A Blazing Disappointment – Never Again!

If I could give Firehouse Subs zero stars, I would. My wife and I have given this place two chances—both times, we left feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome. That’s not just bad service; that’s a pattern.

From the moment we walked in, we felt like we were intruding rather than being valued customers. The employees acted indifferent at best and borderline rude at worst. No greeting, no acknowledgment—just blank stares like we were inconveniencing them by existing.

Then there's the food. Overpriced, underwhelming, and definitely not worth putting up with the terrible service. They claim their subs are premium, but they taste like something thrown together with zero care. The bread was stale, the meat was lukewarm, and the overall presentation was just sad.

To top it all off, the atmosphere was uninviting. Other customers seemed to get normal service, but for some reason, we got the cold shoulder both times. Coincidence? I doubt it.

There are plenty of other sandwich shops that actually appreciate their customers. Firehouse Subs is not one of them. Safe to say, we won’t be back.

Just seems to be an over expensive blah place. $15 for an 8" small bag of chips and medium drink. I asked how much extra meat was on the 8" - it is $8 for extra meat. Might as well buy a 2nd sandwich, keep the meat and throw the bun away. I know the premise of Firehouse, but WAAAAY over priced for an ok sandwich and hot sauce bar.

I don't know if the food is good or not because I couldn't get that far. When I walked in the guy asked if I had an order in or if I was placing an order and I told him I was placing an order. He then informed me that it would be a while because he had online orders to filll and he was the only one there. There was a guy standing outside when I came in, he was smoking and had a backpack on. There were two women waiting to place an order. The outside came in and went behind the counter with the backpack on and started punching in on the register. He proceeded to take one of the ladies order. I said he didn't wash his hands so I will not be ordering. She and the other lady decided not to order also. A man came in and got the same greeting of how busy he was and if he had an order in, when informed it would be a while he left
When myself and the other ladies were outside we were discussing the attitude of the guy making the sandwiches, they said he had something smart to say and that's why they decided not to order. I told them I didn't like the guy coming in and not washing his hands because I won't be getting sick by nasty food workers. He then came out to the door, held it open and proceeded to tell us he wasn't going to make the sandwich and I informed him it didn't matter because he still should have washed his hands and he told us there were other restaurants we could go to and we told him that is why we left! DUH! NEVER GOING BACK!

I order an Italians Sub from DoorDash for firehouse sub and they wrote a little note on the receipt they didn’t have lettuce or tomatoes. I didn’t know until the dasher dropped it off. I did get a call or anything asking if I wanted to replace it or money back. I spent near $25 on the total off the order. They or DoorDash didn’t give me my money back. Just be careful ordering from DoorDash. Just go Subway or Penn Station never had a problem with them.

i dont know what it is about this sandwich but it tastes like it has been in a cardboard box for days AND there was no mayonnaise. photos attached of my struggle to add mayonnaise to my sandwich because there was almost none left in my jar.

Can't rate on the atmosphere since this was a catered order. However, this was my first experience with Firehouse. The sandwiches were like every other place I have had...nothing spectacular, but good. However they only sent mayo as a condiment. The tea was supposed to be sweet tea...it wasn't. Plus, it was supposed to be one tea and one lemonade...both unsweetened teas. I was looking forward to a cookie but found them to be very hard! I ended up dipping mine into my coffee. We also only got two types of cookies...oatmeal raisin and some sprinkle cookies...both were disappointing. I may try them again on my own. But for catering....NO!

Having spent over a decade in the restaurant industry, this is not something I do, but hands down the worst experience I've ever had. I used to love their subs but after my last visit, I will not be returning. I ordered ahead online and when I went to pick it up, they weren't busy, but the drink station was trashed and out of tea. Get home and my order is very wrong, and the sub isn't even toasted. I reach out online, a "manager" text me to try and remedy the problem (but never gave their name so I should have known something was up) and said "Just text me whenever you want a re-do and it's on us free of charge" ok nice. About 3weeks later when I'm ready to take them up on it, I text back and literally have not heard back in a month. So I'm out $16, still had to go back out for dinner that evening, and then got the run around and ghosted like this was bad Tinder date. This location has gone down the drain.

I went there a few days ago and the food was great but the guy making to food kept staring at us kind weird idk if he was just having a bad day or what but it made my mom uncomfortable. I don't except a smile but his demeanor felt hostile. Great food tho and the subs came out in a reasonable time

They were offering veterans free small combo for Veterans Day. It was listed online, and with a sign on the store door. I went in shortly after 3 PM to be told that that special ended at 3 PM. The worker called the manager who told the worker to not honor the special after three. Yet the sign still on the door. Numerous veterans were turned away. Firehouses itself on being there for first responders. This is a very poor way to treat the veterans. I encourage all veterans and people who support veterans to boycott firehouse. I am curious if they will actually respond to this review.

Food quality was terrible, never thought I’d say that subway is way better. Most soda flavors were out, no straws. Not worth even half the money I spent.

This is the most poorly ran FH subs I've ever been to. The location in Charleston is outstanding. It's clear the management at this location have zero passion or even respect for the business. The staff are never friendly, especially this one female with glasses. The food is warm sometimes, never hot. The soda machine might as well be broken. They never have half of the selections available and the ones that are available never have syrup and are flat. It's a shame they are ruining this franchises name.

Kid-friendliness: They have high chairs for children
