I scheduled a reservation for my husband's birthday. The atmosphere is great. However, we had 5 people and were placed at a booth for 4 people with a chair on the end. This was cramped for our party and for waitstaff. We had too many dishes and not enough table. Appetizers were great. Entrees were great until I found a long, dark hair in my pasta. I did appreciate the birthday card for my husband and his free dessert. I gave the pasta I couldn't eat to my chickens at home so it wasn't a total waste.

First time we have gone here, we had a pizza and shared a salad both were very creative and excellent! Service was great, but it can get a little noisy. We will definitely be back to try some of the main dishes they looked really good. Appreciate a menu that has unique combinations that I would not try at home. Our pizza was kale, fig, cheese and hot honey plus more. Crust was perfect and ingredients were really fresh...

Perfect dinner spot while staying here or driving through. You never know when eating at an HGI restaurant but it felt as if we weren't even in the hotel. Food & service was 5 stars!

Thanks for my mom's 80th birthday celebration! Without asking you seated us in a semi-private room which my mom commented how nice it was to be able to talk. I only rated noise level as moderate for the rest of the restaurant, but our room was perfect! Thanks! Highly recommended to everyone we talk with!

Van Acre is our favorite restaurant in the Wausau area. We've never had a bad drink or a bad meal. The service is awesome. The staff is very friendly and courteous. Try it for yourselves. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

The food quality, the ambiance, the service, the drinks... all perfectly perfect for a special and intimate family dinner. Thank you once again for a wonderful experience/memory with my parents. :)

We stayed at Hilton Garden Inn where Van Acre restaurant is. The restaurant is located just off the very large and well appointed lobby/lounge area. 7:00pm reservation. The restaurant was packed on a Thursday evening! The Hilton is relatively new and it shows. It's immaculate. Van Acre is nicely decorated with tables, booths, high top's, and a bar. Hostess was pleasant and greeted us warmly. Our server was smiling, polite, and asked about cocktails etc. her service was excellent from beginning to end. We ordered some salads. I ordered a Street Corn salad and my friend had the Van Acre Chopped salad. Street corn salad was not good. At all. Avocado was in chunks and completely brown and tasted awful. (menu says marinated avocado) Corn was mushy and the dressing (I've never met a dressing I didn't like) was dreadful and too much of it. I took 3 bites and just had no desire to continue eating. My friend's salad seemed fine. Did I complain or send it back? No. I did not. We were exhausted from traveling and just wanted to go to bed. I would normally have spoken quietly with the manager etc. This time is wasn't worth it. Long story short, I had a very disappointing meal. Not the end of the world, but the kitchen needs to revisit the recipe and tweak it. It could be SO MUCH better. Service, ambiance, overall vibe was good. They're doing a really good job over there. It would be great if they take this review to heart and really bump up the quality of their Corn Salad.
