Dined here for the first time ever yesterday -- Friday 4/12 ---before the Luke Combs concert at American Family Field! I would DEFINITELY recommend and return to Kegel's!! This restaurant was HIGHLY recommended by my friend with whom I dined with here yesterday! She had dined here before/LOVED it, happens to be German and also had a German grandmother who cooked her and their entire family German dishes using recipes she brought with her from The Fatherland! I had a bowl of chicken dumpling soup, the Oktoberfest Bratwurst, a side of spaetzel, and a mug of Fruh Kolsch! My friend ordered the Kuegel Wurst, Fried Cheese Curds, and German Potato Salad! All of our food and drinks were fresh, hearty and flavorful! Our young upbeat server (can't remember his name, unfortunately/sorry) did a GREAT job advising us on our entire order; he was VERY knowledgeable, personable, wonderfully good-humored and very efficient/professional! Loved the cozy Old World ambience of Kegel's: brought back fond memories of my trip to Germany back in the 80s to Munich, Frankfort, and Rothenberg! It really was like dining in a true German Inn!! I would definitely come back to Kegel's!!!

Enjoy their fish fry and beef Sauer braten. Chicken sausage is good too. Average dollar amount for restaurants. Professional employees.There is outdoor dining too.Kid-friendliness: Child friendly indoor dining is safest as restaurant is on a busy street.
I read a few of the reviews about fish fry, and I am confused. Me personally I think the classic fish fry was 1 step above George Webbs. I would assume the great reviews about the fish fries come from people that don't get out much. Please remember this is my opinion and maybe something changed with there fish Fry's but I will not be returning for a fish fry.

Believe it or not, as a former long time resident of Milwaukee, I was never here until last week. This place is awesome. Their sausages are stellar. The herb chicken sausage definitely stood out for me. So good.

Went for fish fry and did not disappoint. Had the 3-2-1 (cod, perch, walleye) to split with a side spaetzle. Honestly the spaetzle may be the best I've ever had it was delicious. Our server also recommended the carrot cake and we were so glad that we listened because it was so divine. Service was amazing - got in shortly before 6pm with minimal wait and our server was very attentive.

Old world charm found in this 4 generations owned restaurant featuring authentic German cuisine. You'll find all the favorites here of pork shank, rouladen, sauerbraten, spaetzl to name a few. Half sized portions are offered for 3 of the favorites for smaller appetites. Friendly servers and delicious food. Lovely hand painted murals decorate the walls and classical music is played during dinner

Our first visit and it was just ok. Went at 4:00 pm parking lot was full had to find street parking. The fish portions were 4 little pieces but good. You’re charged for extra tartar sauce. The clam chowder soup for $7 was so diluted we could have sipped it through a straw , very bland and very little tiny diced potatoes in it , I counted 3, in my portion.Would I go back? Yes, for the German menu which I would have ordered but it was Good Friday so I wanted to try the fish.Parking: Parking lot has room for about maybe 15 cars as it was the carry out pickup lane or valet? takes up a good portion of the lot
I was looking forward to having Wiener Schnitzel at the renowned Kegel Inn. The troubles started almost immediately because the space was deafening. We were shouting to make ourselves heard. As we all ordered versions of the Wiener Schnitzel, it seemed easy. But our frenetic server screwed up the order and tried to convince us it wasn’t her fault by showing us her ordering machine. She was the one who inputted the information. Wisconsin has the best veal in the world; Provimi and Strauss are prized purveyors. However, my schnitzel had a sliver of meat, and the schnitzel was soggy and greasy. I couldn’t eat it. After two bites, I was done. The green beans were good. Hey, charge more for the schnitzel and give us some meat. This was my second time at Kegels. The initial visit was for their fish fry, which I found mediocre. Perhaps my expectations are too high. Everyone seems to love Kegel’s except for me.

I'm usually very easy to please but I was very disappointed in my fish dinner on Friday. My husband and I both ordered soup with our dinner . Both the clam chowder and chicken dumping were about a 3 on a scale of 1-5. Our grouper dinners were so overdone and dry, both the fish and the potato pancakes that we paid extra for. It was our first time at this restaurant, and we had heard it was a Milwaukee favorite. I'm not sure we will be back!
