Buck's Place in Charleston WV out on Sissonville Rd is a typical dive bar. Its a great bar with a lot of locals that hang out there. This was the second bar that Tony and I went to when we first met 30 yrs ago. Its one of those small little dimly lit places where everyone knows your name. The bar is old and wooden square bar top. Beer, pool table, a few small tables and a juke box. That's about it. No liquor, beer only!!!!

Our order was accurate and tasty. I just wish that they would take a tip from places like Chick-fil-a. The line was so long and the ordering window closed. The building is a bit run down. Needs an update for sure. My peanut buster parfait didn't disappoint. I don't think I had eaten one for over a decade.

1st time eating here. Everything was excellent. Sydney our server was friendly and did a great job. We tried the open roast beef sandwich, chicken and dumplings and the boneless spare ribs. They have real mashed potatoes Everything tasted great. The coleslaw is really good also. The blackberry cobbler with vanilla ice cream was tasty. Planning on eating here again before we leave the area. The did provide me a military discount which was much appreciated. If I could give more stars I would.

Buck's reminds me of one of those cool old hole-in-the-wall joints your dad or an uncle would tell you about from back in his day. Except Buck's is a stand-alone building. Don't go looking for a mixed drink...no no. Bottled beer, a pool table, and a jukebox are what's on the menu here! And some nice people (but they're not on the menu..).

Sissonville isn't known as a food Mecca. It isn't know as a go to place to eat. However, everyone should make a trip to get some of the food from Top Spot Country Cooking. The staff is always friendly and always willing and ready to bring you some down home country cooking. My dad often orders the black beans and corn bread. It reminds me of my grandmother cooking some of the same dishes offered here. The food is great and fills me with hope to see locals saying hi to each other and talking across from table to table. The people know each other and welcome outsiders as friends who are welcome into our little down home dinner to eat!

Great place, great food, great people, great service! Everything is delicious here! I especially love their meatloaf, either as a sandwich or meal. The portions are huge! You MUST try their pie!
