Visited Stuart's Smokehouse on New Years Eve. There was an entry fee of 10 dollars per person. I didn't ask if that was common or only for the holiday. The food was decent. My SO and I got the pulled pork and brisket sandwiches. Fries were a separate charge. There were quite a few regular patrons and a lack of waitresses so it was a longer visit than expected. Finally, we get to the atmosphere. It was welcoming and everyone was polite. Definitely a unique West Virginian experience.

This meal was terrible. We got take out for husband's birthday.meal for 2 people was over 120.00, and none of it was good. The order was mixed up and we did not get some of the items we paid for. Probably will not ever get food from there again.

This has been one of my favorite restaurants in West Virginia for several years. It's a distance from where I live, so I only get there once or twice a year. As a locally owned, owner operated, restaurant, it is not perhaps as consistent as a franchise, in fact it varies occasionally. Overall, I have always loved the "Fresh Seafood in West Virginia", and the personable service that often comes with personality. I understand it is not fast food and plan to have a cold beer or two before my meal. I have especially enjoyed the "Jimmy Buffet" type ambience, the deck overlooking the Greenbrier River and the feeling that I am experiencing something unique, special and delicious! I can't wait to go again!

Was told that it was shift change after I went to the bar and asked of someone would be out server? T6omes are hard but over 45 minutes, and no one asked anything. I had previously heard good things about this place. Maybe they will get help soon. Best of luck to the workers trying

Food wasn't worth the crazy prices I paid or the drive over here. Service/bar tender lady was lazy, was even sitting on the counter on her phone. Took far too long to come take our order too. Atmosphere is more of a sad bar than a restaurant.

The wife and I found ourselves in Ronceverte, wv just in time for the state fair. We were looking for some good food away from the fair crowd that swarmed everywhere.Found Stuart’s on google and decided heck let’s give it a try.We pull in after a short scenic drive and it looks interesting so we went on it. The place was just about empty except a few older guys drinking at the bar. This should have been clue one.The waitress came to the table and got our drinks and told us about the food and the menu.We ordered some chicken legs and the bbq sampler. The waitress then told us it was open mic and karaoke night and if we wanted to set out on the patio to watch we could, so we moved outside. For an hour we had to listen to some tone deaf reformed druggie try to sing his own songs that all sounded alike and no one could understand a thing he said. Then praise the lord the food showed up finally I thought. The brisket was charred black and dry as the dessert. The pulled pork smelled rancid. The chicken legs were sorta foul smelling. It was like the food had been setting for days out in the open and they served it anyway. Not sure why it took so long as there was nothing that came to the table that had been freshly cooked except a small plate of frys.In the end those frys turned out to be the highlight of the meal.I am not sure why people rave about this place and the food. Maybe it was an off night for them but I will not return to find out. If your hungry for good food just wave as you pass this place because you will not find it there.Good luck

We came to Stuart's while we visited the area for the first time. NEVER AGAIN!1. Drunk girl passed out on the barstool outside.2. Waited almost 2 hours for the shrimp calabash & crab cake sandwich.3. Had to go to the bar myself to get tea refills. Mine came with no ice. Our server never ONCE checked on us at all!4. A young girl who was not our server brought the food & basically slammed it on the table and walked away. We tried getting her attention to explain we were missing our sides, silverware, and napkins. She walks off in a huff.5. We did get our sides but the fries were cold & mushy. The hushpuppies were so hard you couldn't chew them.6. Watched 1 of the servers sit on her phone & smoke between every trip to her 3 tables. Never saw her wash her hands after smoking. We wanted out of there so fast I had to go to the bar to get our check and pay. We'd already been there almost 2 1/2 hours. We'll definitely not be back.

Perfect place to unwind after a day on the Greenbrier River. They have a full bar and a fairly extensive menu. Most recently, I took my large adult son and a friend to stoke up on fried foods after tubing. Get the shrimp dip, which I think might also be good warm. You WILL probably take it home! It comes with a sleeve of Ritz crackers. We also ordered the mixed appetizer platter, which comes with several dips (honey mustard, ranch, BBQ, and marinara). Sproßling had twelve piece wings with sweet chili, which he said were hot enough he wished he had milk. He had a side of mushrooms and onions with that. I had a hamburger, which came loaded with fresh toppings. Our vegan friend had corn on the cob, onion rings, fried mushrooms, and mushroom and onions with son. Not a lot here for true vegans or vegetarians. Service is always friendly. I know they are looking to sell and retire, but I hope this local institution continues to thrive!

I love the atmosphere of this place. It's rustic and basic but a gem perched above the Greenbrier River. There was a staffing issue the day we went and our server was running ragged and stressed. Common occurrence everywhere these days though. I'm concerned about the future of this restaurant due to some rumors I heard about it possibly going up for sale. I'm not sure if it would retain its backwoods charm if Mr. Brugh wasn't managing it.

The food is ok, the service is there, just not very fast. There's 2 or 3 waitresses for the entire place, so I understand its going to be a bit slow. Inside has kind of a weird smell to it. The best place to sit is outside overlooking the river.Parking: 1 strip of parking. If the place has 20 vehicles at it, you'll be parking along the highway

I unfortunately do not get to dine here as much as I used to when I was local, but I make it a point to stop in every trip. The food is amazing and the view is breathtaking. Even if you only have a few minutes to stop and grab a drink, it’s worth the trip!

Great little hidden gem of a seafood restaurant along the Greenbriar River. It can get really busy and you might wait a bit for your meal. Staff is working really hard to keep up with the high demand. The shrimp dip is one of my favorites along with their steamed shrimp. They also have smoked meats and burgers. Their corn was fresh shucked and delicious! They have different daily specials and sometimes have whole crabs. Their Facebook page is updated regularly with any special seafood that comes in from the coast. They have indoor and outdoor seating with a great view of the river. They have a full bar and live music on certain nights. They also have a video poker room.

Me and some family didn’t have the greatest time. We have been here before and it was great, but this time it wasn’t good. Maybe they were wore out today.. but first thing I noticed was the table still had quiet a bit crumbs left on it. Ok, well we brushed them off. Waited an hour for the seafood boil and a grilled chicken sandwich. Another family had mentioned they waited two hours, a waitress had to re-take their orders. Once our food arrived, I ate half of my chicken sandwich before noticing the piece on top was a bit pink. Our Mr Pibbs tasted incredibly flat. It also looked like the place needed a decent cleaning, there was a bunch of dust everywhere. Not trying to be mean or anything… just hope things get better again.
