Las Trancas Mexican Cantina

This is starting to become one of my favorite places!! Since I'm eating smaller, my fiancee and I get the fajitas for 2 and get a mix of chicken and beef! Perfect for us! It's definitely a must when sampling the cuisine the Southside has to offer!

I love everything about this place. It starts with the lovely building with the beautiful front door. Inside the ambiance is lovely, lovely furniture and decorations. Mexican music is playing at just the right sound level. The staff are always friendly and the prices more than fair. Everything is always so clean even the bathrooms. The food is plentiful and delicious every time. My test for a Mexican restaurant is usually Carnitas. Most places make them dry. Every time I have ordered them here they have been delicious moist and juicy!! Absolutely our favorite Mexican restaurant in the area.

My wife and I have eaten here several times for lunch and the food has been good. I decided to take my entire family out for dinner and chose los Trancas . From the time we ordered to the food arriving took only a few minutes I assume the stuff was precooked no way it was prepared fresh in such a short time. Very disappointed in the food we was served I ordered a tee bone steak and shrimp the steak was the poorest cut of meat I ever saw full of gristle and the shrimp was cold and tasteless. The fish tacos my daughter ordered were just tortillas with a deep fried piece of fish no fixings . For the price of the meal I won’t take my family back there again.

We have several Mexican restaurants to choose from in our area. It’s kind of the running joke when a new place starts getting built, will it be a New Mexican restaurant or a new car wash lol. Anyway of all the ones here in Parkersburg this one is my favorite. We ate here tonight and our server was greeted us quickly, I’m a little picky with my tea and always get it “half-cut”, it was perfect. I always look forward to the chips and salsa which came out promptly after being seated. I ordered the pollo loco because it seems somewhat healthy, it was a big portion and tasted great. My husband ordered the fish tacos and while they weren’t visually appealing he said they did taste good and all the components were there for it to be a good dish. The chipotle sauce was really good! Of course we will be back.
