Wonderful dinner of chicken and dumplings, along with brown beans and cornbread. The women who work here are the absolute sweetest!

Good food after a long hike in the national park. I had a chopped steak burger and mashed potatoes, fried pickle chips, yum. The sweet tea is cold and sweet. There's a nice lady running the whole show all by herself, it seems. Excellent service.

Had driven by many times but decided to stop. Worth it. Absolutely delicious. Had the Philly steak omelette with hash browns and an English muffin. So good!
Went in for pickup. Ordered 3 cabbage roll meals for New Years. It was the absolute best you could get. Cabbage rolls were cooked perfectly and hefty with rich sauce over them. The mashed potatoes were homemade and filling. The coleslaw was like something my grandma would’ve made for me if I were to visit. And the cornbread was similar to Jiffy but I eat that regularly and prefer it. The diner was very homestyle like, and if you’re looking for somewhere to cool down; I’d recommend. Will absolutely be back! 5 out of 5 stars it did not disappoint in the least!

First time stopping in here. I ordered food to go. I specifically asked about getting the chili cheese fries and when I got home, there was nothing on the fries at all. I paid for the chili cheese fries. I also asked for Honey Mustard and there was none in the bag either. The waitress was not the friendliest but I think she was working by herself. The fries we got were barely cooked. I was just disappointed in what we got considering what we paid. The restaurant didn't appear very clean. I won't be going back.

Amazing homemade food. The biscuits are AMAZING! Got the cowboy omelet and the country fried steak and eggs and the biscuits and gravy. Ten out of ten!

After doing some long hikes at New River, my friend and I decided to stop by Heart of Gold Diner for some lunch. It's located in a small town and we were pleasantly surprised on the food! The Food: I had the "Double Mushroom Swiss Bacon Burger" and side of "Chili Cheese Fries". The burger itself was delicious! The burger patty was cooked to my liking and was juicy. The toppings were fresh and the mushroom swiss added the nice touch to the burger. The Chili Cheese Fries were just average though. Just regular fries with some chili and cheese topped over. I wouldn't get it again. The Service: Service was great! The staff were very friendly and welcoming when we arrived. And, our food got out to us in a timely manner! The Atmosphere: The restaurant was as expected. Spacious and had a timeless feel to the place. Definitely fit the old small town diner aesthetic. There's also plenty of seating available and parking is available on the side or on the street.Overall, a 5/5! For a small town, this local diner hit the spot for a quick lunch. The food was good and the service as great! If i visit New River again, I'll make a stop again for sure.

Having read the reviews and the high rating, we decided to stop here on our way to TN. I love chicken fried steak! However, the white gravy had the consistency and taste of paper maché paste. Except for a few lumps of flour that were in it. The steak itself wasn't bad. For sides I had (canned) green beans that was fine, and really delicious coleslaw. I love southern biscuits, but unfortunately this biscuit was thrown in the microwave to heat up, just as the steak and green beans were. Pre-cooked, then reheated. We like eating at diners as the food is normally cooked fresh and comes out fast. I was suspicious when our meal come out within 3 minutes of ordering it. Our waitress was friendly and attentive and definitely the highlight of the meal.
