Tried this place about a week ago, probably won't be back. Had the pastor street tacos which were okay but very bland. The biggest problem was the "salsa". I'm 99% sure its canned tomato paste with a tiny bit of cilantro, onion, and maybe jalapeño added. However, all you could taste was generic tomato paste, with a weird sweetness to it. By far the worst salsa I've ever had, ever. I should have listened to that 1 star review from 3 years ago, as clearly the salsa hasn't improved. Wasn't impressed with the margaritas either.

Delicious! My children got an omelette and French Toast and loved it. We ordered nachos for an appetizer; very good. I ordered the chilaquiles which were very flavorful, a little spicy but delicious!

They serve breakfast all day. I got a breakfast skillet that was fantastic. It had steak strips, chorizo, 2 eggs made your way, potatoes, and cheese. It was excellent.

The place was clean, there were no other customers, they showed sports and had Mexican music. The breakfast was too greasy and the coffee was very strong. The service was good, the person was very attentive. The prices were affordable, it has little parking and has places for disabled people.

We stopped in while passing just to try something new. 11:20am we ordered breakfast. I ordered the Breakfast Burrito no onion and add bacon. It wasn’t the best ever but was very good! Wife ordered La Costena Omelette no Onion which was also Very good! We will come back and try other items.Ask for the Salsa Verde

My neighborhood is inundated with wonderfully well-made food. La Costena is no exception to this experience. Good Food. Good Service.

Not the worse Mexican food I've eaten, but close to it. The worse Mexican cocktail I have ever had. If there was tequila in it, I don't know where they put it.The tortilla chips were leftovers from last year; horribly stale. Their cheese and chorizo dip was inedible because of the grease floating on top of ingredients soaked in salt. YUCKY! I swear this restaurant has it in for vegetables; they were an overcooked mess. I don't know what they did to their rice and beans but both were flavorless AND the beans were runny. On the plus side, inspite of the fact I nearly had to clean off my own table in order to get to my entree, the server was very pleasant.I believe in second chances but was disappointed that there was no improvement from my first to second visit. I don't know why the chef thinks he can cook? I won't be going back.

This was my 1st ever visit here. The food (asada tacos & barbacoa burrito) was admittedly very good & authentic Mexican rather than American. I’ve eaten at a lot of Mexican restaurants and their food was definitely towards the top of the list, at least for those items. However, their drink menu lists margaritas & jumbo margaritas. I specifically asked for a “margarita” but was served a jumbo margarita instead. Cost differential of $7 versus $12 for the jumbo margarita. I definitely believe they thought I wouldn’t notice. Awhile later, I asked for a “margarita” again just to see what they would do. Of course, they served me a jumbo margarita. I DON’T do underhanded shady business practices like that & it gets under my skin big time. If not for that, this would be a 4-star place all day (5 stars if the environment was better). Doing stuff like that is a reflection of their business and makes me concerned about what else goes on behind the scenes. I kinda doubt I’ll visit again just because of that.
