Definitely recommend—Fife Street offers a warm, inviting, and friendly atmosphere nestled in the heart of Charleston, WV. You’re greeted with excellent live music upon entering, along with a fantastic food and drink selection to match whatever vibe you’re feeling. Management and staff are top tier. Not to mention, they offer excellent alcohol-free options as well. I’ll be back—this is truly a gem in the Charleston, WV area.
There aren't enough stars for this business. I would give them 10, if I could. We were in Charleston for 3 nights and visited Fife Street Brewing the 1st night. We met many of the staff, Dylan, Tristan, Katie, Cody, Connor, & Erik. The food had a beautiful appearance and was mouthwateringly delicious. I had a flight of beer and each one was flavorful. I couldn't decide which one was the best. We visited Fife all three nights and brought new friends with us. We met the owner, Lisa and had a wonderful conversation. All in all, Fife is a phenomenon. We felt like family. It's no wonder it is such a great success. Check it out when you are in Charleston. You will be happy you did.
Awesome people, great food and fantastic beers!
Great brews and grilled cheese!! Loved this spot and definitely will go again!!
Most imaginative grilled cheese sandwiches I've ever seen. And delicious! Great vibe
Nice little urban brewery with a great selection of beers and both indoor and outdoor seating. We didn't order any food, but the orders we saw looked terrific. Traveling by Charleston on I-64? Stop in for lunch or dinner!
As someone new to Charleston, I couldn’t have asked for a better introduction to the city than this incredible brewpub. From the moment you walk in, the warm, welcoming vibe hits you. The ambiance is perfect; laid-back yet vibrant, with a real sense of community and creativity pulsing through the space.
The staff is fantastic; genuinely friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about what they do. Huge shout out to John Q, who runs this place like a tight ship with heart. His commitment to supporting Charleston’s arts scene is more than talk, it’s part of the pub’s soul.
This spot has quickly become my go-to hangout. It also happens to be perfectly located, a central hub for nearly every downtown or waterfront event.
If you're in Charleston and want a true taste of the city’s heart, this is it.
Stopped for lunch on the way through town. Unique space downtown, small. Outdoor seating is available. Only option this time was a standing table for three of us to try fitting all of our dishes. Food was quality, and the beer was good. Would recommend trying Fife Street if you are looking for a snack and a good craft beer. Parking is incredibly difficult. First time I gave up and went somewhere else, second time had to park in a shady garage five blocks away.
If you want a truly exceptional beer in CRW, this is the gettin’ place. Wonderful beer (I’ve tried several; all are fantastic). Staff is as good as they get. Dylan gave me a tour of their brewing facility, and it was so clean you could eat off the floor. I was completely impressed with everything and everyone. This is a fantastic business on the upswing, and deservedly so. Go here. You won’t be disappointed.
Friendly service, great beer, and good food, too!

The curry wrap and wine spritzer were so tasty! And super dog friendly outside with water bowls. Staff were amazing and it's a great spot to people watch!
I’ve been a regular customer at Fife since their grand opening, visiting 1–2 times a week and was always friendly, respectful, and supportive. I shared positive reviews, recommended them to others, and genuinely loved the atmosphere, food, and community focus. Their street corn grilled cheese was a weekly craving. The backstory: In October 2023, I had a brief and meaningless spat on social media (something most of us have experienced) with someone who also happens to be a convicted animal abuser (who happened to starve their cats and place them in a freezer). After I blocked them, they and their friends began harassing me and people close to me with false Facebook posts, a bullying group, and even a fake profile using my name and photo. I did my best to ignore it and move on with my life, pushing it into the back of my mind. I continued going to Fife without issue, even greeted warmly by GM John Query, completely forgetting that the person involved worked in the kitchen. An entire six months later, in April 2024 (after continuing to visit 1–2 times a week with no issues), I was unexpectedly pulled aside and told I was being accused of “harassing an employee.” When I asked for clarification, I was met with vague, HR-sounding responses about “forgiveness” and “second chances,” but no real explanation. I tried to follow up respectfully, reaching out several times over five months and even requesting contact information for the owners. I was left on read, ignored, and never given the courtesy of a real conversation. After letting it go for nine months (thinking we’d all moved on like adults), I tried reaching out again. I was once again ignored. Only after a more assertive approach did I finally receive the owners’ contact emails. I sent a calm, professional, and thoughtful message explaining my side and how disheartened I was to be treated this way, especially as someone who had supported the business so consistently. The response I received from owner Josh Dodd was cold and dismissive. It clearly hadn’t been read with care, just a rather short, generic, lawyer-sanitized, HR-approved reply. He claimed “several employees” felt uncomfortable with my presence, despite the fact that I only know of two employees who work there. Worse, he insinuated that my mental health had been a topic of discussion among staff, ending with a condescending “please seek help.” It’s disturbing to know that deeply personal struggles can become gossip fodder within the workplace, especially when tolerated, if not outright perpetuated, by management. To be shut out of a place I supported, without due process or an honest conversation, feels both cruel and retaliatory. I am not seeking revenge nor am I trying to stir up any more drama than has already happened. My goal is not to see anyone lose their job nor encourage the business to be “cancel”. In fact, I hope people continue to support all local businesses here, as they are essential to the growth of our local community and economy. Fife has especially been a big part of that growth, has given back to the community, and has created a unique space for locals and those traveling through to enjoy a pint with friends in a welcoming, laid-back atmosphere. I’m not asking to be allowed back, nor would I want to return after being treated this way. While I respect Fife’s commitment to supporting their employees, I also believe customers deserve fairness, dignity, and transparency. I still believe in supporting local businesses, but I believe in accountability, too. I hope Fife’s management learns to handle future concerns with more empathy, honesty, and respect.
Rude staff and mediocre beer. Doesn’t live up to the hype at all.
Excellent grilled cheeses and drinks. Beautiful vibe outside the brewery.
I had the Charlie West Coast IPA, I Plead the Fife Double IPA, and the Charleston Beer Golden Ale. All were delicious! Cozy atmosphere, stellar staff.
