New to the region and had been craving Chinese food for a while.

Finally got managed to get to this place and discovered that they are either still doing COVID safety measures of being take-out only -or they have returned to that process recently. So, despite the heat outside, nobody will be stepping inside to wait for their order if they decide to stop in and order at the door. I could absolutely see some of the locals losing their ---- if they had to deal with that.

I'm not gonna blame them for continuing the procedure of nobody in the building. A few locals have been terrible to local businesses with such acts as doing drugs in the public bathrooms, etc. Ya'll lucky any of these places including the Walmart haven't decided to run on a strictly web order and pick up means of business with some of the antics I hear some people out here be up to.

I am confused why this place uses the word Buffet in their name when they are only take-out. The only scenarios I can assume is that they were once a buffet but then adapted due to COVID or the locals just didn't frequent enough and thus made the buffet experience financially unviable. Have to keep in mind that prepared foods are only safe for 4 hours, and thus a lot of food would be chucked to the dumpsters every 4 hours if nobody is eating let alone showing up to pay and counter the costs of that wasted food. Once people know a place by a name it could throw them off if one were to rename the business, even if the old name no longer makes full sense to the experience or service sold. As long as there is some connection of the name to the service, best to leave it alone.

The food I ordered from China Buffet was overall good. I always start off by ordering chicken and broccoli when ordering at Chinese restaurants that are new to me. It lets me know if they cook things thoroughly, ingredient quality, proper storage (cross contamination risks with meats next to veggies), etc. The food did not get me sick. Chicken tasted good and had no stringy or crunchy bits.

They offer crab rangoon on their menu which is something not all Chinese restaurants offer. Unsure if that was what I actually received though or if they gave me cheese wontons. I was so hungry I kinda need to have them again to discern if they are even putting the imitation crab in them. The rangoons were very crispy. They were slightly small (compared to other rangoons I have experienced from other Chinese restaurants) -but there were a fair number of them. I think there were 10 in the pack, possibly 12. I lost count. I ate them all. Again, they were crispy, but the filling was moist. Needed a drink with how crispy the outer was.

When I ordered they were fairly quick on the cooking. I was offered fortune cookies, cutlery, sauces, etc upon pick up. Pretty standard experience actually.

Plan to order again in the future.

Please keep in mind that restaurants can fluctuate in quality between the days depending on several factors between the staff and the availability of ingredients, etc.

I used to frequent a place in my home state (since I was a wee lad) and they had a few years here and there were they went off track in their quality and bounced back, and a few where it was merely dependant on who was cooking that day. I find that it can happen to any "mom and pop" style eatery.

BTW, for some reason parking is an aspect brought up on here for some reason. There is a lot of parking, but the parking lot for the strip that they are located is in dire need of being redone. You can just barely see the lines for the parking spots. The stripmall has some covering to protect from weather and sun on the main walkway that connects the stores, but the places in the area do visually appear to need some TLC as it is clear whoever owns the strip and lot really have not been maintaining the grounds.

Meh. Updating my review as they don't seem to ever be reopening as a buffet restaurant since COVID. Prices have gone up and flavor has gone down, sadly.

Although it is solely carry out now I still love this place as I always have. Contrary to other reviews I think the food is delicious. Their lunch portions are priced fairly for the prices in this day and time, and as for the price for family sized portions you’re not going to go anywhere and eat for less. The service is always great and they are always kind.

For some reason this restaurant doesn't allow guest to come in..why I have no idea however the service and food is pretty darn good. Prices are about what you would expect at any carryout.

Are you ever going to open your buffet again? Ate in Beckley and Chinese restaurants there have buffets. Really sucks that you haven't ? ?

Well there is no atmosphere because it is all take out food now. The price for Chinese food has risen so drastically I won't be buying much this year, but this is in alignment with everything that has risen in cost. We got several stimulus packages for a few months and I guess now we have years of inflation because of our stimulus checks we got and COVID surcharges. The bad thing is we didn't accomplish much at all with all the money invested in COVID. We're still seeing the mutating virus and still see that none of the vaccines were able to keep out the virus. Although we did spend 20 years in the war spending away and we didn't see this rise?
