I was told that this place had excellent food, but the fish fry was the worst I've had. The cod was super dry and not good at all, but it was pricey. It was also pretty cold inside.

Not from the Waukesha but happened to be in the area. Stopped in for some lunch. Was outstanding food. Service was friendly, quick and made us feel welcomed. When you walk in and they have John Wick playing on 1 of the many tvs...cmon!

I would like to thank them for helping me to realize how good the Fish Fry is at North Star Bistro! I invited 2 family members who had never been to Neighbors to go with me last night. I had been there and thought they should give it a try. It was predictably crowded on a Friday night and there was only one table open so we sat down. It was by a window/door but we didn’t think much about it at first. It took a while for a waitress to come over. When she did, we finally ordered drinks. Immediately after ordering, a family comes in the door next to our table—like 12 inches from the table and it’s like 8 degrees outside. They hold the door open for their party. Our area is freezing for several minutes. We look at each other, put our coats back on and think “OK, how many people will use the side door to the deck.” A minute later a groups of people leave the bar and hold the door open. A few of us looked at each other and said let’s move tables. We see an empty dirty table in the corner and ask a waitress if we can switch. She says she’ll clear it and then walks off to talk to several people in her area and goes back and forth to the kitchen a few times. Then our waitress comes out and says “just so you know, if you move, I won’t be your waitress.” We say we understand and we’re sorry, but don’t want to be by the door. She walks off without saying anything else. The other waitress walks past and delivers food to a few more tables. . . . but no one clears the dirty table. After several minutes, another group comes in the door next to our table and again holds the door open for their party. Our table is freezing again. This time, however, they walk over to the dirty table and sit down—someone comes over to clean it. Everyone in our group looked at each other and said let’s leave. As we get up, the waitress who said she would clear the table but who did nothing to help comes up and says “are you going to close out for your drinks?” I said “she never brought any, so we’re leaving.” We walked out the side door and held it open for 30 seconds. We went over to North Star Bistro. They got us in right away and the quality of the food was so much better than Neighbors and the prices were actually lower.

Drove by the place many times before we stopped. Food and service was fantastic. Parking can be a challenge at busier times but well worth it.

Our first visit. It's a nicely maintained bar and very casual restaurant with a small outdoor deck. Nice TVs in several locations, big bar and the obligatory video gambling games. We were there at 6:30 on a Wednesday and it was moderately busy. LOUD. There are high ceilings, tile floors, hard chairs, stainless steel table tops and no window treatments--just nothing to absorb all that noise.

We each had tap beer and paninis. My braised beef rib panini was GREAT and the waffle fries were crispy and good. My husband's chicken panini was not very good; too many chunks of chicken were tough. The tator tots were average. Everything was served really hot, which was nice, but in paper-lined plastic baskets. The paper gets greasy & tears into shreds.
We were disappointed with our server, who made no effort to explain the menu when we said it was our first visit. She never asked if our meals were okay or if we needed anything until she asked if we wanted dessert.
We will try it again (and I'll probably have to have the same panini!) and hopefully enjoy a warmer welcome.
