Solid steak, wish it were local but it’s real tasty. Mashed potatoes are delicious but definitely not a heath food lol. Wine list was long and less extortionate than I expected but I wish it had a few more interesting choices from delicious regions (N. Rhone Syrah, Nebbiolo from mountainous parts of Italy, non-Rioja Spain, etc). I’d go back if I were at The Greenbrier again.

Service was hospitable, but the food quality was abysmal. My strip steak had no literally no and crust and flavor. A budget steak at longhorn would’ve been better than this. My girlfriend’s short rib was also extremely dry. This is unacceptable work for a 5 star resort.

We eat at Prime 44 every time we visit the Greenbrier & it never disappoints. The food and drinks are always phenomenal and the service is excellent! Everything we’ve ever ordered has been great! Great atmosphere and decor! We’ve even had the honor of meeting the Jerry West upon one of our visits! Always a great experience!

Not as good as Texas Roadhouse, which is 1/4 the price. A $17 side of "broccoli gratin with gruyere sauce" was frozen broccoli with cheddar on top and a soupy sauce that didnt taste like anything and first came out old. Had to send both $75 steaks back to be cooked appropriately and one was still not right. Lobster mash potatoes was good, albeit $32. Very dissapionting. Save your money and go somewhere else.

First of all, in my rating system, 3 out of 5 is better than average. That said, I had a mixed experience at Prime 44, which was mostly good. It’s a little like eating in a fancy sports bar, but the setting is appropriate. With the exception of the sommelier, the wait staff was very friendly and efficient. The food cooked as requested and there were plenty of things on the menu to suit robust tastes.
Back to the sommelier (which may be an over-statement), who engaged me after I was offered the wine list and had a few minutes to look it over. I don’t recall all the details of the conversation, but it didn’t end that well. I wanted a Napa Cabernet on the list, vintage 2018, but the he brought me a bottle with a 2020 or 21 vintage for the same price… big difference. When I brought it to his attention, he told me this was all they had, and that is where the experience went wrong for me. I got no apology for the inaccurate wine list, and when i told him it wouldn’t do, he made no attempt to suggest something else I might like, he just turned away and went on to another table. Nevertheless, I ended up ordering another Napa cab from my server, and enjoyed the rest of my evening.
I didn’t go to Prime 44 for the wine list (which is extensive), but for the overall dining experience. However a good wine with a good meal is important to me, so $400 later, (unfortunately I was dining alone) I’d say I was pretty insulted by the nonchalance of the sommelier. Since I have eaten at the restaurant once before (as a guest) it was my second chance to watch the sommelier (that’s a stretch of his title) in action, I would say that if you happen to dine at Prime 44, he probably won’t be remembered as the high point of your evening.

Ate here as part of our honeymoon. The food was excellent, atmosphere was wonderful. I had the filet mignon, my wife had the Colorado lamb chops. We split the Boursin Mashed Potatoes. One of the best steak I've had and the potatoes would delicious. For dessert I had the no bake cheesecake. Would definitely come back on a special occasion.

Came here for a family event. Called ahead to request a crib, well in advance, but no crib when I arrive. Breakfast was $22 for a plain waffle with some berries dumped over it. Our dinner at Prime 44 was the worst experience I have ever had. The food quality was severely lacking. Soup was unpleasant in flavor and mouthfeel. Salad too gross to try. My medium rare NY strip steak came internally raw. After a very difficult choice I politely asked them to cook a bit more as they saw itvwas raw, it came back still blue. It was not a flavorful cut nor was it of quality to eat rare or raw. ALL IN ALL, THIS PLACE IS A RIPOFF. Room amenities are non-existant. Mattresses uncomfortable. Food poor at best. Do not bother coming here,to stay or dine. It is trying to exude class, but there is nothing here that is unique, just extremely overpriced.

This is the legendary basketball player Jerry West's restaurant and the nicest place to dine at the Greenbrier. We all had a wonderful experience the night we visited here. The food, service, and atmosphere were great. What stuck out the most, though, was the waiting area in front of the ladies' room shown in this picture, which was like nothing we've ever seen! What an awesome overall experience.

First, the positive. My 20 oz. bone-in ribeye was beautiful and my wife's filet mignon was good. We got great service, and the coffee and sticky toffee pudding were great. Bread service, though, was so so, and I suppose we should have ordered more sides since nothing came on the entree plate but the meat. That's normal but the sides are 2-4 large servings and we didn't want to waste food. Our first bottle of Merlot was bad, but we swapped that out for a decent Cabernet. It was the luck of the draw, but we were seated in the back by the kitchen so the ambiance/atmosphere was a bit lacking. We live in DC and have had many 5-star restaurant meals. The cost is high, but the food and experience is fantastic. This was a 2-person $500 meal that was just so-so overall. A disappointment.

Worst meal I’ve had in years. Inedibly garlicky Caesar salad; appallingly salty lobster mashed potatoes. Lobster in the seafood platter was dreadfully overcooked. Eat elsewhere.

Wow, just wow! This restaurant is truly a museum dedicated to Jerry West. To see his Olympic gold medal, all of his NBA Championship rings, and even his diploma from East Bank High School, I was in heaven. We loved every part of our meal, from Cathy's Blue Ribbon cornbread, to our perfectly cooked steaks, and our bananas fosters for dessert, every moment was first class.Someone asked if it was better than the Wonder Bar in Clarksburg, WV, and I would say it is the same caliber of experience, but at a higher price point. However, we were at the Greenbrier Resort so food costs are at a premium. This experience was definitely worth the cost.
