The last time we tried food at the Mead Hotel, they still offered brunch; needless to say, it has been a while! Family in from Texas so they chose The Whitney, found within the Mead. Although a surprise choice, I am so glad we went. I can't say enough about how pleasant the experience was. A Friday night, in Wisconsin, means fish choices were on the menu and ordered. We all had the Haddock , which was deliciously seasoned. The batter coating wasn't thick, nor was is wet or gooey. I would go back just for a side of Baby Red potatoes, which were amazing; perfect seasoning and done exactly the way I would have made. I had the fish shrimp combo and again, the coating and seasoning was perfect and lightly coated. They were not rubbery or dry and they were large shrimp, not salad size. I received 4 shrimp and 2 fish, which was more than enough, I brought home 2 shrimp and 1 fish and, I am a food lover! Our wait staff was quite accommodating with some special requests and needs. We were there shortly after they opened. We were seated immediately.
Our meals were delivered in a very short time and our table was decluttered several times during the meal. All public areas we saw were clean and absolutely welcoming.; a very comfortable experience.
We were astonished when we received the check, expecting to have to pay much more than we did!
Bottom line, excellent service, excellent environment, SUPER PRICES, LARGE PORTIONS and really good food.
Do have to add that none of us liked the flavor of the coleslaw that automatically comes with the fish fry.

Was there for a company function the food was not the best my steak and 3 other peoples was spicy and had burnt Italian shake on seasoning and the steak was burnt on one side. We booked the back room until 10 but at 8 the room they put us in went from being almost uncomfortable warm to so cold you had to put on a jacket . I feel like it was intentional from the staff that wanted to close early

I ordered the lasagna which was good. It came with soup or salad and dinner rolls. I chose the tomato soup which was also good. It seemed like a lot of food for price.

Can't review how the food was because we never got in to try it. We drove a few miles to try them. When we got there, last Sunday @ 6pm, they were closed even though their website AND the board by the entrance both said open on Sundays. I asked the towel head at the front desk about it and pointed out that they should be open. All he could do was shrug his shoulders and said he didn't know. But he did make a snide remark, as we were walking away to leave, that we could leave the premises.
Food absolutely the worst. Ravioli cold, tough. Spaghetti tomorrow cold, tough. Meatball appetizer still frozen in middle. If you want microwave food this is the place. Service never asked is we wanted drinks. Sad as it used to be a wonderful place. Not any longer. Will never return.
