We had a great first time as a family of 4. Celebrating an 11 year birthday. Loved how it was different from other restaurants.

Atmosphere was great and server was fantastic. Everyone was friendly, the one complaint would be that the bloodies are a little watered down.

Pizza was excellent. Server was super.

Went here at the recommend of the owner of Wisconsin moonstone LLC after a day of mining and it was a great recommend. The food was cooked perfectly I would go here again on our next trip to the mine

They employ racist staff.

It’s very unique on the outside and inside—it does remind me of an actual mine/cave. The menu has a nice variety of foods, with specialty dishes like Italian fries (which are very good). We got sandwiches, (Phillie Steak Sandwich and BLT) and they were ample sized and very good. The wait-staff is pleasant attentive without hovering

Italian fries use use be the best. Ordered a large with cheese and it was sad. The fries were small and the cheese was flat. Over cooked They use to be large with the cheese dripping off with buttery flavor. I know shrink flation, but this is rediculous. It's like a Temu version of what they use to be. What Happend Wausau Mine?? Don't rip the customers off.
They use to put Papillions Italian fries to shame. Now barely edible.
Either they are giving to_go orders smalls and claiming they are larges or there is shrinkflation.

Food was pretty good. Hot beef for the hot beef sandwich was dry. Would definitely be better with gravy over it versus cheese. Just an opinion.

5-Star Review: Wausau Mine Company – Where the Cheese Flows Like Ore and the Vibes are Pure Gold
I rolled into Wausau on a work trip, the kind where your soul is already 60% PowerPoint and 40% regret, desperately seeking anything that might remind me I still had taste buds. Enter the Wausau Mine Company – a glorious underground-themed restaurant that somehow makes you feel like you’ve struck it rich without the back-breaking labor.
From the second I walked in, the place treated me better than most HR departments. I was seated faster than you can say “union break,” and the staff moved with the efficiency of miners who’ve had three espressos and a promise of overtime. No awkward hovering, no “how’s everything tasting?” every 90 seconds – just smooth, professional service that somehow still felt genuinely friendly.
I started with a crisp Wisconsin beer (because when in Rome… or in this case, when in Wisconsin, you drink local) and an order of cheese curds. Those golden nuggets of joy hit the table at lightspeed. Crispy outside, squeaky-gooey inside, they were so dangerously addictive I briefly considered asking if they offered them by the hard hat.
Then came the main event: the pizza. Oh lord, the pizza. They recommended it, and they were not kidding around. This thing didn’t just have cheese – it had enough dairy to make a small country self-sufficient. I’m pretty sure I saw the pizza equivalent of a “Caution: Heavy Load” sign when it arrived. Every bite was a glorious, melty, slightly ridiculous explosion of flavor. I’m convinced the chef’s secret ingredient is pure Midwestern audacity. I ate until I felt like I needed my own hard hat for structural support.
The whole mine motif is chef’s kiss perfect. Dim lighting, cool industrial details, and decor that makes you feel like you’re dining deep in a vein of deliciousness. It’s fun without being gimmicky, thematic without clubbing you over the head with it.
Look, if you’re anywhere near Wausau and you enjoy food that hugs your soul (and possibly your arteries), stop here. Whether you’re a local, a traveler, or a sad corporate warrior like me, the Wausau Mine Company delivers big time. Just come hungry and leave your “I’m watching my cholesterol” attitude at the door. Highly, hilariously, and wholeheartedly recommended. I’d go back in a heartbeat – preferably before another work trip tries to kill my joy
