We were able to try some of their offering while at the Appalachian Mercantile General Store & Cafe in Granville,WV. Wonderful Vegan bakery options. The staff at the Appalachian Mercantile General Store & Cafe was friendly and accommodating in relation to vegan options. They correct in telling us that the Venerable Bean bakery has some great options. I can’t wait to try some more, thank you.

I grew up in Morgantown, vegan since I was a kid, there was literally nowhere to get vegan food except maybe the Chinese restaurant downtown. Venerable Bean delivers my vegan childhood dreams in the form of cakes and cookies and pepperoni rolls (I live in Texas now and we call them kolaches, but whatever they are, you can get vegan ones). If only I could go back in time and tell teenage me that someday there would be vegan treats in the middle of town. If I had one complaint it’s that I’m spoiled by beautiful and colorful vegan baked treats from other bakeries I’ve been to, and VB treats are more… domestic looking, homemade, but that doesn’t detract from the flavor one bit. Maybe just not something you’d get for an office party or a kid’s birthday.

Ordered a three layered cake from them and it was tasty! Was kind of small and they couldn't decorate it but all in all still a wonderful cake and fast responses through email.

Maybe I hyped it up in my head... and via their Instagram acct. most of the items I got were meeehhhh. Which I expected for a vegan bakery. HOWEVER- the peanut butter tarte and the oatmeal cream pie were amazing!! If I was rating just that it would be a 5/5. However I am rating overall and many of the other baked goods I tried (a cookie icing sandwich, peanut butter cookie and the lavender cake) were dry and crumbly. Less flavorful as well.

Sorry I can NOT recommend this place... the “pizza rolls” are pepperoni inside of bread. No sauce, no cheese. It was like a 3rd grader made dinner. The golden pita was tiny, the bbq tempeh sandwich was skimpy... oddest experience ever. We go out of our way to find vegan restaurants when we travel but this one should be skipped. Such a bummer.

LOVED THE BAKED GOODS! I'm a vegan visiting from Miami, FL and I loved every treat I bought! I got the cinnamon pecan roll, oatmeal cream pie, the lavender cake (my favorite of the bunch, the lavender wasn't overwhelmingly powerful; nice balance w the frosting,) and some kind of ginger cookie... don't remember the exact flavor. If I'm ever near Morgantown again, I'm deffffinitely stopping by to stock up on some delicious vegan goodies
