I ordered a smash burger, it was so greasy I had to eat it with a knife and fork. No seasoning at all, 2 bites in I was done. Fries were good though. Husband got the regular burger and said his was good. Maybe next time I'll try a regular burger.

They were busy and understaffed when we arrived, so I’d give them another chance if I were traveling through. The burger was really something-juicy and good quality beef. Bacon on there too. Brussels sprouts were pretty crispy and had a delicious balsamic flavor incorporated in. I liked the food a lot!

I came by here over the weekends and ordered a smash burger and my wife ordered a crab cake sandwich. Both were mouth watering and delicious. Perfectly crafted. My compliments went to the chef. This place is very friendly and bright with good energy. A hidden gem of a restaurant in shepherdstown. It was slightly difficult to find but i was told “that’s what makes the food worth it” and it was.

Great service and excellent food. We went for a rehearsal dinner and the staff did an amazing job. I will say it was difficult to find the entrance but i submitted info to google so hopefully they will fix it.

We got 2 pounds of wings which turned out to be only 12 wings. $22 for 12 wings. Save your money and your time and don’t come here. Alcohol specials weren’t bad though.

Food was horrible, staff was close behind in quality, parking is only for those that have a good ability of walking. Never go here go support business that cares about feeding you and not just their pockets

I was super excited to eat here again first time was right when they opened, seeing FB post saying their “Chef” is cooking up specials and great food. Well that’s not the case. The food is not at all what it originally was when the reopened the doors. It’s obvious not the same person or same care that was there when we first went. I’m pretty sure they hired a McDonalds worker to run the show in the back and it shows when the food is brought out. Very disappointing, the crab cakes taste like burnt hush puppies from long John silvers the day before their oil gets changed. Fries are cold and old and seemed to have been cooked four times before making it to a plate. Speaking of plates….EVERY SINGLE DISH had old food stuck to it on the bottom, maybe tell your dish guy or girl plates have two sides to them. Zero accountability in the kitchen and zero care from wait staff will create this horrible mess of a business. My main suggestion is to go back to what people wanted and craved and raved about when you first brought back “Rumsey Tavern”. Do better and try to find a actual leader that knows what needs to happen or change to make this place what it possibly could be with the proper staff and knowledge behind what it takes to actually please people.

We visited on a Friday evening after 6:30. Entering in we see several tables empty but most still not cleaned from last diners. No one greeted us, our first visit and it was unclear if we seat ourselves or wait to be seated. Not one person on staff made eye contact as they passed by. They were all busy so obviously very understaffed. We finally stopped the bar tender and asked, was told seat ourselves. We waited 25 minutes and not one person came to our table, we were never given a menu, a glass of water. Only one wait staff person said he'd be with us shortly. We decided sitting for 25 minutes was too long and we were irritated so we left and went into town to another restaurant. We were so disappointed because we had been looking forward to visiting since they opened. Now in all fairness I know and do understand that most restaurants have been operating with a short staff since 2020. Still, 25 minutes is way too long. Might have been a lot better if a host/hostess had seated us and given us menus and a glass of water. In my opinion that was awful customer service and I'm pretty sure we won't go back.

I received a coupon in the mail for a free appetizer with an entree purchase. Camden our waitress was warm friendly ensured we read the fine print on the coupon to prevent any surprises later. She was a great server shared some of the history of the place answered all our questions very attentive.
The place was clean had a quiet atmosphere and good menu. We had the chicken nachos for the appetizer, that could have been a meal by itself, the cheese sauce seemed to be homemade. My wife ordered the Chesapeake chicken with baked potato and crispy brussels sprouts; I got the shrimp Po’boy and upgraded to onion rings. The chicken was a nice portion, and the Po’boy was a legit 12-inch sandwich. My wife only sampled a little of the chick and sprouts and I had two bites of the sandwich and some of the onion rings because we filled up on the nachos. I know it is in a converted hotel but worth the trip I consider it hidden reward and worth the trip, I live in Maryland and will going back for another meal.
