I tried a couple of other Mexican restaurants in the Wausau area and was unimpressed, so I figured I’d give one more a shot and landed here.
The service was great. Everyone was very kind and friendly, and they checked on our table multiple times.
The food was really good, easily five times better than the other Mexican restaurants in town.
The Coronarita was solid too.

Went on my sons 4th birthday for lunch and usually you go to Mexican restaurants or any restaurants in general and they make an effort make your bday special. They just dropped off a bowl of ice cream and a birthday sign with a sparkler. My sweet boy wanted to wear the hat and have them sing. We had done it at another place we visited for my mom’s birthday and he specifically wanted to do what we did for grandma. The tried I guess….

Love the atmosphere. We agreed it right away with smiles. Service is quick. Food was quick and delicious. Waiters and waitresses were very attentive. Even multiple kids, they did not rush us.
We have eaten at El Mezcal and generally the food is wonderful but we have noticed a slip in quality. The pork in the Pork Chili Verde was ground pork and not the usual pork chunks. Also the Quesidia had ground pork and very little verde sause. The chips were stale. Normally they are fresh. Need to up the game!

We stopped here for a late lunch while in town, and it was surprisingly busy. Despite that, we were seated quickly and the food came out shockingly fast once we'd made up our minds (So many choices! And it all sounded amazing!). The food was delicious, and the service was fast and very friendly! Prices were reasonable and portions were generous. We enjoyed the fun decor ane the lively atmosphere, and would not hesitate to come back if we're in the area.
