Someone said the original chef was back so after two years I thought I'd try again. It's alarming how incredibly bad this food is. Fried rice tastes like it has been sitting for 2 days and is so dry it almost crumblesin your mouth and the crab rangoon is somehow chewy. The egg roll is even nasty, has an odd aftertaste and is mushy. This place is just awful. People around here trade quality for nostalgia and has to be what the positive reviews are about. Yuck! Rice Bowl in Cross Lanes is worth the drive instead.

Food has ALWAYS been amazing! Today though was beyond special! I am in a wheelchair and while having my car serviced across the street, my husband and I decided to get lunch. Although their dining room has 2 steps, they wrangled with their other door to get it unlocked so I was able to eat. No wonder this is the only Chinese I eat in Charleston! They went way up and beyond for me and it was heartfelt appreciated!!

Food is great, prices are great. Fast and reliable. Inside looks dingy and the staff are kind of dismissive but they are busy so I personally dont mind it. Just don't be surprised if you go there and feel they are rude. They really are not rude they are just busy.

They don't have gloves on when handling the food. Will not be going back again.

I called them to place a delivery order and they told me 20 dollar minimum and cash only. I then began to ask why I couldn't pay with a card and the guy just hung up on me while I was talking. Very rude.

We stopped here out of desperation to find universally appealing food for our large group, which also included a vegetarian. The restaurant is clearly not intended to encourage people to dine in. The lady at the front desk was rude. Service was fast, however, and the food was hot and of decent if not super notable quality. Tldr: still better than McDonald's.

I ordered the Chicken Egg Foo Young because it's one of my favorites. I even ordered an extra gravy and was so disappointed in the gravy it was thick, pasty, and oily unlike any Foo Young gravy I've ever eaten. This has completely changed my opinion about Main Kwong. Not to mention a year ago I ordered Chicken Wings and had a piece of wire from the scrubbing pads they use to clean their equipment.

The crispy chicken is out of this world! Egg rolls are also delicious! I highly recommend this restaurant!

They’re the unfortunate product of no competition over a length of time. If you’re craving Chinese, go to the one by the dmv at lunchtime. Main kwong used to be the best in Charleston, but it’s just not worth it anymore.
