You have to try an egg roll at a place called the egg roll house. Piping hot, plump, but mostly cabbage as noted by other diners. Shanghai noodles one of their specialties; you pick the spice level. Medium was lip burning. Some of the included meats were dry. Had leftovers for 2 more days. My companion had chicken chop suey. Taste OK, lots of celery left on the plate. Egg foo Yung comes with 3 patties and a thick brown sauce. Other than my party, no other diners there always a bit wierd. Lots of carryout. Service friendly and appreciative. It's a typical American style Chinese restaurant with an appeal to traditional diners.

The food is delicious! Clean modern decor and friendly waitstaff. (Somebody should delete all the old photos and videos on this listing because the restaurant was completely rebuilt and remodeled recently.)

Got the chicken Almond Ding and my family ordered the Hunan Chicken, fried rice, crab rangoon and egg rolls. Everything was excellent, hot and fresh. Place is remodeled and super clean. Would recommend visiting this little gem.

Egg Roll House has been in business for a really long time and I used to go there a lot in their old location. I really hesitated to share this poor of a review because Iâm sure they work hard but when I found the luncheon plate of the orange chicken nearly inedible I thought I should share with others. I should have known when it was served up within 4-5 minutes of ordering that it wouldnât be that great. The quality reminded me of Panda Express tbh. The pricing was under $10.

The Egg Roll House â A Strip Mall Surprise That Serves Up Nostalgia and Knockout Flavor
Nestled in a modest strip mall, The Egg Roll House is the kind of hidden gem that surprises you in the best way possible. I walked in with tempered expectations and left with a taste memory that reached decades into the past.
From the moment I arrived, Wendy made me feel welcome, asking where I'd like to sit before handing me the menu. She casually asked what kind of egg rolls I wantedâbecause theyâre made fresh on the spot. I couldnât decide, so I tried both shrimp and chicken. Absolute perfection. Crispy, flavorful, and paired with a sweet and sour sauce that struck a flawless balance. The hot mustard? Old-school, sinus-clearing goodnessâthe kind of fiery kick that's hard to find these days.
Then came the sweet and sour porkâand with it, a blast from my childhood. I've spent years searching for the version I had as a kid at a tiny restaurant in Waukegan, Illinois. Nothing ever came close... until this. Crunchy on the outside, tender and savory on the inside, this pork dish brought me right back to that cherished flavor. While I did miss the classic pineapple, tomato, and onion medley, the dish was still unforgettable.
If youâre anywhere near West Allis, do yourself a favorâseek out The Egg Roll House. Eat, savor, and tell Wendy that Julie says hi. You won't regret it.

Was recommended to go here, read reviews and hesitated but still gave them a chance. Im going to focus on the food as didn't want to judge a book by its cover. Egg rolls were decent but not memorable. Crab Ragoon standard but nothing special. Beef lomein took two bites and didn't finish. Unfortunately with other restaurants in the area with similar cuisine and pricing its hard to recommend this place.
Staff were nice and welcoming.
