I've been going to this place for 15 years or more and it hasn't changed at all in that stretch. Really good burgers and fries for half the price you'd see at other sit down restaurants, and cold cheap beer. Service is very good considering this place is always busy. To say the Atmosphere is eclectic would be an understatement. This place has major character. I ate here with my 2 teenagers today and our bill was $23.50. I usually tip 50% when I go the Anchor bar because it's so cheap. Bring cash, they don't take credit cards. Legendary establishment.

Burger was good, not excellent for my taste as it came out well done. Atmosphere was fun, it was busy, so first server got drunk order, took food order and disappeared. Not fair of me to rate this as an overall service rating. Next person was running, saw server more in the last 10 mins than the hour prior.
Ate outdoors- but used inside restroom, ambiance was cool.

It was very interesting! The reason that I felt I needed to go is that I read a book by a Minnesota author (Brian Freeman)and the murderer was in that bar. Best burger ever! Best fries ever! Great prices! I will most definitely be back!

Simple bar food done well at exceedingly reasonable prices. My dining companion who introduced me to it never misses it when he's in the area. We found it similar to Matt's Bar in Minneapolis in terms of flavor profiles and vibe, but I found Anchor's fries and grilled cheese much less greasy than Matt's. The fries are best fresh as they have a light crisp on the exterior that can fade quickly. They have a good regional bottled root beer if you don't imbibe.
The decor is fun to look at. The bathrooms are spare and functional.
According to the back of their menu, they encourage sitting at any open seats when it's busy, including taking the opportunity to make new friends who are already at a table. The patio is nice. We ordered at the bar and told them we were outside and they brought it to us. Cash only!

Anchor Bar never misses. The burgers are always fresh and delicious. The fries are cut to order and super crispy. Great beer selection. Service is always quick. Definitely a dive bar atmosphere, but if that's what you're looking for you can't find anywhere better. The best bang for your buck around.

I used to absolutely love the Anchors burgers. I worked across the street. But I have moved around and it's been 20 years since the last time I was there. Guess what? Looks exactly the same. The burgers are nowhere near as good as they used to be. Just saying 🤷♂️
