“The Trapper Grill at Signal Mountain Lodge is one of my favorite places to eat in Grand Teton National Park. The setting is hard to beat, with incredible views across Jackson Lake from both sides of the restaurant. If you’re lucky enough to get a window seat, even better, but much of the dining room still has a great view outside.

As the author of the Jackson Hole Hiking Guide, I’ve spent years exploring Grand Teton National Park, and Signal Mountain Lodge is a regular stop. There’s something particularly nice about finishing a day in the park with a good meal while looking out over Jackson Lake.

The restaurant has a huge amount of seating, but don’t let that fool you during the summer. When the park is busy, Trapper Grill can completely fill up and you’ll sometimes find a waitlist. It’s popular for a reason.

The menu has an excellent selection, which usually makes deciding what to order the hardest part. I’ve eaten here many times and have consistently enjoyed the food. The staff has always been super nice as well, even when the restaurant is packed.

As a romance novelist, I also appreciate restaurants where the setting is part of the experience. Sitting over dinner with Jackson Lake outside the windows certainly qualifies.

“Ate at the bar. Food was fine but not exemplary (which would have been unusual). Service was prompt. Expensive but it’s in a national park. Had breakfast buffet there this AM. AVG+. Food was much better than most inexpensive hotel breakfasts. Service (coffee refills etc) were excellent.“
