Screech Owl Brewing/Spent Grain Cafe

As a mom of three young children, it’s a delight to be able to enjoy a flight of delicious craft beer with my husband while the kids play in a giant sandbox. Food, beer, service, and atmosphere were great. We did some hiking in the area and this was the perfect post hike stop.

Great place for the whole family!! If you are anywhere nearby check this place out!

Excellent pizza and loaf bread

The food, the beer and service was impeccable ! I love that owner mingles with the customers they are great god-fearing people that work very hard ! Treat yourself to some of the best hospitality , Best tasting beer and food on the East Coast right here in our backyard. When you get there ask for Tyler, He's the man !

Open roast beef sandwich and elk burger were awesome!! Good atmosphere too

Last Friday 9/6/24 I got my husband talk into eating here for the first time and we walked in my boys and all of us liked the decor they had hanging up we got sit down and the host said someone will be with you all shortly we wait and wait for a server to get are drinks and my husband was getting frustrated that no waitress came to us at all they wasn’t that busy but finally waiting 15 mins the owner Roger came up and we told him that we was new here and so he grab a number stand with a pink paper on it and he explain what that was and even said that’s unacceptable and I will find you someone and which he did and every so often he was checking on us and felt like forever to get are food so he noticed we still didn’t have are for so he brought over his crab dip with chips that was really good and said that was on him and his parents came over joked and talk to us which is why I gave them 5 stars and are waitress explain she is new there and the food was hot and fresh. So the owners made us feel important and they’re really good kind heart people that makes you feel like you known them forever.

I got the root beer which was so good and I went with the special which was 1/2 rack of ribs and there buttery potatoes and a side of coleslaw everything was made fresh and good but only thing I didn’t like was the bbq sauce which had a kick to it I’m not a spicy eater lol ?

My husband got the maple burger and fries which you can see everything was homemade but they left the maple syrup on it which my husband didn’t want on it but he said the burger had a really good taste and he told the owner everything was good just next time leave the maple syrup off of it but my husband said when we go back he wants to try another burger or the wings.

My youngest son got the bbq pulled pork pizza and said it was good but he was like me we don’t like spicy stuff so the owner we told him and he said next time tell them not to put this one stuff in it which I can’t remember what it’s called, it won’t be so spicy and we was like it was still good. My son said he will go with the pizza again.

My oldest son got bacon cheeseburger and fries he said it was the best he ever had and he said the burger and the bacon had a good taste to it and he said probably next time might try the pull pork sandwich or the famous bologna sandwich.

Sorry for the late review it’s been a busy weekend and week but the owners really turned it around for us and thank you all so much and we will definitely be back soon than you know lol ? and lol when I turn over the coasters I was lol ? and they let me take some of them home and we got stickers and we bought a 6 pack of root beer to go. I think my husband and my boys got sweet tea and said it was really good too.

Great food, great atmosphere, great beer. I travel down from Pittsburgh a few times a month to ride SXS’s and make sure screech owl is our first stop. Best part of screech owl is how friendly and inviting owners and staff are.

Amazing food. Disappointing service. Several times we had to flag down staff for drink refills. I can't speak enough on how good the food was. We started with the fully loaded pulled pork nachos. It was a delight! Then mains. We had the pulled pork sandwich, elk burger, pizza, 1lb of shrimp, and the fried bologna sandwiches. This gave us a wide cross-section of the menu and everything what hot and tasty. You could easily taste the quality ingredients were combined into food made with love. I've heard good reports of the beers and ciders, but I wasn't drinking this trip. The fries were generous and came with a Parmesan shake that was perfect. The host seated several people near us and both servers and wait staff walked by the table without noticing we were out of drinks requiring us to flag them down twice for empty cups.

The restrooms were neat, stocked, and well maintained. The decor was local and one mirror included the history of how its frame was fashioned from wood rescued from an old local schoolhouse.

The place is family run and I can tell the pride and effort the family has put into the place. If they can tackle the service issues it will be perfection. I look forward to going back and giving them the opportunity to have improved service attentiveness and ensure the service meets the quality of the food on offer.

We traveled from Buckhannon WV just to have lunch. Enjoyed flight and lunch. Met with Brewers had a great time.

Amazing FRESH menu, excellent beers. Loved the pizza, soft shell crab sandwich and the massive BLT was amazing. The spent grain bread and dough is to die for. Staff makes you want to come back. They have a sand pit for the kids. A SAND PIT. And chickens. And swag. I bought a shirt, maybe two. Best meal in Preston County.

was at SOB last night with my family. It was our first time. The place is an oasis in the middle of nowhere. The decor match the outside environment. I got the Elk burger with a side of Elk chili. Both were amazing. I ordered a flight of beers to get a taste. The choice is big but the Black Diamond Milk stout and Muddy Creek Ale were my two favorites. There was a nice band playing and the owner greeted every guest. Truly wonderful experience and we will be back.
