Since moving from San Diego California to Charles Town in early 2000s I always missed the abundant access to local fresh Mexican food; near impossible to find the same un-Americanized style in the Jefferson County area. When I stumbled across Ortega’s and then finding out the Ortega family was from my old stomping grounds, I felt like I struck gold. Being a local boutique pepper grower I was able to share peppers with Ortega’s from Jalapeños to Chocolate Habaneros. I’m a burrito lover and will ask to change up the carne asada burrito by removing most of the rice and beans and adding more carne to closer match the Taco/Burrito shops in San Diego of straight carne. The also make one of my fav if you lucky enough to find packaged in the counter fridge “escabeche” Mexican Pickled Jalapeño and Carrots (Jalapeño y zanahorias en escabeche). Ortega’s to truly a gem of Charles Town so please stop in and give them a try, I wish the Ortega’s team many more years of success!

The food tastes great friendly staff.

Service was good and quick. Food was a bit bland for my taste. Guac was good but main course reminded me of cafeteria food.

Great Mexican tacos. One of the best places I've eaten Mexican food. The people there are great and the food delicious. The prices very reasonable. I recommend this place.

Got a bowl to go, can see the bottom of the container there is so little food in it. Chicken was chewy and cold, fish taco was sloppy and mid, green salsa was good at least.

They called and said they were training people and that the one star review hurts them. I understand training days, but quality control is a part of training. Appreciate the call and offer to make a new one, but we were already home and not driving out for a second round of what we got.

I LOVE the street tacos! Simple yet flavorful. The quesadillas and burritos are delicious too! I have never been disappointed when we get Ortega's!

Great shrimp tacos.

The street tacos had no seasoning, absolutely zero flavor. On top of that they put like a spoonful of meat in the tortillas, I've eaten at plenty of Mexican restaurants this is by far the worst!! Never again 😒

Food is always good when we go here. I recommend the carne asada street tacos and nachos. The atmosphere is nice and feels like a local hometown joint. We will for sure be coming back again!

Good food good service

Always the best when coming to Ortega’s, I’ve been going here for 5+ years, even back when they were at the old place near the DQ. The Staff never disappoints and even if it’s busy they’ll make it worth the wait. They’ve never gotten my order wrong and hopefully if they did they’ll probably make it right but they are always on top of there game when it comes to the older staff that’s been working there for awhile. Enough of the rant/review! GO TRY IT, IF ITS YOUR FIRST TIME OR NOT!! VAMOS

Pretty great spot - portions & price. The quesadilla will give you 4 'sandwiches' that will be on par with taco bell for the quantity/price. Ofc beyond the quality 👌 Tasty. Chill lobby. Only thing i would add is a big OPEN/CLOSED sign that people can see driving by.

Ive seen one other taco truck around Charles town cost me 13 dollars for 3 little tacos 😒 in the Nova metro you're expected to drop 30 bucks to get filled up & avoid fast food. That's what i get moving here for work. Sticking with Ortega's
