Loved it here! Our food was great (pulled pork grilled cheese and the burger), and I like that they make everything in house or it's locally sourced. The inside has a rustic decor, though there aren't tons of seating options inside. They had so many great looking desserts. I had a slice of carrot cake, and it may have been the best I've ever had! I would highly recommend this place.

Overpriced. Their sandwiches don't come with any sides like chips or fries, and they are $11-13 range. I ordered The Bird and the chicken was chewy. The drinks come in a plastic cup and so do the forks and knives. Disappointed.

Fantastic cafe!!! Gourmet comfort food in a cozy chic setting. The staff is personable and attentive as well as skilled with sandwich making, baking and coffee brewing. This place is a MUST stop if you are heading to Fallingwater

I love the atmosphere here- tucked away in the mountains close to Ohiopyle state park, you find the cute and quaint bittersweet cafe. The main parlor is set up with an outdoorsy and rustic vibe. There is also an attached antique store. Upon arriving, we parked in the back and it was kind of unclear whether or not the place was even opened. When we entered, we were greeted by folks in the antique part but there was no one in the actual food service area. I just ordered coffee; it was good and fulfilled my craving after a long morning of biking the Allegheny Passage. Food here is very expensive, but I didn't try anything so I cannot attest to flavor. The outdoor sitting area in the front and back of the cafe are very chic and peaceful!

Upon driving into Bittersweet the ambience was like a fall festival. We were excited to sit in the veranda while enjoying good food. The set up reminded me of a cafeteria line; this is totally insane. There was a huge line of people, one worker would take an order, than go back an start cooking. Yea, right - like I stated "insane" setup. We waited 25 minutes and decided to go elsewhere - so did about 18 other people who waited for over 45 minutes - JUST to order!!! The gift shop was useless!

This was my first time in the area and we found this gem. We ordered the carrot cake & cheesecake with a latte & iced Chai tea. It was the best cheesecake that I've had in years. The carrot cake was mighty delicious too. This is a mom & pop run business and I'd go here daily if I was closer.

This place was very very expensive. It was busy when we went in. I was given a number for my order and sat outside. I was with a group of 9 and I ordered first. As everyone from my groups order came out first I finally went inside to see where my order was. They didn't even have my order so after about 30 minutes finally I got my order last. Wasn't a great first impression. All I had was an iced coffee and a slice of cake.

Absolutely the best restaurant in the Yough Lake area. We went for lunch yesterday & had a wonderful meal. I had the toasted cheese sandwich with pulled pork & it was delicious. My husband had the toasted cheese sandwich with bacon & was equally happy. The smoothies are delicious, too. So creamy & flavorful. I chose strawberry banana. Yum! We ate outside, which meant we were able to bri g our Welsh terrier along. Love doing this! The one caveat I will add about Bittersweet is that the meal isn't fast. We're fine with this because the food is so good & there also is plenty to do to make the time pass. We had three children with us, but they kept busy playing in the wooded area surrounding the restaurant. There's also a little antique shop to visit.

Recommended by a good friend of mine.. we fell in love with this restaurant just walking in. There's a little shop with gift items you can walk through to get to the café. It was there we were greeted by an adorable gray cat - fell in love! I ordered the pulled pork and cole slaw and strawberry lemonade smoothie and my boyfriend ordered the burger. I enjoyed my meal and smoothie very much and had a bite of the burger.. it was amazing!! My boyfriend has not stopped talking about this burger! The service was outstanding while ordering. We asked many questions - all were answered and they were very accommodating. The café is so charming to look at inside and out.. we look forward to returning. 5 stars - deserved. Bravo.

The service was terrible. I arrived at 5:45 and the clerk said the kitchen closes at 5:45, so I could only get a desert or drink. I sat outside and was served the slice of Cake. Ten minutes later two groups I was sitting next to, were served their meals. It was evident that the employees were just interested in getting out of there. They were closing and they were watching the clock.

Amazing ambiance and good. Highly recommend the breakfast sandwich. Everything is made from scratch including the English muffin. Everything is also farm to table. Staff is very friendly. Would go back again!

We ended up coming here 3 times in one week becuase the setting was so lovely and the food was so healthy and delicious and much more reasonably priced than Nemacolin resort! Beautiful cottage garden setting with a wraparound porch with lots of friendly locals. Everything we had was delish: breakfast sandwich, the pecan dried cranberry salad (either with chicken or salad was good), and the Bird sandwich. I would have liked the creamy cucumber salad with a bit more dill but that would be my only critique. The coffee and teas are AMAZING! We love coffees and teas and kept commenting how good these were. Service was great too.

One of the best burgers I have ever had! Everything is fresh and local, and the atmosphere is beautiful. A tad pricey, but you really get what you pay for

I absolutely loved Bittersweet Cafe! I love the decor, the flowers, and the porch swing. I also love the idea behind using local ingredients. We were passing through visiting Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob and I am glad we had 2+ hours to enjoy lunch here and not be rushed. We got there at the right time and didn't have much issue with the wait time, but I can see how it can get busy and become a problem if you are looking for a quick lunch. My lunch date and I had the burger, which we loved. The mac and cheese was also very satisfying. The dessert impressed me the most, I had the chocolate raspberry mousse. It was fantastic and homemade, even my date liked it (and doesn't like chocolate!).

An unexpected pleasant surprise while driving across Pennsylvania. The food here is fresh and delicious and much better than other options in the area
