“The food was fantastic but we had to wait a long time. It was 8:45, and we called ahead to make sure we could still get food. They said yes. But the cook ignored our order and wouldn't make it. We could hear him complaining. Our server, however, jumped in and cooked our food. She made our food and waited on us. She was friendly and apologized many times. But over all our server saved the day and the food was fantastic. Highly recommend the crabby fries!! Very good“

“I went to watch a few bands play, it was my first time going here. It was great! The owner was very friendly and went around and spoke to almost everyone it seemed. “I love this bar! It's Allegany County's oldest bar in continuous operation. Talk about walking into a time capsule. The bar is made out of a continuous piece on Honduran mahogany from the 40's believe. The walls are covered with vintage beer signs, old pictures and antique coal mining pieces. Sam, the bartender, is great. He opens at 7pm Mon-Sat and stays open as long as there are customers.Cash only. “Came here for lunch with a large group of friends during a weekend getaway in the Salem area. What a great place! Betsy, the bartender-slash-host-slash-chef greeted us cheerfully and made our stay at the Hideaway a true pleasure from start to finish. The atmosphere is down-to-earth and comfortable, the beer selection is great with a number of local options, and the food is excellent. Will definitely return if I'm ever in the area again.“
