Jamaican Restaurants in Whitehorse, YT

“So when it comes to Jerk Chicken (Caribbean or Jamaican) I am kind of a snob and connoisseur.
I was raised in Toronto around Jamaican and Caribbean families who used to harass me about 'No white boy can handle our Jerk Chicken. It's way to spicy!' I heard it over and over.
But persistence got me my way and what turned into a joke early on, paved a way for the whole boy judging all my friends mothers, aunties, fathers, cousins, etc jerk everything, curry stews, Roti's, plantain, coleslaw, beans and rice, ginger beer, etc

Throw in my vast travel experience through Central and South America and the Caribbean stopping at every street vendor with steel barrel charcoal BBQ to experience the best.

This isn't an easy feat to impress me.

This place way up in Whitehorse, did just that. It wasn't the food (it was pretty good) but it was their homemade Pineapple Gingerbeer.

I had 2 glasses and would have loved to buy a 2 liter jug or a flat of stubby bottles, if they had it.

The food wasn't bad but it's not what I am forever searching out (spicy hot marinated chicken or pork for 24 hrs that is then charbroiled, then sitting over the smoke to give it that authentic experience I has a child).

The light allspice seasoned chicken is perfect for those unfamiliar with the typical spicy heat thats full of flavour....NOT hot pepper hot (habenero, ghost pepper). I call it the American Pallete hot. You know the ones that cry over a mild chicken wing.“
