Last Saturday evening, the EHS Class of 1971 celebrated our 51st HS reunion at the 1863 catered by Velora. Around 60 people attended and had an excellent time! Even with a major electric outage that evening, everyting ran smoothly and was delicious. We had a buffet style meal and cash bar. The food was delcious and complemented the warm environment. Many classmates offered positive comments on the food and how well the evening was managed. THANK YOU so much for making our class reunion such a memorable celebration. Pat (Hiser) Shinn
1863 Appalachian Bistro catered our event for the last two days. They did a wonderful job. Danyelle and Mike took care of our every need. The food was great and the set up was very nice. Contact them for your catering needs.
Very disappointed took 45 min to get a salad, soup & quesadilla. My salad was wilted after being in the bag with a hot quesadilla, soup was not good and quesadilla was all veggies and did not taste good at all. The service was horrible I would not recommend this to anyone. The waitress offered to fix me a drink and never came back to see what I wanted. I will not be back to give this upscale bistro a second chance.
Right next to Wingate Hotel so it was Super convenient. We went on a Saturday evening at 7 PM. There was only one girl working. Her name was Shay. She was the hostess bartender waitress and cashier. She kept her cool and was very friendly and professional. My son and I both ordered the sirloin steak. I had asparagus and macaroni and cheese. Everything was cooked exactly as we ordered. The complimentary cinnamon roll at the end of the meal was the “icing on the cake”. I really enjoyed this restaurant and recommend it to anyone visiting Elkins.
Yum. Yum and yum. We did take out and got the 6 oz sirloin with baked potato. I got the cucumber tomato salad and my wife got grilled asparagus. All done to perfection. Steak was tender and juicy cooked exactly like we asked for. The baked potato was one of the best we've had. My salad was very tasty and fresh. Would absolutely recommend this place if staying in Elkins,WV.
We used 1863 Appalachian Bistro to caterer a Celebration of Life/Reunion for our family in Philippi. The brought the food to event, setup, served, packaged leftovers, and cleaned-up.The All-American Buffet was a great spread. We had many options to choose from to satisfy all our guests desires. My gluten-free daughter was able to discuss the menu and ingredients with the two servers during setup to ensure she didn't have an issue. They were awesome and were able to tell her the ingredients they used to make the items that morning.Velora and Mike were great to work with and I would highly recommend them to caterer your next event! Thanks for making our event so special - everyone loved the food!
Staying next door at the Wingate by Wyndham Suites next door. Stopped in for a couple Drinks and Some food. Staff was very friendly. Food was excellent and swapped stories with the Owner “Mike”. Finished off the stop with a West Virginia Sunset…..Stop in and say hi to Mike. Well worth the stop.
Food was good however service sucked. Took 3 hours for dinner. Then add 20 percent tip and never returned my change
I’m sure it was just an “off” night, but if I’m ever in this area again, I wouldn’t go back to this restaurant. They were out of more items than they had...no fried green tomatoes, no baked potatoes, no stuffed shrimp, no chocolate milk—asked for regular milk since they were out of chocolate milk, but never received it, no hamburgers, table next to me was told another item was unavailable. I ordered the crab cake dinner—could not see or taste any crabmeat. There was a lot of onions, peppers, and some type of cornmeal or breadcrumbs—lots of “fillers”, but not so much crabmeat. Crabmeat dinner was $22—included 2 sides. I ordered the asparagus and a side salad from the sides option list—then was charged $7 for the side salad. I pointed that out and it took two people to figure out how to remove it from my bill. My grandson had chicken quesadillas with fries. The chicken was tough and way overcooked. My six year old grandson said there was no cheese on them—there was cheese, but you had to look for it—you couldn’t taste it. Of the three quesadillas, I ate 1/3 of one, he ate 1/3 of one, and the third one was not touched. I can attest to the fact that the fries were excellent. I paid $31 for food that literally gave me indigestion all night—and I never have indigestion. Unfortunately, since I never have that problem, I had nothing to take, and being in an unfamiliar town, I did not go back out to get anything for it. Needless to say, I don’t plan on ever going back there again.
Cozy, friendly people, great food!

Good food and met nice people...
Had prime rib. Wife had sirloin. Both were perfect. Baked potatoes and veggies were also great. Bartender is a nice and friendly guy. Pretty nice place within rock throwing distance of our hotel.
Friendly and fast and just seemed like you had always known them. Great food too
