Great food, great service, and great atmosphere! We thoroughly enjoyed the crispy duck leg, lentil/quinoa soup, and cream brulee cheesecake. Lots of varieties for kids too! We dined for both breakfast and dinner, and we were impressed! Ian at the front desk is a gem!

We really liked Obsidian when we came here two years ago, but this time everything seems to have gone downhill. The first night our reservations got messed up and we had to take an 8:00pm slot. No worries, things happen, but even with the reservation they couldn't get us in until 9:00. We're from the east coast, so that was like 11:00 for us. What's the point of a reservation if we have to wait an hour? They seemed a little slammed, so we were willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, but even the quality of the food seems to have gone down while prices have stayed the same or increased. They used to have really good belgian hot cocoa for breakfast, now they only offer instant. Last time the bison chili was so good I ordered it on two different days, but this time it tasted very generic. I think our server was a little overwhelmed as we had to ask several times to get a soda we ordered. Again, things happen, so we came back a few nights later to give them another try. This time my wife and I ordered bison burgers. She ordered hers well done and received it rare. I ordered mine medium well and received one patty well done and one patty medium rare. The staff was gracious in fixing it, but the whole experience was consistently disappointing across multiple visits. We did try it once for breakfast, and the food was adequate, but not incredibly great for the price.

Monopoly leads to bad service. Since you have no other places to go, you just have to accept the worst.Made a reservation, almost an hour later we still can't get seated. While we watched some "friends" of the reception lady just sneaked in with a reservation that is for 3 hours later. We politely requested the reason (perhaps race related since we are not her white friends), but a very arrogant manager came out, started with "what's your problem" and essentially told us "either wait or fxxk off and starve".At that point we were shocked, just cannot believe such words can come out of someone in hospitality business. But since he had the point - he can indeed kick us out and we would have nothing to eat - we did not continue with the conversation.I would recommend the burger place next door before they close (we missed it unfortunately), just don't come to this place for dinner. Will pack some instant noodles next time, better than waiting here helplessly. And guess what, they don't offer to go.Eventually after our dinner, I feel very sorry for our waitress, who did an excellent job and does not deserve this one-star rating, but because of the terrible treatment from reception and the manager, I really couldn’t rate it higher. They ruined the whole experience from the beginning.I also feel sorry for the kitchen. The reception lady blamed the delay entirely on the kitchen (the reason she told everyone). But her behavior of letting people in earlier than their reservervation time added significant extra burden on the kitchen. I would speak for the kitchen since these hard-working people would never know what they were blamed for behind their back.

Racial discrimination with super arrogant manager... the management team treats Caucasian guests and Asian guests differently and manages guests' complaints arrogantly. As a restaurant in Yellowstone, it doesn't qualify for its reputation. The management team should apologize and be replaced.

We ate the breakfast buffet twice when staying at the lodge. Not a bad price for 2 adults and 2 children. Quality is okay. Won't be a meal you are dreaming of in the future, but wasn't bad. Service was good and it made for a quick in-and-out so we could get to exploring the park.

Best food you'll find in the park, especially the day before the close for the season. The staff was incredible, especially Abby (Ali?) who made us feel special the last breakfast we were there.

Told it would be about 30 min, ended up being nearly two hours. By the time we sat down, they were out of what I wanted to order from a VERY limited menu. Very disappointing as there are not many dining options when you are staying at Old Faithful.

TL:DR If you get sat in Jason's section ask for another server. He never showed up to the table.--This was a self-serve breakfast buffet, you get sat, busser brings water, server supposed to come by asks if you want coffee and a juice, and closes your check out, busses your table, and some side work to keep restaurant in working order. Thats it.I showed up alone, on a road trip to Montana, the front desk said they were low on staff and set me down in Jason's section. The nice host walked me over and said Jason would bring coffee and juice. One of the bussing staff came by asked if it was just me, I mentioned it I was told it was the only table available, he picked up the card the front desk circled 1 guest on, scoffed, rolled his eyes picked up the extra glasses and silverware and left. He would glance over at me from time to time, again never coming by again. If this was Jason I'll never know.Waited 15 minutes, nothing, I had to ask another staff member Heather, for coffee, she let him know and Jason brought coffee when I was not at the table, getting food from the buffet, when returning there was a coffee carafe, a cup filled with coffee and plenty of coffee spilled around it. Heather came by again to ask if Jason had been by.The breakfast buffet was excellent, all the common American foods you'd expect, nothing wrong there. After I finished I waited around another 15 minutes wondering if I had to close my check with the front desk or not, she said the server closes me out.I chose to close out with the front desk since Jason never showed up to my table. And I would not be compelled to leave him a tip. She took my card, and came back without a receipt or anything to sign. What did she charge? She said she asked him, and his excuse was he didn't know it was his table, even though he brought coffee to it. If you get sat in Jason's section ask for another server. He never showed up to the table. All in all this wasn't a big deal, guys like him have a lot on their plate, you know with keeping coffee filled, its a big job, not everyone can handle it. Jokes aside, if you cant even handle a buffet service job there's not much you can do. Too bad service in the parks is very limited, this guy wouldn't last a day where I'm from.

We had a delightful evening meal in the Obsidian Restaurant in August of 2023. In fact, the meal was the culinary highlight of our 3-week tour through the greater Yellowstone area and Sun Valley, ID. We started the meal with some very tangy, perfectly prepared Duck Wings. Yes, Duck Wings. Crispy, slightly spicy and meaty, the wings were mouth watering. The second appetizer was Bison Tartar. Delicious. The main course was even better - juicy, tender bison short ribs. Perfectly prepared, the meat fell off the bone. Just gamey enough to set them apart from mundane beef ribs. We were really bummed that we could not return the next night!

Delicious! we had to wait about 20 minutes but it was no big deal. we were soon inside, everyone both at the host podium and inside the restaurant were super attentive, helpful and professional. the duck wings recommended by the check-in desk employees were finger-licking good. each one of our family thoroughly enjoyed our experience at this snow lodge restaurant.

Overpriced mediocre breakfast buffet. Tons of flavorless honeydew melon b/c the scant cantaloupe is picked out first. Why not add some red grapes or a few strawberrie? Only tiny blueberry & lemon poppyseed muffins. Look, for $16.25 and $8.95 for a 4 year old, you could have your big plates available and clean. They ran out THREE times. You could have small danishes. The bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, coffee, & biscuits were good. Your jellies on the table are old. But b/c several thousand visitors hit Yellowstone every year, most resort restaurants really don't care. They know that they just have to say,"NEXT". Sucker. They know their business is never ending and automatic, unfortunately for the visitors. We won't recommend or return. Not even for the dinner menu.

Service great. Food typical of national park service is generally bad for the price. Bison burger and duck drumstick (their version of "wings") appetizer I could recommend. Again, we are here for the
