Great rafting trip. I came to town to run a Spartan race and made a long weekend of it. Our guide Brody was great. He grew up on the river and has tons of knowledge of the area. Felt very safe having never rafted before. There were 2 opportunities to swim if you wanted to and even jump off a 25 foot rock. Lunch was great, make your own deli sandwiches, salads, chips and pudding for dessert. Super impressed they set up the peanut butter far away from the other foods to avoid contamination. My only complaint is the smoking. The other guests on my boat were allowed to smoke on the boat. Yes they asked my if I minded but I didn’t want to be put in the position to say yes and upset them. Everyone knew I was there to run a race, I’m a nationally ranked athlete and yet all smoked around me. Both the bus driver and guide on the other boat were smoking as well. Yes we were outside but that does not diminish the effects of second hand smoke. I know many people that would not be able to enjoy rafting because of allergies and asthma with the smoke. Please make the trips non smoking.

Very misleading cancellation policy. I paid for the extra cancellation coverage due to Covid and hurricane season. It’s an expected thunderstorm and I asked to reschedule since my cancellation policy says you can WITHIN 72 hours. They told me within doesn’t mean within and it should say prior to. They forced me to cancel or raft with thunder and lightning. We’ll be back to the beautiful new river gorge, but we will use a different service who can protect our safety.

We rafted today with Ian as our guide. Ciara was our guide in training. It was great! Our family consists of very adventurous to not at all adventurous and everyone had a great time. Ian did a great job keeping us safe, entertained and informed of what to expect next. The lunch was really good. We are already trying to figure out when we can make it back.

Checked their website to make sure they were open it said it was.And there and nothing the lights were out doors locked extremely disappointed.Oh I am sorry there was a small sign that read light breakfast

Probably the most fun we had on the water EVER! Drew was the best guide anyone could hope for, he kept everything exciting and safe! The whole crew at River Expeditions were fun, friendly and made sure everyone had a blast. Spend the extra couple bucks on the video afterward, its worth it! Oh be sure to request Drew Bee Doo Bee Doo!

I bought tickets for my birthday online 2 months in advance. Drove 4 hours to get there and got a hotel for a night. When I get to their office the next day they were closed. They sold me tickets for a day they were not open. They refunded my money but made no effort to account for the fact that I spent 8 hours on the road and money on a hotel for the night. At the least I would have expected a discount on tickets for next year. They really screwed me over, I would not recommend using them.

5 of our family (mom and dad in late 40’s, 19,16,14) of 6 made our way from Chicago to West Virginia to visit our daughter at WVU for parents weekend. River rafting made more sense to our family even though it was still a bit of a drive from WVU. What a great decision. Our cabin was just what we needed, our guide Ian did a great job working our 5 members work seamlessly with the rest of our boat. He allowed us to set the level of adventure we were looking for (lots). River lunch was a decent spread of lunch food. Our evening viewing of the video with all the rafters and crew in Red Dog Saloon was a great way to end our day. Had we known we would have had as great of a time, we would have had all 6 of our family and booked for 2 days. We will be back for sure next season for at least 2 days of rafting.

Overall fantastic experience!!!!! We rafted the lower river on Saturday 9/11. Rafting guide was very knowledgeable. Carla did an excellent job at managing the rafting group and making it fun! We stayed in the rustic cabins. The cabins were very nice! Walk to the bathroom was no bad at all. Jason in the welcome center is fantastic at explaining everything and has excellent customer service skills. Lewis the bus driver has mad skills and was also fantastic. I highly recommend river expedition for a fun and safe trip. We will definitely be back next year!

Our group rafted the lower river on 8/22 and we had 2 boats... our guides were Johnny and Hunter. I was on the boat guided by Johnny, and he did a great job of setting us up for great rapids. The trip was really a fabulous experience and the whole operation is top notch.
