The Varsity Club

I highly recommend this place. The food and service is amazing.

We had a wonderful date night at The Varsity Club. Started the meal with some butternut squash ravioli then main course Smash burger with Caramelized onions and house sauce with a side of seasoned crispy fries and for desert the brownie with bacon ice cream and all the extra yumminess. Highly recommend and we will be back! Staff was amazing!!!!

place is amazing great food and nothing was a disappointment will be eating there again. everyone in the area or coming to the area must try this place

I went in with family and had a great time. The food was phenomenal, and service spectacular. The salmon i had as my entree was the best i have had in a long time. Everyone else in my party enjoyed their meals as well

Service was slower than expected due to understaffing relative to the number of guests dining. Food options were very limited, with approximately 60% of entrées unavailable. Our meals took just under an hour to arrive. That said, the hotel itself is beautiful, and the staff remained friendly and accommodating despite being clearly overwhelmed. I would be open to giving the restaurant another try outside of a holiday period, when operations may be less strained.

We visit this restaurant frequently, when visiting our son and his family in WV. During or last visit, family of 8, the waiter told us most of the entrees were not available. We understand there's a new chef, and the menu does have more options, which is nice. My husband and I ordered salads for our entree which looked like a small side salad when served. For $12.00 up-to $20 if you want a protein, we would expect the bowls to be larger, as they were in the past. Sadly.... we don't feel the food and high prices are worth another visit.

POOR SERVICE. WOW, food is very good but our waitress was horrible this evening. We have been to this restaurant previously and always been impressed. Brought a friend in town for dinner and tonight was a different story, we will NEVER be back. I don’t typically leave reviews but for the price of food at this restaurant I’d expect someone to at least act like they halfway cared. Go somewhere else and save yourself the headache.

Food was good however our waitress may have been the worst I have ever experienced. We have enjoyed this restaurant previously and last night felt embarrassed to take our friend in town there for dinner. It was not busy. A few people at the bar and two other small tables of two. There was no reason we shouldn't have had drink refills and when we were offered them it was almost an inconvenience. Not to mention when one of the drinks was brought out incorrectly and brought to her attention she threw her hands to her sides and there was no offer to fix it because “she put it into the system as asked” and walked away. Noticed multiple times she was on her phone in the back area near the kitchen. The only time plates were cleared was by the person who brought our food out to us whom was quite nice and at the end of our meals when our waitress returned and picked up two of our plates and walked away when my husband tried to hand her his. Overall extremely disappointed. Was excited as a local to have a nice restaurant to enjoy but we will not go back.

We waited more than 5 min for hostess, who then told us she had reservations for all tables (even tho 2/3 of tables were empty). We asked if we could sit at bar. She said yes, but hadn’t offered that option. She continued to turn people away while we eat. At one point, the waiter seated four people, and then she made them get up and leave. 2/3 of the tables remained empty the entire time. Then, a couple was seated at the bar, then invited to move to a table. We were not.

The waiter brought our coffee with cream, but forgot the sugar (that he had asked about). Then he brought the sugar. But we had to ask for spoons. He brought the food, but we had to ask for other silverware. English muffin had no butter on it, so I had to ask for that.

We had a wonderful meal at The Varsity Club. Our waitress was very attentive, and the drinks and food arrived in a timely manner. The filet was particularly great, but everyone enjoyed their meals (fish, pasta, chicken). We had 8 people in our group, and it wasn't too loud in the restaurant, which was really nice. We will definitely return to The Varsity Club next time we visit the area.

Really enjoyed this restaurant which is inside of The Schoolhouse Hotel. Very nice atmosphere, staff really friendly and accommodating. We had dinner and then went back for brunch the next day. Both meals sooo delicious! Only negative would be it takes some time to get the food after ordering. Not a huge deal if you just want to relax and enjoy yourself but if in a hurry may be a factor. I will definitely go back for sure!

Its a shame because what food we had was very good. Unfortunately the service was extremely slow. The manager and food runner were working hard, but the servers were horrible. Would never go back or recommend. Parking was atrocious.
