Have been stopping here anytime I'm driving through the area since I was a kid. This is such a neat little place and perfect if you want to pop out and grab something to go or want to stretch your legs. The marketplace is filled with various goods and art pieces from WV artists and a few have studios in the building that you can sit and watch! They have a cafeteria and a small but nice playground outside, and historic signs about the area. It really has something for everyone and it's less crowded than the travel center they built near the highway. Do yourself a favor and take the extra minute to stop by Tamarack, you won't be disappointed!
Always stop in and admire all the artwork when we are driving through WV. Great stop with cool art!
Absolutely love this place! Perfect for RVers.
West Virginia has done an amazing thing here!
This place is great to stop for a driving break, you will love shopping, local products, artisan grocers and crafts.
The restaurant is the perfect place to taste upscale local
cuisine, healthy and tasty meals.
It's a jewel in the middle of roads where all you find is junk food...
Easy on and off with our motorhome and tow car, great RV parking spots available.
As a local, it is really nice to see all the local talent on display!
Disappointing. I’ve never been to West Virginia before so when I saw the sign, I was excited to see some local crafts. Which they did have but everything seems overpriced. Maybe I’m too old, but everything seemed 30 to 50% more than it was worth it to me. It really didn’t have any local flavor either. It’s in a very modern building, no local crafts people present.
We needed a break on our long drive through West Virginia and decided to explore the new Tamarack facility, it is fantastic! We're not really sure how to describe it-- the old place, which has been razed-- was a more traditional rest stop/truck stop with an interesting "gift store" of West Virginia products. This new Tamarack is truly a marketplace of West Virginia arts, crafts and other products. There is everything from West Virginia themed T-shirts to food products to local craftwork to Greenbrier branded items to quilts and ceramics to Homer Laughlin Fiestaware in all the latest colors. We might have spent hours exploring all the West Virginia products! There is also a food court, tables and chairs for relaxing, and adequately sized, clean restrooms.
What we discovered that will make this a must-stop location is a large parking lot for busses and RVs, easy entry and exit.
The old location is being rebuilt as a modern refueling station for travelers and truckers and that will make this a destination for all!
Next time through West Virginia we will set aside more time for a visit to Tamarack Marketplace and that will certainly make the long trip traversing the Mountain State very enjoyable!
Awesome place to learn about and purchase local arts and crafts
A lovely place to stroll and look at a variety of crafted items. The prices were out of my range for most items. Still, I found a few gems. literally. I collect unusual stones polished and unpolished. I did not eat at the food area as I have a restrictive diet.
overall, a pleasant diversion from driving.

Thanks so much for the great service from Cecil!!?
He was so kind to get a wheelchair for us , & later wheeled my mom to the parking area. He waited with her, & I retrieved the car. He then returned the wheelchair for us.
Another visitor passing by stated what a kind man & great service!
