Interesting bar! We stopped in for one to stretch our legs from biking and found this bar across from an old BP gas station that sells fishing tackle, gas and guns which is a whole other review. This bar looked like a historical part of the town, which of course added to the appeal of checking it out. We stepped inside and were taken back by a smell which seemed like musty or garbage. Honestly that’s the only reason I am taking a star off. The smell was pretty intense. The bar keep is amazing! So friendly, and makes perfect drinks. The prices were so reasonable, you could drink all night on $50 and have top shelf. We went out on the deck, which made the experience even more cool. The view was amazing! The deck was a little sketchy, due to it being older, so there was some definite funhouse tilt going on, but you quickly forget because the music is good, the drink is good and the view is perfect. I would stop in again. Just for the experience. The locals are a hoot. Very friendly!
We try to stop in a couple times a month for Fish Fry! It’s the best around. Angie and her mom provide the best service and an amazing dinner for the money! You won’t be disappointed it’s worth the drive.
We heard about the new management starting up the fish fry again so we gathered up family members and tried it out. We were greeted by management, staff and one of the owners. What a friendly and welcome atmosphere to enter! We passed by the bar area, but noticed it looked and sounded like it would be an inviting area to stop by. Our before dinner drinks were prepared just right and served promptly after we were seated. The dining area is on the smaller side, but very cozy and has a beautiful overlook of the Wild Rose Millpond. Additional summer time seating on the deck will be fantastic. Table seating is also available in the bar area. Between the 6 of us plus great granddaughter, we tried out the cod, both beer battered and baked, baked potato, french fries, and tater tots along with rye bread and homemade cole slaw. Everyone agreed that this was a delicious fish fry worth coming back for. Hot and prepared the way we liked it with eye appeal besides. And they tell us that walleye, perch and other menu items will be on the menu next week. The regular menu looks very good as well. Lots of good choices with a special mention that freshly ground beef is the key to great burgers. Prices are very reasonable and worth mentioning. Wild Rose has other places to eat, but this place deserves to be the first stop you will want to make!
