I'll start by saying I've never had a bad experience at this place before now, I always got the same food but this time I was let down.I went with 2 friends on the 29th, I got myself a Kitchen Sink wrap with onion rings on the side, okay with paying the upcharge for it. The wait wasn't that long but when our food arrived I got my wrap with fries, I asked my server why that was and she said they were out of onion rings. That was the first issue. I bit my tongue and smiled letting her know it was a-okay and ate my food. Sink wrap was kinda lukewarm fairly bland and a lil flat, probably due to the lack of onion rings (which are supposed to go inside it as well) but I ate it. Had to pick some tinfoil off my fries and wrap because I'm not too into eating metal but that's fine, helps the aesthetic. The fries were pretty burnt but eh, ketchup helps anything I guess. After that I wanted to order an Oreo pie and you were out so I asked my server if the Butterfinger one was walnut or graham cracker crust since I can't stand walnut (autism making certain food textures unbearable for me). She said it was graham cracker crust so I went with that to-go.After a bit we got our bill and the 2nd issue arrived, I was charged for those nonexistent onion rings? I think the girl forgot about that but I said I'd just let her know when we went to pay.3rd issue was realized shortly after we got our bill... we had to pay with Cashapp and the girl never came back to our table to situate this. We waited a while, almost as long as it took for our food to arrive, to the point one of us joked about leaving but my friend got up and had to talk to her about it and we finally got it paid. I let the girl off with the onion rings upcharge, not even mentioning it because I was tired and wanted to go home to eat my pie and sleep. We all left tired and frustrated but all wasn't that bad.I got home and bit into the pieIt was walnut crust

McDonald's has better milkshakes. Don't waste your money. I've been here 3 times in my life and each time I question why I came... The staff are unimpressive. The kitchen crew don't wear hair nets. The desserts are extensive in display/aesthetic but lack in taste and are way overpriced for the quality. Sorry Poky Dot but you need to step it up.

It's always been a goal to hit up the Poky Dot anytime we're in Fairmont. Known for their "Oversized Portions", Amazing Fancy Milkshakes, and cool 60s style dinner atmosphere.Sadly to say, my wife and I did not get this experience this time. I fully understand this economy is garbage right now, and as a Business Owner myself I fully understand the struggle. This being said, $9 for 5 grease burnt mozzarella sticks started our meal off a little on the sour side.I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Wrap that comes on a "Mound of Home cut Fries". When received, it was a small wrap that seemed to have an entire bottle of Buffalo sauce pouring out of it. The Mound of Fries was equivalent to a Wendy's Kid meal, and they were almost solid black from grease burn. $15My wife ordered the Colossal Croissant with Mound of Fries. Croissant was delivered, however they must have lost the Colossal part of it. Also came with a small portion of Black fries. $15.They no longer had the ability to take Credit / Debit cards so we had to pay with CashApp.Total bill was $50 after a $9 tip. I really hope they get back on their feet with Quality because we really loved this place.

I have Never been so disappointed in my life with a supposed town attraction. I moved here a few years ago, and heard nothing but great things about this place. But that place is trash, and even though it burned down once, someone wasted their money and energy trying to recreate a time that never was.My list is specific with what is wrong with the restaraunt, but none of it should be fixed. They should have left that lot as an empty pile of ash and fond memories. The place isn't very accessible, and hasn't been for a while. The doorways are tight and have worthless access ramps, the register and back areas are difficult to access with wheels. The parking lot might as well be nothing put a pile of jagged concrete blocks, for all the good it does as an invitation to stop in.I would sooner walk/crawl/drag/push myself the length of the Middletown Commons parking lot for a $15 Taco Bell taco, rather than ever park more than 3 feet from the door at Poky Dot for a $25 ice cream or an $11 dollar hot dog. The lot is rough and poorly laid out/marked. The point is that If you have wheels under you, your teeth might rattle out of your mouth. Dentures or not.The atmosphere is one of sad desperation, and has been for a while. That kind of decaying attitude takes time to cultivate.I never knew what it looked like when a business gave up. Now I do. Seriously, if you dont' want to be better, then just be closed. All the time. Every day. Save yourselves the operating costs, and save us from the utter disappointment of actually making the effort to get into the building after crossing that jagged entry way. Only to be confronted with the "Saddest Little Ice Cream Shop", I have ever had the displeasure of hearing about, let alone actuall seeing from the inside. The prices are outrageous for food, given the blatant lack of interest in making a fun dining experience, the least they could do is be semi-reaasonable in the current economy. Or any economy, seeing as how the have the temerity to charge more that $25.00 for a banana split (incl tax). The menus were old, worn out, faded, and scratched to the point of potentially having uncertain sanitary standards. So apparently have had those insultingly high prices for a while now.The seasonal decorations were past the current season, and they were hung with no regard for anyone over 6 feet tall. One part of the building appeared to have a hall effectively blocked off at ceiling level, without having to dodge the roughly 8 large shamrocks hanging from the ceiling, that is.The store couldn't even handle most sales. Some, but not at all. They couldn't accept any digital transactions, it was listed as cash only on the sign on the way in. Which, by the way, is a challenge by itself if there is ANYONE in your group that might needs a wheeled device for mobility. And, as this whole review starts downhill, it only gets worse. They could only do cash sales, and couldn't make correct change.I had high hopes for what I was told was a "Fairmont Attraction".I am a not asking Fairmont to rally around your beloved Poky Dot, I am begging the owner/operators to close. Just close the store if you really don't want to be in a competeitve business like the food industry. The momories you are trying to sell never existed, and the prices you are charging for what is nothing more than a little roadside attraction are an insulting. This place is absolutely IFURIATING, for the lack of service, the lack of exterior access, the lack of a working sales system, the lack of effort in the new interior (I imagine it looked the wrong kind of "Old" the day it was new), and now the whole store interior seems to be having a competition with the customers to see who can be more depressing in a place that is supposed to be fun.The minimum number of stars listed is 1star. And it does deserve that "1" because at least the building didn't fall on me while I was in there looking at that bleak and lonely scene. We would be better off it if had fallen down when it ca

I live in Southern WV and had seen the Poky Dot on television in the past. I was eager to give the place a try. The owner or manager, whichever she was, was incredibly nice and so very attentive. The place was busy. Unfortunately I can't say the same for our waitress. She was horribly rude and said things that really didn't make a whole lot of sense. We were met with a very foul smell upon entering the restaurant. We ordered wings, a chicken salad croissant, a burger, pot roast and a sausage biscuit. The chicken salad croissant as well as the burger and wings were good. The other food items were absolutely horrible. The pot roast was cold, meat was tough and almost the consistency of wet dog food.My husband was told that they could make a sausage bagel but not a biscuit but then was told he could have sausage gravy with a biscuit?? Makes no sense. If you can't make a sausage biscuit, how can you make biscuit and gravy. We also ordered ice cream which was good. But I was told by my server and someone else from the kitchen that they couldn't make the Reese's shake into a sundae for me. One would think it would be as simple as putting the shake toppings on top of a scoop of ice cream?? Clearly they had all the ingredients, but refused to make it for me. Very strange.Another thing I noticed. A lot of the google reviews here suggest that the card reader has been down for quite some time. We were told we could pay by cashapp and when she made the transaction I noticed that I was depositing my payment to a personal cashapp account that belonged to our waitress and not a business account. I found the whole experience rather odd.My husband believes that the inability to make the sausage biscuit and sundae were more of an IQ issue among the workers and not so much the inability to do it or lack of ingredients. This is probably the meanest review I have left a business but I am very upset with the experience as I have literally looked forward to trying this restaurant for years. Also spent nearly $150 on this meal, so very disappointed. The restaurant is so cool and beautifully decorated. It has the potential to be amazing and probably once was.

Worst place ever. Made food without gloves. Oh and the best part of all the ice cream was suppose to be good home made ice cream right. Guess what the ice cream is Kroger ice cream aka blue ribbon. And tell that ladie Alissa she needs new pants they weee ripped.

I was excited to try this place but I was absolutely let down. We waited forever to even be waited on. Then when we got Our shake and Root beer float we had to wait forever . We kept hearing the manager say they were busy they were not busy like that!! Our milk shake was a mess it was running all down the cup and on top we had to wait another 15 min for Our Root beer float. I won't be back

Quirky and fun place to visit. I took my wife here for a valentines day breakfast. Overall really fun experience. I've heard mixed things about the food. The eggs scrambler was amazing.Dietary restrictions: Some items are gluten free you have to ask.Parking: parking is right along side the diner

Very dirty on the inside. The smell between the two rooms was horrible. Our table was so loose , we had to hold it up white eating.

The last two times we've been there they are out of a lot of stuff, this last visit they were out of soda, milk, all they had to drink was water and coffee.

Got 2 milkshakes here recently, the portions are huge and the flavors were great but a little pricey in the end. Can't afford to stop by much but it'll definitely be a treat when we do.
