Guesthouse's all to offer is everything! The restaurant, in particular, was delicious: the ambiance, the cocktails, the apps and dinner, and the service. This place is one of our favorites when we visit the area. A gem in the woods, for sure!

While searching for a place to dine on a Saturday in the Winchester area, VA, The Guesthouse Lost River came up as a recommendation. It took us an hour+ to get to this unforgettably beautiful, clean, friendly hotel and restaurant in the mountains of WV. We walked into a stunning bar with a warm fireplace and excellent cocktail selection (we suggest you make dinner reservations and arrive early for a leisurely tour and a cocktail: I discovered Hawk Knob dry cider - try it to fall in love, dear reader). And then get ready for a delicious dinner, with unique menu (my husband chose Pork osso buco, which was outstanding, while I enjoyed mushroom lasagna, equally tasty) And the hors d'oeuvre should not be ignored - we ordered kielbasa, duck wontons and mushroom bisque. The wine selection, desserts, attentive service and the atmosphere with piano playing are great. We regret not staying at the guesthouse after dinner. However, we will correct it - we shall be back. Amazing experience!

Wonderful meal in spectacular surroundings. We chose to dine at a table in the bar area for the ambiance. Cocktails were superb and so was the meal. My meatloaf was amazing. We will be back.

I have never stayed at the Guesthouse, but I have eaten there countless times and every single time has been amazing. Gary and Jesse have built an amazing spot for a date, a family gathering, or just about any other special occasion. The menu routinely changes while keeping a few fan favorites (the duck wontons are the best) and from the food to the beer and wine, they source their ingredients as locally as possible. I can't recommend The Guesthouse enough for a good meal. It is the best food in Hardy County.

The food and cocktails are amazing and I've had most dinners and appetizers. You are greeted with a smile everywhere you turn. If you look beyond the smiles, you'll see some of the most beautiful architecture, decor, and art. I would eat here every day if I could. I've been to fun events like trivia night and a drag show and had a blast. In the summer, you can swim in the pool and order food and drinks. The Guesthouse is a MUST do! Please go treat yourself to a yummy, fun and relaxing time. If you sit at the bar, you'll make new friends.

My husband and I loved our stay and had a fabulous experience. I cannot not recommend this place enough. The owners and staff are very friendly, welcoming, and professional. Upon arrival, one of the owners gave us a tour. Everything is pristine. This is the perfect place for a getaway in the mountains. We hope to be back one day soon!

Guest House – Absolutely Fantastic!
Guest House is an absolute gem! The steaks are perfectly cooked and full of flavor, and the cocktails are top-notch — you can tell the bartenders take real pride in their craft. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with stunning views that make the whole experience even better. Whether you’re here for dinner, drinks, or staying overnight in one of their beautiful rooms, everything is first-class. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a relaxing, delicious, and memorable getaway!

Weird interaction with a tall boy working there. He kept staring and made me and my family uncomfortable. Food was great though! Might do to-go text time.
