This restaurant is a little south of ok, but for the price that makes it 1 star. 3 people in my party ordered steak. All steaks were over cooked significantly. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone based on my experience.

What's the saying you can't go home again? While Laurys was once the go to of Charleston's elegant food scene it isn't the restaurant it once was... Food was less than stellar, I haven't heard so many dishes dropped in as long time and all in all a bit mediocre. I wanted to love it like I did decades again, but unfortunately it just isn't the same.

Laury's offers a high end option in the mediocre Charleston food scene. Their atmosphere is unmatched by any venue in the area, with beautiful classic decor overlooking a great scene of the Kanawha River and Levee. Their noise level is very well managed, an issue that plagues many restaurants in town. Their service also stands as some of the best in town, with great attention to detail. Their food does not meet the standards set by the atmosphere. This is one of the most expensive restaurants in town, and it suffers issues with inconsistency and ingredient quality. One time is too many for seafood that has gone off, and in a recent visit, shrimp was delivered that might have been 12 hours away from being spoiled. A majority of the time, you'll receive a good, quality dish, but I don't believe that's an acceptable enough standard for the price paid. It seems the quality of the food has slipped since the pandemic, which is a shame. It is a venue worth considering for those looking for an exceptional atmosphere, but be ready to send back something if the quality is not up to par.

Highly professional and courteous. Nice place to visit.
My husband and I ate here with friends, and it was honestly some of the worst food I have ever had, I had the lobster and it was disgusting and it made me sick!! My husband had the duck, and it tasted like chicken, it was better than mine but not much. I should have sent it back but I really don't do that. I will never be back!!

I’ll say, absolutely phenomenal!!! Well worth the money. I had the opportunity to eat here for prom with a friend of mine. The food was jaw dropping and the service was very friendly. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. I can’t wait to eat here again in the future!! I also recommend getting a reservation too.
