Overlook at the New River Gorge Restaurant

When you want a breakfast that feeds your body as well as your soul, it’s the perfect place to go. The food is great and very filling, the atmosphere is calming.
The view, there are not enough words to explain the beauty of its ever changing wonders.

This was a terrible experience as far as the service went. We showed up with a group of 10 at 6:30pm. They said it would be 30 minutes but had tables to fit us all by 7pm. They then said they wouldn’t put a large group by the windows although they had 20+ chairs open at tables. We ended up being forced to wait until 7:30pm before they had tables open not by the windows and the restaurant closed at 8pm. The no large groups by the windows rule is bad for service and makes no logical sense for customers and business profit.

Called the restaurant to see if I could reserve a table from our trip leaving West Virginia. We thought this place would have been a great wrap up from our trip, and was spoke to very rudely. The employee who answered the phone spoke to me like I was an idiot and seemed like she hated her job. Let's just say I'm glad I called. Will never entertain coming to this place or recommend to anyone and I didn't even step inside the establishment.

Great view but they have a hard time with larger parties. Even so it's worth a visit

Amazing view. Nasty food. Salad tasted like it had been in the refrigerator for a while. The entree vegetable were super soggy. Appetizer spinach and artichoke dish have about 12 tortilla chips and were burned. My wife had the French onion soup and there must have been a full loaf of bread in it. Great view, but eat somewhere else.

The view and the state funding are the only thing keeping this place open. The food is mediocre, and the wait staff seemed like they had better things to do. The view is awesome. So my recommendation? Go down the road to view the overlook, then head east a few miles to the brewery and pizzeria.

I asked for the grilled salmon and yet...it was clearly baked. The portions were generous and they tasted delicious. The view alone made the dining experience memorable.

Super cool restaurant with an amazing view of the new river gorge river. As we sat and ate lunch we got to watch people paddle board and take a speed boat tour. The food was amazing! Will definitely be back!
