“We visited 1010 tonight (6/19/25) to celebrate my five year remission for cervical cancer. Chef Paul was gracious, accommodating, and generous. Additionally, our server, Chris, was attentive, engaging, and knowledgeable. We enjoyed a small plates surprise, which was delectable, our favorite zucchini ribbons, and squash bisque to start. 10 of 10. No notes. We then shared the special, roasted duck, and the fisherman’s pie. We were mesmerized by the tiny popping peppers in the fishermen’s pie, having never seen/tried them. What a delight. It’s a rarity to experience innovation but Chef Paul has it down. We topped off our culinary delights with a few specialty cocktails, bananas foster bread pudding, and the crème brûlée of the day. My husband might’ve left me for the horchata dessert cocktail. 😋”
“The food is delicious and presentation enticing, professional and lovely. The staff are very friendly, professional and engaging with the patrons. The menu isn’t large but there is something that will delight anyone’s tastes. The atmosphere is soft and inviting. It’s a hidden gem. One of my favorite restaurants in Charleston.”
“Mark and Brenda make you feel right at home as soon as you walk in. The moonshine, whiskeys, and wines are definitely some of the best anywhere around. Always a must stop when we are in the area. You will definitely come away planning your next visit.”
“Fabulous upscale restaurant. Steak Diane, Scallops, Duck, table side Cesear salad all amazing flavors and presentation. Betty is the ultimate server and so friendly and professional.”

“beautiful... fresh.. delicious food. but they need to figure out how to deliver all meals to a table together. we had a table of six first plate came 48 minutes before the last. that's ridiculous.”
“We were going to go to a different restaurant after a conference but changed our minds after we looked at the menu prices. We found the same extravagantly-tasting food at Hale House for more reasonable fine-dining. Get a reservation, just in case, but we were able to walk in. It's near parking at the city building near the Davidson building, just a couple of minutes walk. Just spectacular: I got the pork chops with homemade au gratin potatoes. The pork chops were grilled perfectly in butter and spices, and the au gratin potatoes are the best I've ever had outside of making the box. Most restaurants cannot do au gratin potatoes and keep the cheese from breaking, but Hale's got it how it should be. My dining partner got an appetizer as an entree, crab cakes deep fried in Angel Hair pasta. It sounds weird, but the traditional crab cakes had a soft texture and the angel hair was crunchy, giving an artistic look and contrasting texture. My dining partner got a small salad, and the two together were a meal. It was $75 with tip, but no drinks or appies/ dessert. The first restaurant we looked at was $75 a PLATE! 😳😳😳 And Hale has a secret speakeasy that is fully decorated historic and the drinks are spectacular. To sum, spectacular, fine dining for reasonable prices, and fun/historic atmosphere to modern grill. I need to go back more often! 💫💫💫💫💫”

“I stopped in with my father who visits this restaurant every time he passes through and they are open. They know his face and his usual order. It impressed me right from the start. The crew is great and the food is delicious phenomenal. I highly recommend their Meatball sub as I have never had better. The affordability is amazing. I cannot wait for a chance to go back and get more food. This restaurant is a MUST!”
“On our way Home to Michigan. Spending the night in Charleston WV stopped at Bowlesboys up the creek. Bar none the best BBQ Brisket and Ribs we have ever had, the sides were delicious, portions were big, prices reasonable. What a find can't say enough good things about them.”
“First time in this building since it was Suzi's. I'm very impressed I must say. The quesadilla was amazing. The tacos I got were beef and the flavor was excellent. We also ordered Cheese dip for the chips and it was some of the best I've had. The salsa was great too. We had our food faster than we ever had at any other Mexican restaurant and the service was great.”
“We love to visit the brewery. The sour nerds and skittles beer is so good.”

“Had a dinner there last night and was taken well care of! The server was excellent! The cook(s) did an excellent job! I appreciate the addition of mash potatoes back on the menu. Thank you for the serving of garlic butter as well! Loved my experience and will be back! Would recommend!
Had the salmon with mash potatoes and fried mozzarella! Salad of course! I totally enjoyed my dinner experience!! Much love to the staff and God Bless!”
“I want to give a shout out to Reb Lobster in Charleston. The food was so good but honestly the best part was the waitor Skyler(hope I spelled that right)This waitor was honestly the best I've ever had any where! Asked for our names and always called us by them while serving us.We never ran out of bisquits, drinks, etc and it was so nice having a waitor that interacted with the customers on this level!”
“Lacey greeted us at the host stand and immediately sat us. Our table was right in front of the kitchen but staff kept conversation at a distance. We started with some tasty bread and butter. Ordered Crab cake as our appetizer— a bit small and cold in the center. But overall tasty. They were out of all steaks so we shared the Lobster Chowder and Caesar. Soup was tasty-the Caesar had spinach and not romaine but I still ate it. We split the fish and chips. Not too pleased but the ambiance and service won us over! We had a few great glasses of wine and enjoyed each other’s company. Luckily the accidentally got a nice Pinot -it made my bite!
We loved the linen service and how efficient the staff worked together. We will be back. Great for ADHD folks. So many things to observe.”
“No kidding this is the BEST place I’ve ever had the privilege of eating at. The staff are all so kind and friendly, the food is always impeccable, the restaurant itself is VERY clean! The salad is absolutely divine and the entrees are delicious! Portion size is large, I always left full, many times with leftovers. I cannot express how truly wonderful the staff are, they are all so hospitable and genuinely care about your dining experience.”

“most of the manager's, they don't care about their employees. especially the ones who are 1 hour or more late. grow up. you know what time you need to be there your schedule is made up already, do your job and be on time like you expect your employees geez one pissed off granny”
“Very good place the food was delicious and the staff was very friendly and helpful although they have a small washroom or restrooms but atmosphere in the store is fantastic. Chill.
They have ample space for truck parking. It can fit up to 12–15 trucks at a time.
Yes, you can park your RV overnight and have a very good breakfast in the morning just on the side is braum and Walmart across the road”
“We were hosting a fundraiser for 150 people and knew we needed something special for our first year event. We found EXACTLY what we needed at Thyme After Time Southern Cuisine and Catering. It is truly southern comfort food at its finest! The buffet spread was delicious, but their prosciutto wrapped, asparagus, were so flavorful and the beef and sweet potato skewers were a show stopper! I highly recommend Thyme After Time for your next special occasion. Their staff was friendly professional and really worked hard to create an unforgettable dining experience.”

“This is my favorite place! Whenever I find myself alone in town, I can go in here, sit at the bar, and enjoy a delicious lunch or brunch (except on Sunday, when they are closed 🙁). It is so comfortable and inviting. I adore everything I have eaten here! The staff are also very accommodating to my special requests. Delicioso! I highly recommend the choripollo, quesachile, and the Lupita bowls.”

“Over the past few years, East End Pub has become a regular destination that my group has included in our roster of go-to lunch spots. EEP makes an incredibly good Chicken Bacon Swiss sandwich that, IMHO, cannot be beaten. I have taken over a dozen friends and family members with me to lunch and every one of them have become regular customers of EEP. Their egg rolls are delicious and always in demand, and I have yet to encounter a menu item that disappointed. It is a small space with limited parking in its front lot, but there is ample parking along Washington Street or on East Avenue. Susan, who tends the bar, and Kendall who waits tables are always a pleasure to see and they take good care of their customers. As word has spread through town, EEP has gotten more popular and crowded, but that’s what good food will do. We have taken to arriving early to beat the lunch rush. My group of friends have ordered everything from EEP’s burgers, to hot dogs, to East End Egg Rolls to half a garden salad with a (seasoned or not) chicken breast on top, to the Rueben and to my favorite, the chicken bacon Swiss sandwich, to the breakfast platter and everything in between, and all the food has been delicious! They definitely have some of the best French fries in town! While it’s a small establishment, it’s a great size for a local neighborhood pub and a great place for lunch or dinner, or just a few drinks at the bar. They have specials for lunch that regularly change and are written on a chalkboard on the wall as you go through the front door. You seat yourself upon entering; one does not need to wait to be seated. It also has a great location at the corner of Washington Street and East Avenue which is at the foot of north side of the 35th and 36th Street bridges to Kanawha City. Overall I’d rate East End Pub at 9 stars out of 10 due to its excellent food, great service and pleasant atmosphere - and those awesome French fries!! If you want a casual tasty meal, some drinks or beers, or all of the above, East End Pub is an excellent option!”
“This place had absolutely amazing cheeseburgers, staff and a welcoming atmosphere! We stopped here for a quick bite before taking our 12 year old son to a Jelly Roll concert and will definitely be back when we are back in the area. The owner and other staff members were extremely hospitable. The pumpkin Cheesecake for dessert was scrumptious as well. Thank you to all the staff for making out of towners feel like home.”
“Haven't been there yet but am going ASAP to see a former student that's a regular Band performer there. Is he playing tonight? Black etc.”
“Called the restaurant many times Monday 11/4 to order food. Could not get to a live person answering call. Can only get the meal on phone, listed unavailable online. Sad can’t get answer to order food”

“Service was great. Our steak was overcooked and dry though which was disappointing as we were out for our anniversary. But the waitress could tell I was struggling eating it and took it off the bill without me asking for anything. That was very appreciated! They were extremely busy so we'll give them a try again. The strawberry dessert was DELICIOUS! 🤤”
“This place is consistently great. We’ve had nothing but pleasant dining experiences at Abruzzi.
The bread they serve from the Charleston bakery is SO GOOD, especially the olive bread!
We’ve been twice in the last couple of months, had the antipasto appetizer both times. It’s what you expect, sliced meats and cheese, would prefer olives, but the sweet grapes were a nice reprieve from the salty meats. The pickled veggies were really good!
The Prosciutto and Burrata Salad was also good, I would say great but it’s a big salad with a ton of arugula, it needed more dressing for sure. I’m accustomed to a creamier and more buttery burrata, this was a little drier and leaned closer to mozzarella, but still good.
I would say the appetizers and salads are “good”, but the entrees are legit! Recently, we’ve had the lobster ravioli, frutti de mare risotto (basically, seafood risotto), mushroom campanelle and spring carbonara and our family had the chicken parm, crab cakes and Alfredo… they all raved about their plates. I’m convinced you can’t go wrong with any entree.
I have to call out the frutti de mare risotto… the scallops probably rank top 3 I’ve ever had, and that’s insane because this is Charleston, WV, we aren’t near any coastline, that’s for sure. I’ve lived on the Chesapeake bay in MD, on Topsail Island, NC and Savannah, GA. How some chef in Chucktown is cooking better scallops than coastal restaurants in coastal foodie destination cities is beyond me. My only reservation is the portion of seafood to risotto… 2 shrimp and 2 scallops weren’t enough to have a bite of seafood with each bite of risotto, maybe throw in some calamari or clams to round it out.
We make homemade pasta and we do it well, on both a manual Marcato Atlas press and a kitchen-aid pasta press, we know homemade pasta. Once you have tried it you can easily identify it on a plate, it’s texturally different and more flavorful. Abruzzi is definitely making their pasta in house. The texture is divine, and the bite it perfect, every time. Now I need to find a campanelle attachment for our pasta press, it’s such a great shape for sauce to cling to!
There are other local Italian restaurants that serve great food, but Abruzzi does it better.
As a local, here’s my tip… look at the Charleston Dirty Birds schedule and visit when they are out of town, parking is readily available across the street when the team isn’t hosting a home game. If you have to park in the parking garage it’s going to ruin your dinner, urban campers use the stairwells as their personal lavatories.”

“Looking for a place that captures the heart and soul of Charleston, WV—look no further than Rock City Cake Company. The vibe is unmatched—cool, creative, and welcoming to everyone who steps inside. The food? Absolutely fabulous. Morgan is a standout—not only a rockstar business owner and creative force, but a true asset to Charleston. Her commitment to building community, supporting the arts, and keeping downtown vibrant is something our city is lucky to have. Rock City Cake Company isn’t just a bakery or a venue—it’s a whole vibe!”
“Classic friendly dive bar, everyone was so friendly and the beers were cold. I was stopping through Charleston on a larger Amtrak trip and this was one of my favorite watering holes I discovered during my time there. I was there for an hour or two during Jazz night too which was an even more fortunate coincidence.”
“Had an awesome time with both bartenders on 4/12/25!”
“Nice service bar in the food court of the Charleston Town Center Mall. Clean, tasty and quick. Good variety of dishes. Fresh steamed rice served with well prepared complimentary meats and veggies. Great if you're in a hurry. Take out too!”
“This was our first time eating here but differently not our last. Great atmosphere, service and delicious food.”
“Our food and service was amazing. The hostess, Carmen, is an absolute doll and so friendly! Our server was Caleb and he did an awesome job. Loved everything we ordered and the experience of cooking our steaks on the lava stone was so fun. Definitely recommend 100%.”

“I ordered the beef tips and noodles. Blew me away. Had never been there, but had a friend who talked about it all the time. They lived up the hill from the restaurant and she ordered weekly. “Jennifer has taken care of on several occasions in the afternoon generally. Today she did agay. (3-19-25)
She's always smiling and super busy but it never shows. I hope you let her know that it's noticed... It's a great part of the experience... Definitely we'll be back.”
“I’ve had the pleasure of eating brunch here multiple times, whatever I’ve chosen, has been amazing. The past few times I’ve selected the chicken and waffles brunch item. Normally is it a good sized selection of chicken tenders, today however, it was a selection of bone in chicken wings, thighs, and breasts. This made the meal so much better! The savory meat with the sweet waffle and candied jalapeños, amazing! It for sure entered the clean plate club! I would highly recommend going and trying anything on the menu! If the food wasn’t so good, I would have been able to get a picture before I ate every bite! Maybe next time!”
“We’re lucky to have some pretty good beer options in town and Fife is definitely at the top of the list. The grilled cheese is always good and the people working there are top notch every visit.”
