This little diner has an amazing appeal and atmosphere. It's right by the state park. It's very down to earth with great local staff that work incredibly hard and are attentive to your needs. REMINDER THEY ONLY TAKE CASH OR CHECK. However I have been told there is a place down the road with an ATM. Please note that when we went yesterday to my knowledge there was only one waitress who did her very best to seat everyone, take orders, etc. as efficiently as humanly possible. Also if you're reading this please be kind to your wait staff or anyone in the food industry. Back on topic of the food, my brother got the brunch burger which was amazing and very filling. Do note their portions are generous, as I could not finish my western omelette which was stuffed full of goodness and the size of half the plate. The price are incredibly reasonable considering food costs, service, and portions. The thing I truly love is that they support other local small businesses. They were selling tumblers out of the case by the register, as well as a local photographers work on the wall. Otherwise they were phenomenal 11/10 would eat there again! And will continue recommending it!Parking: Gravel lot park where you can find a spot.

Melanie's Buckwheat Cakes! Melanie's is a local dining Gem in the Preston County Mountains. Small newly remolded mom and pop restaurant. Severs and kitchen cooks are well trained. The Gem is the Buckwheat cakes -Real Preston County Buckwheat prepared thin and tangy. For us, worth the detour.

When I picture a small town dining experience in West Virginia, this is the place that comes to mind. The staff here are wonderful and kind. The restaurant is beautifully made to resemble a lodge in the mountains. The food is just perfectly made as well. I left Melanie's with a full belly and no regrets.

Great little place across from Cathdreal State Park. Don't take cards but Store down the street has ATM. Food was great and reasonable. I had a burger and chips. Wife had salad bar (one trip) with soup and chips. Was great as well. Good service . We will stop again when in area.

We’ve driven by several times over the years and finally decided to stop in. Great food and great selection. We had the hot roast beef sandwich and chicken hoagie. Both were delicious. Friendly service and fast service considering how busy they were. We’ll definitely stop by again and try some other items on the menu.
