Smoke on the Water BBQ

Ordered the brisket sandwich, which consisted of 3 thinly sliced pieces of brisket like 1/8” thick on store bought Texas toast . That was it! $15.99. The meat barely covered the bread. At least the toast was flavorful, that’s all I’ll say about this experience. Waste of money, be our last trip.

My husband and I had dinner reservations for Valentine’s Day. We had decided ahead of time that we were going to order the Valentine’s Day Special, which was an appetizer, two entrees, and a dessert. My husband ordered the prime rib, and I ordered the seafood pasta. We were then told both entrees had to be the same. Nowhere on the advertisement did it state any special conditions regarding the two entrees. I told our waitress I was a pescatarian and didn’t eat meat. She explained that that was her boss’s conditions and she wasn’t supposed to allow it. She was pleasant about it and somehow, she made it happen that we each got our own entrees (we had no qualms about sharing the appetizer and dessert). Every time I eat or drink at this establishment, some kind of nonsense like this happens, and I am reminded that I am clearly not welcome. This time, however, I will likely not return. I certainly hope our server did not suffer repercussions for her brave courageous act of accommodating her customer. We made sure she was compensated for her effort; however, the management of this restaurant is going by the playbook of how nearly every single organization in the Elkins-Randolph County area plays their game. Poor and unsophisticated organization and management.

I do not recommend takeout. Not sure if the atmosphere in the restaurant makes it worth it but the food definitely does not. I called to mention how my order was nothing as it was supposed to be and got laughed at.

Came in and ordered to go. It was 4:15, not overly busy. Sat there 30, no food. Asked about it, said it would be right out. 10 mins later overheard while the cashier and 4 other servers were at the cash register that my order hadn't gone in. Servers take off and cashier tells me sorry. Wait 10 more minutes, got food. Left off one sandwich, Cole slaw and sauce. Then had to wait longer for that. I finally got all my food at 5:05. Not a good experience at all. Didn't alert manager because I figured they knew and would come apologize, nothing. While the food was good once we got home, if I knew we would have to wait so long, we could've just eaten inside.

Been wanting to stop and try this place out for a while. Finally got a chance to stop. Great service. Food was excellent. Got the full rack of ribs. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. The wife got the bbq meatloaf grilled cheese. There was no way we could eat it all.

I ordered the brisket and cheese curds. The brisket was very greasy… it tasted like it was deep fried which made me question how long ago it was actually made. The number of good reviews of this place gives the illusion that it is excellent but in reality it is 2 out of 5 for barbecue. Not terrible but not great either. A lot of room for improvement

Don't go wast of money. Bad bbq bad service brisket sandwich was 1 thin slice of dry meat cut into 3 pices on white bread. Pulled pork was dry and smelled like dirty but. Potato salad was not home made seem like sams club brand. When the food came to the table server sneezed on our food placed it on the table and walked away like she did nothing wrong. every thing is alacart so you pay extra for sides. Then this took the cake I asked host where the restroom were she said over by the door and don't leave without paying. What an insult. They must have lots of ppl that refused to pay for the garbage they serve. I can understand why. Stay far away from this dump.

Love the decor. Taxidermy game animals & lots of wood beams etc. No smoke on the water this time though. Due to the drought the stream next to it was completely dried up. Nice atmosphere anyway.

My name is Roger and this is my wife’s account. After placing our order we sat there for an hour with no contact from our waitress to refill drinks or bring a salad. There were six of us. While patiently waiting for our waitress and our food we watched a group of 11, a family of 4, and a family of 3 and another couple receive their food and drinks before us. Mind you they all came in after us 20 to 30 minutes later. Not to mention the outside had absolutely no one out there when we first arrived. Some of them also received food before us. All of them had a different waitress than us. After an hour passed I went to the front desk and asked to speak with the manager. I explained to Denise the Manager the situation. She apologized and used the excuse she was short staffed which was not true because there was an abundance of employees walking around. Finally Denise came back to our table and said I’m not gonna lie your waitress’s order went to another printer that doesn’t work so we never got your order but we are taking care of it and I will discount your meal. I said ok and thank you. So after our meal we sat and waited to receive our bill which took again forever. Mind you other tables have come and gone with different waitress staff working. Finally I receive my bill and saw it seemed a little high considering I was told it would be discounted so I asked Denise. She said I gave you a 10% discount since it was about service not the food. I said ok and just went with it. So I give her my debit card and she brings my receipt and it was more than the original bill. So I asked a young girl that worked there if they charged a cc fee. Denise whom I wasn’t speaking too said yes we charge a 5% fee and that you know all restaurants do that now. I just grind and shook my head, didn’t say a word. She started raising her voice and said Sir apparently you’ve never worked in the restaurant business before? I said yes ma’am I have I worked 4 years in one. She then continued to get even more irate and said in an even louder voice well apparently your just a poor customer and you haven’t seen me running my butt off around here all night. Not only are we extremely busy but we have a wedding party as well. I said yes ma’am I have watched your waitress running around but I have been here for two hours now and watched numerous customers come and leave. All the mean while customers are standing around looking at me because she is irate at this point and raising her voice because I questioned my bill. Not one time did I ever raise my voice or disrespect one of your employees. I simply questioned why we had waited over an hour to get our food while others had come and gone. And as a paying customer I have EVERY right to question my bill since I’m the one paying. Your manager Denise did not like being questioned. She was very disrespectful and unprofessional. Not to mention she had one excuse and lie after another when questioned. The wedding party came in an hour after us but she used them as an excuse as to why we didn’t get our food instead of just saying we screwed up. Myself, family, and friends have eaten at your restaurant numerous times since you have opens many years ago. I have ALWAYS had good customer service up until tonight and the food has ALWAYS been great including tonight. But I am here to tell you that your manger Denise is a very poor customer service manager. If she can’t handle the stress of being busy you have the wrong person for the job! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!! I have eaten at the Smokehouse at Blackwater falls several times this year alone and have always had excellent customer service and excellent food! But tonight I chose your place of business to be disrespected by someone who is suppose to de-escalate situations not try to enhance them. Again not one time tonight did I raise my voice or disrespect one of your employees I just simply questioned the service and cost which I am entitled to do as a paying customer.

Great dining experience Thursday night. Food, service, and drinks were wonderful. Save room for dessert!

Excellent food. The barbecue is full of flavor and sides were all fantastic. Great atmosphere on the deck.
