This review is mostly for the Buffalo Chicken Mac and Cheese, which was the best I have ever had. I typically don't get mac and cheese in restaurants because I have big expectations and am usually disappointed. It usually has that dull blandness that mixed cheeses tend to bring. This dish was perfect -- the best Mac and Cheese I have had. Maybe it's the simplicity of it that I liked most. Not too big, not overdone, no crazy hot sauce to try and wow the customer. Just a great flavor, and perfect ratio of buffalo chicken to macaroni to cheese. It was just perfect. I also got a little time to interact with the cook (not Big Joe) and he was using another (known) customer to taste test some items (sauces etc). There were only a few people in there (it was early evening on a Tuesday) so he was playing with flavors and getting feedback. I love stuff like that. It was very clear that this guy wants food to taste good. He had some down time and instead of staring at his phone, he was working on developing his craft. All in a very casual and comfortable way. Also five stars to the wonderful bartender with the ink. She was very hospitable. Can't wait to return.

I want to give this place 5 stars so bad. But I can't. They charge for soda refills and the owner sat at the end of the bar and just barked orders to the staff.

I've heard a lot of bad things about this place. People who have ate there. Got food poisoning. Some of my coworkers got food poisoning from there a week ago. I wouldn't recommend eating there.

The wife and I did not want to go home from vacation so we decided to get something to eat in Charleston. We went to Big Joes. It was difficult to get to because the roads were blocked off for some event. Once we got to Big Joes we were the only people in the place. I guess we were very early. I'm glad we went though. We shared a basket of onion rings that were crispy and delicious. The wife got the pulled pork sandwich with chips that she said was very good. I got the Big Joe Burger. It was cooked perfectly and was very good. This is a place we would for sure go back to.

Me and my co worker got food poisoning lastnight. I called just to notify them just in case they got bombarded with calls, the woman that I spoke to was very rude, wouldn’t let me speak, was very condescending, kept interrupting me and giving me attitude. Then proceeded to say “you can call tomorrow and talk to joe, or I’ll just wait for more calls THEN make a note about it.”. I went on Facebook this morning and for at LEAST 5 other people that got something fried on my news feed and they ALL HAVE FOOD POISONING. Do better “big joe”. More like sick joes

In general the price of everything here is not in line with the cost of living in the state of west Virginia and the city of Charleston. It's strange to go down the street and get a pint of an awesome craft beer for the same price as a Michelob Ultra. The markup is crazy and weird.
Suzanne RUNS this joint. Whoever owns this place, you have a STAR employee. It’s midnight on a Saturday and she is the only bar tender but somehow managing to keep this bar drinking AND EATING. She is so sweet and made this a good experience for me and my friends. Give this gal a raise !

The food was cooked perfectly. This place was also one of the few places still open at 2200 on a Tuesday. Lastly, the staff was unnecessarily kind. We were looking for a place to buy some snacks before we crashed for the night (on a road trip going across the country.) The staff not only recommended places that might still be open but they even called a few of the places to check for us. I would highly recommend this place.

Nice bar for hanging out and eat something. They also stay open late which is a bonus if your want to grab something to eat.

I went for lunch today and got the pulled pork sandwich with chips. The sandwich had a huge portion of meat, and was very delicious with a unique spicy slaw, but the chips were a little too overdone for my liking. Definitely recommend and will be back!
