I have been there on an off the past 10 years. It's been "hit or miss" depending on the chef who is on that night. The prices are high considering the amount of food you get. I have had better Thai food elsewhere.

The quality has NEVER wavered. Hands down the best Thai in the Panhandle(Except Sumatra, which is owned by the same owners as Kazu). Kazu has moved the sushi bar to the back because they've applied for a liquor license which means they'll have a bar upfront. The shrimp pad thai still ranks in the Top 5 here. Better than thai I've had in DC. NY and Miami.

Love it! The gyoza (pork dumplings or pot stickers) are wonderful! Usually they are served with plain soy sauce, which is too salty for me, but their is more complicated and addictive. I get the pad Thai and my wife the pad see ew and it always ranges merely great to heavenly. That slight inconsistency should probably lose them a star, but we always come back because we love it.

I always enjoy bringing my friends to this place to experience the awesome food.

My husband and I went to Kazu the other evening and really enjoyed ourselves. We have gone a couple of times and always had a pleasant experience. We went with another couple and decided to try a couple of the appetizers on the "specials" menu, and they all were delicious. I chose to get the crispy shrimp for my meal, which were great. My husband got the crispy duck with basil and that was yummy as well. The prices here are a little high but our waitress was nice and very attentive. We look forward to our next visit!

I ate here with some good friends. Several had food restrictions. The waitress was kind and patient and helped us choose the best things from the menu. I would highly recommend the restraunt!

Really delicious Thai dishes as well as Japanese dishes, and decent prices. Staff was so awesome, I left my cell phone there and they kept it for me until I could come get it the next day. They even charged it for me! I was so taken by this thoughtfulness. A beautiful business of kind people that should be supported!

I really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. The service was great as was the food. I'll definitely come back if I'm in the area again.

We have been eating at Kazu for well over 10 years. It has always been one of our favorite places to dine in and get take out. My husband and I would get take out from here at least once a month and always get the same thing. We decided to get take out tonight as a nice treat and it was a terrible mistake. The vegetable spring rolls tasted like they had meat in them, but we didn't see any. They were mushy and not tasty. My miso soup was inedible. It tasted foul, the seaweed was very, very slimy, and the soup had no seasoning. I had to throw it away after a few bites. My sushi was awful. I have had grocery store sushi that was 10 times better then this. The rice was over cooked, unseasoned and mushy. The avacado was brown and sad. I am pretty sure an ingredient was missing from our crabby top roll, they were bland and the "crunchy" bits on top were stale and extremely hard. It was a very disappointing meal and I feel like what I am writing is not doing it justice on how awful it was. I feel so let down from one of my favorite restaurants. 😞

Kazu used to be a staple in Shepherdstown. Was a great place to get high quality sushi. The sushi we got today was subpar to say the least. The portions are smaller, the crabby top roll was beyond disappointing. Whatever the crumbly pieces on top are were hard as a rock, there was hardly any crab on top of the roll and none inside. The miso soup was off, it just tasted wierd compared to miso at any other sushi restaurant. The new spring rolls are smaller (the order comes with several tiny rolls instead of 2 standard size rolls), and they don't taste as good as they used to. Now the soy sauce in the to go orders comes in packets vs the plastic cups previously provided. Less pickled ginger was included as well. The avacado in our avacado roll was browner than should be acceptable. It just seems to me they must be trying to cut food cost as much as possible and the food quality has suffered significantly. It's truely sad to see a town favorite go this way.

Kazu has fallen. If you go there for the homemade handcrafted spring rolls, be prepared for some frozen garbage that looks like taquitos and tase like deep fried mush. The Pad Thai, which was always my go to, has lost its unique flavor and, although it costs the same, the portion size has significantly decreased. The new owners have botched the incredible authentic tasting dishes and replaced them with typical mall/airport food court overpriced crap. The reason I left two stars is because the gyoza are still perfect and homemade, but I fear they too will turn into frozen, prepackaged, and bland. This is so disappointing as there are not that many good restaurants in town as it is. Hopefully these are just new owner rookie mistakes and they will find their stride once again.

If you haven't been in since the new owners changed the menu, be prepared for change. We have loved Kazu for years, but their unique recipes have now changed. I'm the type of person that always gets the same thing when I go to a restaurant, and at Kazu my go-to was always the yellow curry. For my husband, either the drunken noodles or crispy shrimp. So we ordered, and when my food arrived I noticed the portion sizes are quite a bit smaller. I love a huge portion, but it used to be a vat of curry, and the new size is still a generous amount. But, the taste has changed completely. It was far too sweet (almost like brown sugar) and just very different than what I've always loved. Will not be ordering again. My husband got the crispy shrimp, and that was the most drastic change. They no longer take the tails off of the shrimp, which is a pain considering the shrimp are so sticky and they don't provide a knife. The flavor has also changed drastically. Someone else at our table had the panang curry, and I think I'll get that next time. Guess hubby will try the drunken noodles. Not impressed with this visit, but will try one more time to see if we can find something that will keep us coming back. Two other honorable mentions - they no longer serve any alcohol (I imagine this is temporary, but our server didn't provide a solid answer), and no. more. crab balls. Sincerely hope the old owner is enjoying retirement. His dedication over the years was truly appreciated. Some of my favorite restaurant food in the area.

My favorite restaurant in Shepherdstown! Love their homemade yellow curry, it is delicious.

Food was pretty okay but now there are new owners aaaaannnd they've decided to undo what was good. The new spring rolls are frozen Sysco type food and very much not tasty like the fresh shredded cabbage ones previously made. Disappointed to the max. I had thought the new owners would raise the game and make it better but it's basically frozen food or something.
