If you are looking for Southern hospitality and good food this ISN'T the place. Steer clear, they DON'T want your business and have better things to do beside being put out by customers. They started out great and the staff friendly, helpful and the food was amazing. Now they have the most horrible attitude and the food is just as poor now, rock bottom. I had one of the worst experiences in buying food in my 60 years. The clerk was so rude I can't understand why she is still working there. Everytime I've come in she AND THE REST OF THE CREW ARE SO RUDE. I thought if I leave a nice tip that my service would improve, I was wrong. The clerk was the older one with glasses. You could tell from the moment we pulled up that NO ONE wanted to wait on us. We were ignored on many occasions. That was the start and it just got worse. We placed our order, that was almost $30.00 with the tip. Cashed out and waited for 40 minutes. It was two hot dogs, frys and a sub. After 40 minutes we pulled back to the window and, as usual were ignored for another 5 minutes. Finally we got our food. Both frys were only half full and the other a quarter full. I asked about the frys not being full and was abruptly told this is the only size we have. Well, they could have at least filled them up for $3.00 each. The frys also weren't even done. We also didn't get the correct sandwiches. I went back and was given the cold shoulder once again. When she finally acknowledged me, she gave me a scowl and said I must have put it in the wrong bag. She accompanied me back to my car and we switched out. At NO time did I yell or cause a scene, eventhough most customers would have exploded. I didn't even get an I'm sorry. The sub was horrible, I've never heard of deep frying lettuce and tomato. It was a soggy, greasy mess. We gave it to the birds. They weren't even impressed.

Lunch at the Owl was great! The staff was so friendly and really accommodating. We had a fairly large group but they got our orders out quickly and checked on us often. There is indoor and outdoor seating. I got a ham & cheese with fries; the fries were delicious, but if you get the ham & cheese be sure to get other toppings too - they were offered, but I went basic and was left wanting a little more. I think the star of the show is their chicken - a member of my group shared a chicken strip with me and it was a totally 5-star piece of chicken! So good! If I'm ever back in War I'll definitely stop here again.
