We had pasta with tiger shrimp and crab. Quite good. We also had the lamb loin. Cooked perfectly. Deserts had were chocolate mousse and bread pudding. Sauce on bread pudding was Way too thin. Mousse was very good. Rolls tasted store bought. Didn't even eat them.

Olivia our server was amazing. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was beautiful. Smoked wings, calamari, harvest salad and ribeye were fantastic.

The restaurant and the ambiance is beautiful. The service was pretty good for one waitress to be on her own, she did an excellent job checking on us and making sure we were okay with our meals. The food was ok. I had the fried pork, sweet potatoes, German hot potato salad, Mac and cheese and crab cakes as an appetizer. I will be very honest... everything was bland. My mouth kept searching for flavors that just weren't there. I assume they are just easy on salt and seasonings, but something has to have some flavor. Overall it was decent and I would definitely go back to visit but maybe order something different when I go.

One year ago, we celebrated at the Varsity Club. It was fantastic from service to food. One year later, we convinced a large group of folks to join us for another dinner while in town. Long story short, the waitress arrived to take our drink orders 45 minutes after being seated. Drinks took one hour to arrive…food took another 1.5 hours. We were there for 3.5 hours and desperate to leave. This isn’t the wait staffs fault. They were severely understaffed—waitress and bartender were the same person. Very strange experience. Found out today there are new owners. I hold them responsible. Support your people! We will never return.

The Varsity Club has the elements to be a very good restaurant. This was probably our fifth visit. The location is in the charming town of White Sulphur Springs, near the famous resort. The atmosphere is edgy and modern. There was live bluegrass in the lobby. When it opened a couple years ago, the lighting was harsh, but it's now toned down... except for where we sat. We were seated near the kitchen, where a really bright light pierced the serenity of an otherwise nice place. The food, however, really missed the mark. The food has been good, not great, but this time was really disappointing. I had she crab soup. Although it wasn't. It was really cream of crab soup without sherry (I don't enjoy sherry, so not a negative, IMO). Overall, I enjoyed the taste, however it was barely warm, not hot. Shrimp and grits was my entree. This used to be very good at the Varsity Club, but not anymore. The current version is served with deep fried grits, it's not visually appealing, nor enjoyable to eat. The sauce sort of helps, but there was very little. We also had a side of brussels sprouts which weren't very good, either. The dessert menu sounded good, but we didn't chance it. There are much better options in town, and locally.

The food is delicious here, and the atmosphere is modern and hip. The servers are kind, but a little slow. But if you aren’t in a hurry it’s great. We got the Mango Spicy Margarita, Whiskey Smash, Burger and Brussels

My husband and I were in visiting family and decided to have dinner at the The Varisty Club. The resultant and The school house is very cool and has a nice atmosphere. The drink were good and the food was ok. To us it wasn’t worth the price, even more so for a small town. We both got the ribeye, my brother got a hamburger and my sister in law got the filet mignon. We shared the scallops to start and I had a Cesar salad. The scallops were amazing!!! The salad was ok. It was like they too a whole heart of romaine and chopped the bottom off and threw it on a plate and drizzled the dressing over it. Not nearly enough dressing. The steaks and burger are good and cooked well. The sides we got with our meals were average. The vegetables were a little undercooked. We order and extra side of the Mac and cheese were highly disappointed. It tasted like watered down Mac and cheese with barely a hint of cheese. Definitely not worth the $12. Our server was amazing and very attentive!Over all it was a pretty cool place. Growing up here and seeing the transformation was pretty interesting. I doubt we will be back but if we are maybe we’ll try the Roof Top!

This was surprisingly one of the beat filet dinners I have had. We eat out a lot mostly at mid to upper dining establishments (not Apple Bee or similar) We rolled into town for the Bunker tour at Greenbrier and stayed at the SchoolHouse hotel. (Which was also awesome). Decided to dine at the hotels restaurant, THE VARSITY CLUB, and loved ever bit of it. My husband had the SHE CRAB SOUP, The CHICKEN CEASAR SALAD, and a crafted cocktail. I had the soup of the day- a PUMPKIN w/ CHICKEN stew and the 8oz FILET MIGNON w/ ROASTED FINGERLING POTATOES and a glass of Pino Noir. Our server COREY was very attentive as well as informative on the history of the building. We will recommend this to our friends. (As well as a stay at the hotel).

Had a delicious dinner with friends. Service was terrific, and the food even better. It was a wonderful surprise to find this gem.
After a day of exploring the area and doing some hiking we decided to give The Varsity Club a try and we were glad we did. I expected it to be good, but it was great. Our server was friendly, attentive but not intrusive, and happy to answer our questions about the menu items. For cocktails, we ordered the very tasty Cool as a Cucumber made with Hendricks gin, cucumber, mint and lime flavors and their version of a Smoked Manhattan. The soup du jour was a roasted tomato-red pepper bisque. I can recommend it, if it is available, as it reminded me of my mother's stuffed peppers. For entrees we had Chicken Cordon Bleu and the Pork Chop Special. The pork chop meal came with a side that contained lactose and they were very flexible in accommodating a substitution. We enjoyed both of our entrees as they were beautifully prepared and delicious. Fortunately, I had the good sense to order the vanilla soufflé earlier in the meal which absolutely capped off a great dinner. If we are back in the area, we will definitely return.

We went to the School House for a birthday lunch with lady friends. The server happened to be the Director of Food and Beverage (he allowed the staff to attend an event). He was most jovial, informative and accommodating. He was informative about the dishes served and offered great suggestions. It was cold where we sat, so he turned the temp up higher and accommodated our friend with a wrap as well. We couldn't have had a better time!
We arrived today for a wedding (at the hotel) to find out that the rooms are not equipped with irons and iron boards. While the tech in rooms is very impressive, it appears that the basics are missing. I am now on a waiting list for an iron. How is this possible?!
Fabulous meal at the Varsity Club last night!
My relatives hosted a birthday dinner for me at The Schoolhouse Hotel recently. The food was exquisite, some of the best I’ve ever eaten! Catering Director Marsha Fernandez, the receptionists, the wait staff, bar tenders, cleaning staff, just all the employees I talked with, were so friendly and accommodating. The “Dandelion Festival” was going on during the Memorial Day weekend in White Sulphur Springs. Viewing fireworks from the wide, outdoor expanse of the Rooftop Bar at The Schoolhouse was amazing. In addition to its natural ambiance, there were live fires surrounded by comfortable seating in one area, (with marshmallows and roasting sticks too!), outdoor heaters in other areas, and when there were no fireworks, live acoustic music in one wing. An open air bar serves us all a wide range of drinks. Our group had such a wonderful experience; Thank You!!!
Beautiful space & delicious food! Had the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich. Fries were hand cut and delicious!
