Bizarre experience: we showed up, the diner was half-empty, and we were told that if we did not have reservations there was an hour wait. When I asked if we could be put on a waitlist we were promptly seated in one of the empty booths. Our server came over to the table and said that we could order drinks, but implied that we could not order food until the reservations showed up... So we ordered our drinks, and the waiter informed us that the kitchen was rapidly running out of food options (but it was okay because they weren't anything that we were going to order.) One couple with reservations came in and was seated in the booth next to us. The place was still about half full, yet everyone coming in without reservations was turned away. Our waiter got the reserved table their drinks then asked what they wanted to order for food. After that, he came to our table and took our order. We got the jalepeno poppers, chicken and the fisherman's pie. Other than no other reservations ever showing up and the place remaining about half-empty the entire time we were there, the service was pretty standard and the food was excellent. I probably wouldn't go back because I'm from out of town and will probably never go to Wheeling again.

A great local place for some of the most sophisticated comfort food you will find anywhere. Chef Matt creates his seasonal menus using locally sourced ingredients, and it shows in the quality of the food. Expect to find Appalachian inspired comfort foods with a modern twist. Every meal we've had here has been fantastic and I try to choose something new each time we go. I really need to make it a point to get there for brunch, I've heard it's out of this world.

My husband and I visited the Vagabond Kitchen prior to an event at WesBanco arena. Great area, easy to park and walk to both the restaurant and event venue. We happened to find them on a whim, called and easily reserved a table. Waited maybe 3 minutes when we arrived. The service was exceptional! Our waiter was so kind and took great care of us. I had the chicken pot pie which I LOVED, and my husband had the pork porterhouse which was perfectly seasoned and cooked well. I would highly recommend stopping by if in the area.Parking: We parked about a block away for $5 (covered the event parking, too). Not bad! Was super easy to get out and on our way home, as well.

One of my favorite local places. Food is delicious, staff is wonderful and fun, and the cocktails are so good. The "adult" mac and cheese is my favorite.

Great food, drink, and service right off the highway in the historic Wheeling downtown area. I’m more impressed every time I visit! Whether you’re just passing though or live right down the road, give Vagabond Kitchen a try and I think you’ll be happily impressed with everything they have for you. Start with the Corn Fritters; they’re amazing!Parking: Lots of safe, open street parking right out front with meters that are cheap during the day and free in the evening. You can get the app and pay from your phone before you even leave your car! So convenient!Wheelchair accessibility: Wide, well-maintained sidewalks and a level entrance make this place accessible for everyone.

We got filet mignon, with duck wings as a starter. The salad is also top-notch. Topped off with dessert and Vagabond swag (a mug and tee-shirt.) ABSOLUTELY going back. Next time, we'll try their burgers!
