We try to find local restaurants to enjoy on road trips and Kel’s did not disappoint! The service was superb! Our server greeted us with a smile and couldn’t have been more friendly and attentive throughout our whole meal. The restaurant is comfortable and has a very relaxed, but energetic vibe. The food was delicious! We enjoyed the fried green tomato appetizer (yum!), salad (OMG those homemade croutons!!) and meatloaf sandwich (scrumptious and hearty!). The portions were very plentiful. It was a very quick distance off the highway and if we’re passing through this way again, we will definitely make this a must stop!

We went when they very first opened and it was okay. We went back last night after giving them some time to work out the kinks and it was fabulous! Our waitress Redd was so wonderful, especially with little things. She brought lids so we could take our sauce cups to go, that's such a classy thing to do! I've never had someone do that unprompted!
We got the pimento cheese fries as an appetizer. I was a bit hesitant as pimento isn't my favorite but they were awesome! My mom is a pimento snob and she loved them too. We tried the meatloaf sandwich (ridiculously good), tavern burger (also incredibly good) and the fish sandwich. The fish sandwich was a touch dry but I was able to ask for more of the sauce that goes on the fish and it was perfect then. That may be on me, I love sauce, so I won't ding them on that.
It was a great experience. We live very close so I am so pleased they seem to have gotten all the issues from the first time worked out. Forgot to take a photo while there but I have my leftovers and that is just HALF of the fish sandwich, it is huge!

Wow. The pretzel with beer cheese was probably the best I've ever had. The meatloaf sandwich was also amazing. And all the sides we tried (French fries, potato chips made in-house, and mac & cheese) were top-notch. I can't wait to go back and try something else!

There was a 10 minute wait time quoted, that was a lie in the best way possible, at most it was 4-5 minutes. Very clean restaurant, the smell of delicious food hits you as soon as you open the door. The manager, Austin, Preston, Justin? not sure, I didn't hear his name clearly, my fault not theirs, super friendly and extremely welcoming. I have no clue who the chefs were tonight, but the product they put out was absolutely amazing! our server Nasyia was spectacular, we waited little to no time to be greeted, our drinks hit the table within maybe 1 or 2 minutes, which is awesome because they were SLAMMED, she was amazing! good quality, service, cleanliness, care for guests 900/10 will recommend.

Atmosphere was fine. Food was mediocre. Had a burger and fries. Burger was pre-made patty, fries were ok. Appetizers, salads, and entrees brought out all at the same time. Had to track down the waitress 3 times for refills. Food was slow. Restaurant wasn't particularly busy. Not impressed. Don't plan to return.

We decided to try Kel's on a Sunday afternoon. When we arrived, it was busy but not full. The wait staff said it would be a bit of a wait for food, which we were OK with. We ordered drinks at the bar and food the same time as the couple next to us.. 45 minutes later the couple received their food but we didn't. We waited 25 more minutes and still no food. We asked for the bill and were told the food would be right out.... 10 more minutes and still no food... I asked again for the bill if food was not eminent. We left money on the bar for drinks and left... I have never done that before. I understand people and businesses have bad days but we witnessed kitchen staff not working and just wondering around. I have never left a bad review and try to focus on the positive, but this was too much to overlook.

The restaurant looked nice from the outside so we gave it a try. Staff was nice, but seemed a bit shortstaffed and stressed. The meatloaf was good along with the loaded potatoes, portions a bit small. The chicken marsala lacked flavor and no seasoning at all on the grilled chicken. Sauce was thin like water. Next time will be a different restaurant for Charleston trip.

We had a personable server, good food and a good time. Acoustic treatments to ease conversation for seniors would be appreciated

This is my second time visiting Kel’s Tavern. After treating a client last week I asked a girlfriend to meet me for lunch today and we sat at the bar. Just like last time, the food was phenomenal, and I plan to bring another client to dine here tomorrow. James was working the bar today and he was the most attentive and helpful bartender; food recommendations to wine pairings, he’s my new favorite. I will definitely be back, especially on the days he works.

First time at Kel’s, Danielle was awesome. I had the sirloin cooked perfect and my husband had the shrimp Alfredo it was good but needs more shrimp. It only had 6 pieces of shrimp. We had the bruschetta for an appetizer some of the best that I’ve had in our area. Stop in at Kel’s it won’t disappoint.
