Such a nice little gem. Danny and the girl at the counter are amazing and the food feels like home food. Delicious, tasty. I had the ribs with beans and smoked potato salad. Everything was perfect

Absolutely amazing place! Went on a Saturday and they had a buy one get one free bbq sandwich deal. The owner was so friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Can’t say enough about the ribs, they fall right off the bone. This place is a must if you visit Charleston!

In town for the return of the Charleston Sternwheel Regatta and decided to walk up to this BBQ joint instead of eating from the multitude of street vendors after seeing the glowing reviews. Mr. Danny and his assistant at the register were very pleasant, but sadly I would group this rack of ribs in the Top 10 worst I've ever eaten. I smoke BBQ (including ribs) for all my family gatherings, and there is no discernable smoke flavor anywhere in these ribs. There was no discernable smoke ring in the meat although it was hard to see much of anything through the overly generous portion of sauce covering the entire rack. I do like my ribs fall off the bone, but this rack of ribs was so overdone I don't know how Mr. Danny even got the ribs on the plate in less than 10 chunks. It is quite obvious these have been swimming in the broiler for multiple hours continually cooking well above and beyond the point of done, and even further past the point where they would be fall off the bone. The taste was good and I ate every bit of meat since I was starving, but I have been at numerous chain restaurants with enormous menus that serve better ribs than this. If BBQ is your specialty and you have a huge sign over your register displaying a warning that you are about to eat the best BBQ you have ever eaten, the expectation is a much higher standard than this. Swing and a miss Mr. Danny, swing and a miss.

Danny Jones has some excellent barbecue. Our family stopped in at Danny’s Barbecue and had a great lunch. Danny is quiet the historical figure as you will notice upon entering his place. He was mayor 4 times and sheriff once. Served in legislature and friends with many prominent politicians. Also is a United Stayes Marine and Vietnam Veteran. Thanks for the food and your service to our country.

Liquid smoke. Too sweet. If you walked by your would never know there is bbq. Most or all is steamed. Go elsewhere This is not bbq

Wow, amazing food! And friendly staff. You can learn quite a bit of history of the town too just by stopping in and chatting with Danny himself. Thank you for your hospitality and exquisite cooking!

Ordered the bbq with coleslaw, and with potato salad and macaroni salad on the side. The whole summer picnic, so to speak. It was ok, just not for me. It was a bit too sweet for my taste. Maybe I am just picky. I've had great bbqs before. The macaroni in the macaroni salad was too hard. The potato salad was the best thing, very simple, I liked that.

While visiting friends, I happened upon a true gem of a barbecue restaurant in Charleston. After speaking with Danny (himself), I was persuaded to try his signature 1/2 rack of ribs. I ordered a double side of Cole slaw. Without question, this was among the very best barbecue meals I’ve ever had anywhere! It’s easy to access for travelers coming off I-64. It will now be a regular stop for me while visiting friends or passing by. Outstanding!

With a 4.9 on Google, the family decided to stop on our way home through Charleston. It was worth every minute off highway as we got the treat of eating lunch with Charleston's former major, Danny Jones. The conversation was memorable as Danny treated the children as if they were his own grandchildren. On top of that, the food was perfectly smoked with a savory sweet barbecue sauce that was to good to leave any on the plate. We won't forget this stop and we will be spreading the word of the best BBQ stand. Thank you Danny!!!

Regardless of which side of the political aisle you are on, you can bet that this bbq spot from the former Mayor of Charleston will knock your socks off! Not only is the food delicious, the service is great, the portions are generous and the prices are right. The sauce had a little bit of tang to it and a unique flavor I hadn't experienced before. It played great on both the half chicken and the ribs. The baked beans, macaroni salad and potato salad were wonderful supporting characters but the chili was definitely competing to be the star of the show. It was so yummy we didn't even use crackers so we could savor its taste. The service was excellent and started even before we got in the door. Mr. Jones happened to be outside when we arrived and even though he didn't know we were coming to his place, asked my husband if he needed quarters for the meter when he was trying to figure it out (we don't get out much and haven't used the slick new card reader type). When we did go inside, we were spoken to several times and assisted way more than we expected. It was very refreshing. We enjoyed our visit here and will be back as soon as we can. I highly recommend visiting this place. Your taste buds and the small business owner will thank you.

By simply asking a question about the portion of a 1/2 vs full order of ribs (amazed in a good way at the prices for both referring to a 1/2 or full rack,) I was greeted by who I assume as “Danny” with a,”well, let me tell ya (with an annoyed sigh) you’ve obviously never been here. Our portions are generous either way. Tonight isn’t the night for you to try us.” You’re right sir, I’ve never been to your restaurant and will now never again try to. Good luck to you Mr. Mayor of 16yrs.

Everything I’ve ordered at Danny’s BBQ Stand is excellent. Of course, the ribs and pulled pork BBQ sandwiches are a must, but don’t overlook the chili with housemade croutons! Also, check out the smoked chicken salads, baked beans and potato salad! Cozy dining room to eat-in, or take it to-go.
