Got the prime rib sandwich with sweet potato fries and cheese curds. Everything was meh. I wasn’t impressed with any of it.
Sandwich was super bland, and the cheese curds were rubbery.
Not the worst thing I’ve ever had, but I can’t imagine going back.

Went there to eat on a Thursday night and there was only 1 waitress working as the rest were helping with a gathering in the common room. The food was okay but for a mostly Italian menu, there were no breadsticks, salad bowl or even fresh ground parm. I will say that the dining room looked as beautiful as I always remembered.

The Mead finally has a great Chef again. In three trips the food has been excellent every time. They seem to be a bit understaffed though. Bartenders and host are bit slow.(No sense of urgency here.) But, the food makes up for any deficiency in service.

I had gone to The Whitney for Valentine’s Day this year to try something new, and I definitely would not recommend. The food was cold and hard along with no flavor to follow, the manager was very rude when we had asked for a refund, and as we asked he claimed out of nowhere that he had asked us for a replacement to cover the meal. It overall was a weird atmosphere, and it was out in the opening, so therefore everyone was able to hear your conversations. I will never return their very unhappy and disappointing.

Three lunch orders, none edible. Two left there, one taken with to try to fix at home. We have high hopes for the revival of activities connected to The Mead Inn,, a grand place at one time, full of life and a spot for many, many good times. We applaud other changes implemented recently but this lunch service was just a problem. We were told there might be issues, I guess we hoped that a place knowing things go poorly would have worked improve it by now. The wait staff was wearing too many hats and did try hard. The look of the place is very nice, more formal than the lunch menu would lead one to expect. There may be a different dinner menu or staffing, this was just a lunch,a one time visit. Decide for yourself if there might be something on the menu for you. We do not recommend anything related to a chicken choice. Other entrees may be fine..

I was very disappointed when my party of seven arrived and they didn’t know of my online reservation. Then when they did see us, the area was extremely cold. They were out of prime rib and the salmon at 6:30. The food was fine. Nothing spectacular.

After 9 years of refusing to return due to horrible service and food, we decided we'd give the new owners a shot. I'm glad we did! Cheese curds and deep fried pickles were excellent! The prime rib was good and mashed potatoes even better! Drinks were worth the cost. Service was professional and fast. The atmosphere is definitely an upgrade from year's past. Check out the changes, I think you'll be impressed!

Absolutely lovely place to visit, dine, and share cocktails. The food is fabulous, the atmosphere is relaxing and classy, and the staff is accommodating and friendly. Definitely one of the best places in Wisconsin Rapids, so give it a go!
