Julie, the owner, has worked hard to make her diner the best in the area. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, daily specials, and desserts---there is something for everyone's taste.”

“Stop for lunch when passing through, what a lovely surprise, very nice patio, comfy chairs. Nice selection on the menu and good service. Food was very tasty with generous portions.”

“A nice quaint little bar in the middle of nowhere. Friendly staff and great food. Located just outside of Iola. If you’re in the area I’d recommend stopping in for lunch. Popular stop for the locals but doesn’t get too busy. Plenty of seating and there’s a pool table. No dart board. Prices are great. Ordered a cheese pizza, cheeseburger, onion rings, chicken tenders basket with potato wedges, a big fish sandwich with chips a bunch or beers and soda. Fed 4 of us and the bill was $80. Would recommend and would come back.”

“Didn't actually get to go in the tavern, I'm guessing it was closed due to Covid, but the surrounding area is very nice. Besides the bridge and water, there were deer, rabbits, peacocks, geese, and pheasants. There is a suspension bridge here that looks like you'd fall in the water trying to cross it, but it is safe. It's a very picturesque area, and well worth visiting.”

The custom cocktails bring you in and the perfectly cooked ribeye will make you plan your next visit before you have even finished your meal. We will see you in July!”

“My parents live in West Bend and had been gushing about this place. They were excited to take us here last night for dinner. When we arrived, the place was packed, even on a dark, rainy Tuesday night. We were quoted 30 minutes before we could be seated. It took around that long, but we just chatted and had some drinks while waiting. Once seated, our waitress was very attentive, and we were able to place our orders right away. Two of us in the group got the Beef Tip Special, one of us got the chicken parm sandwich and one of us got the Buckthorn Burger. As a side, the chili was pretty good, with huge chunks of meat. She asked if we wanted cheese and onions on it, and we said yes, but they didn't bring it out that way. Oh well! The beef tip special was the winner of the evening, by far. For a bar, in the middle of nowhere however, the place had some good food. Would I go out of my way to eat here again...probably not, but if my parents would like to choose to come here again, I would go with them if asked. I think trying this place in the summer would be fun, with all the outdoor seating.”

“I ordered a ham and cheese omelet and if I wanted fried burnt scrambled eggs I would of asked for it! My omelette was so done most of all the egg was completely brown absolutely disgusting! Eggs are yellow not brown”

“I placed an online order and when I got to Subway I called inside to ask if they could bring it out to me I explained it would be hard for me to carry out on my own as there was nobody else there at the time The lady brought it out to my vehicle I also called ahead before placing my order and asked”
