Great food, atmosphere and staff, I've been going there for 65 years
Excellent food and cocktails!
3 of us went had Ahi Tuna was over cooked and dried out liver and onions and over cooked and Prime rib ordered medium and got rare and was dry and not seasoned at all. The best thing was the drink and the wait staff.
Lovely dinner in the Northwoods at Golden Pines. From the German dishes, to shrimp, to lobster mac and cheese...all a hit and wonderful service.
Worst steak I ever had asked for medium-rare and got Well done was supposed to be in 8 oz look like a 4 oz. I didn't even want it didn't want to eat it but the waitress still charged me for it plus she tried to overcharge me for stuffed garlic that I didn't even have. She made a point of reminding me that gratuity was not included on the bill. I came in a group of 13 people most of which were complaining about their food items. this was my second visit to this restaurant twice I've had the same experience with a steak. the first time I was charged as well and told that they don't guarantee their steaks , nothing has changed because I was charged again for the steak that I didn't want to eat. I do not recommend this restaurant.
This was our 2nd visit to this lovely log cabin style restaurant. The first time we had superb prime rib and broiled walleye dinners. So, we came back to continue our area Fish Fry comparisons. My husband had their Blue Gill Special with 6 filets, a generous dinner salad/bleu cheese/rolls, fries & veggie for $14. I had the Cod Fish Fry (broiled), and received 2 med herbed filets, a small cup of Cole Slaw, which our server forgot to bring with my plate, room temp veggies, and some delicious parmesan baked potato chunks for $13. The fish was very good, and the atmosphere we found to be delightful.
Extremely disappointed!! Went with a party of 6 for prime rib, was told we had an hour wait, and once seated, was told prime rib was gone. We had rib eyes and they were 6/10 at best. One was under cooked. Bar server was stressed and somewhat rude. First time there and won't be back-ever. I vote with my wallet.
Food was good. Bar had something to be desired. Tap beer was warm. No coke products, did have the brand of tequila. Waitress was a little bitter that we were asking for things they did not have.
Great food nice Northwoods ambiance
Went there with my family. Let's just say that everyone at the table left rather unsatisfied. Burned fish, dried out pasta and rancid salmon should sum it up for you.

Enjoyed a great meal, good drinks, and friendly staff. Always on the go list when up nort! Prime rib was excellent.
Great staff, good food and beverages
Stopped here last night. We usually visit here three to four times per summer for the past 13+ years. It took the hostess several minutes to appear. We were seated in the bar area, even though there were several empty tables in the dining room. The bar was busy and extremely noisy. We ordered prime rib, our usual. Previously we enjoyed the cheese spread and crackers. This must have been a cut in budget because there were none. The prime rib was good. The baked potatoes must have been leftover from the previous evening and were dark on the inside, like leftover ones I serve at home, at times. Both the baked potatoes and veggies hardly melted butter. The table next to us were served steaming white baked potatoes. Due to the noisy atmosphere and poor quality of food, we asked for boxes to go for our prime rib and left. So disappointing. We'll spend our money and time out at other places.
Served my brother expired beer and The chicken Alfredo was more like soup. Don't get the chicken Alfredo and check the days on your beer
Came here to dine in with my boyfriend for our anniversary. Got here at 5:20 and stood waiting for the hostess for a bit, which was fine because both my boyfriend and I work in the food industry and understand. Looked as if the bartenders and servers standing around had no idea what was going on. There were probably only 20 people in the restaurant eating when the hostess rudely dismissed us and told us they could not accommodate anymore walk ins on a Tuesday night at 5:20. I'm baffled by the fact that they are so willingly able to turn away customers who want to eat their food. If you're coming here on a Friday or Saturday night, I'm truly wondering how you're able to even get a table. Never coming back here again. Why bother make it a public restaurant if you're not able to accept any more walk ins on a Tuesday night at 5.
