“I am very picky about Korean foods as I was born, raised and lived in South Korea for over 30 years. My mom made everything from scratch including soy sauce, bean paste and red pepper pastes. I’m not a fan of Korean food scene in the city of Vancouver. However, in North Vancouver, South Castle is the place I go after a hike or climbing.I highly recommend their blood sausage soup and spicy fried intestines. Quite delicious!!Staff are in general very friendly and genuinely kind. You will feel well taken care of.“

“Did not know what to eat in a Friday evening. Did a Google search for Korean food and this place stood out. Was not sure what to expect. When we got in all the servers are very friendly and kind. ordered the traditional dishes in a Korean restaurant and they were so good. Very authentic , possibly the best seafood pancake i ever had! Very good bibimbap. Food is a bit spicy so you should be aware of that but I do love my spice. Spicy seafood udon was fire. They have some craft beer on tap but next time I should get some Soju! If you like Korean food this place is one of the best in the north shore! Seafood dishes are awesome!“

“The chicken was delicious. However it doesn’t look good when customers can see employees eating in the kitchen while wearing gloves and not changing their gloves or washing their hands before talking customers food.“

“This unassuming little ramen shop is absolutely delightful. Good food, with some really interesting Korean-Japanese fusion items on the menu, and great prices! The girl who served me on both visits was so sweet and helpful. This is definitely my new go-to spot for a hot bowl of soup on a wet day.“

“It's so nice to be able to eat plentiful and delicious food like in Korea. The Lunch Special, which can be ordered until 3pm on weekdays, seems to be great value for money. It's called a half-size combination, but it seems like there's a lot more jjajang, jjamppong, and fried rice than the half size.I love it because it's hearty and delicious like in Korea. Lunch Special, which can be ordered until 3 p.m. on weekdays, is the best for the price. It's a half-size combination, but jjajang, jjamppong, and fried rice seem to be much larger than half-sized.“

“THANK YOU Angela!!! You are the shiniest star at that Chicko Chicken!!!Sorry for this long overdue review! We are the group of eight people with two children who visited the store last Saturday night. We were waiting for a large party table at the Korean restaurant next door, but after waiting for 40mins, we were told that they can’t accommodate our large group sue to limited space. While disappointed that we were not able to enjoy the food from that restaurant, especially with two hungry one-year-old who were at dinner time ?,we were hoping to order takeout from this restaurant and eat next door at Chicko Chicken (nobody was dining in at that moment). Angela graciously allowed us to come in and stay so we don’t have to stand outside in the cold winter night and figure out the alternatives. We ordered the take out, and some delicious chicken from Chicko Chicken. It was a memorable night!! Everyone in our group wants to express their sincere appreciation for Angela solving our awkward situation. Your kindness with not be overseen, and you will certainly be bless by your own kindness :)“

“First time trying, we ordered the family set with an order of crab on the side. Taste 1/1* Meat were fresh, marinated meat were tasty, and soup was great, though wife thought was slightly over salted. Crab was amazing, highly recommend! Value 0/1* Slightly on the expensive side, each person came out to $60+ with no beverages Service 1/1* Quick and friendly, lots of space for stroller too Cleanliness 1/1* Spotless Overall/Revisit 1/1* Yes would revisit Paying for ambience? MAYBE Above and beyond? 0/+1* NO On a side note, their pork belly are not served with a side of lettuce, also they don't have any draft beer, so if those are something you are craving, may be disappointed.“

“Been a few years since I've visited but used to come here all the time when I resided closer to Coquitlam— always been my preferred location! The new renovations are lovely and still has a cozy atmosphere. Food is as good as I remember and I always recommend the spicy octopus hot plate. ❤️“

“Great service and atmosphere here! Food was great as I got the boneless fried chicken with the sweet chilli sauce. It was not was I was expecting with typical Korean fried chicken (in terms of the fried batter on the outside) but the chicken was super juicy. Good place to try out!“

“More like a self-serve place. Ordered the golden original and snowing cheese chicken. The golden original is the best. The batter was spot on and chicken was juicy. And oil doesn't taste bitter where some other places reuse it so much it affects the quality of the food. The snowing cheese tasted more...sweet. The fries were good, reminded me of Costco fries. Had the mushroom burger. It was done right. Nothing bad about it. Washroom was clean. Only odd thing is they do not have high chair, so my toddler had to sit on the adult chair. I would still go back, just for the golden fried chicken .“

“10/10 chirashi don! I’m very impressed by the Tuna especially as someone who usually doesn’t like tuna. Freshness and price point makes this an absolute gem. My sister got the dynamite cone and gave great remarks about its freshness. Overall outstanding quality (and music too… link the Spotify playlist please), plus we arrived literally 30 minutes til closing.“

“❤️?? Oh my… goodness!!! This place is a hidden gem in the area. Their portions for the price is honestly a steal! Quality and flavour of the food here is great as well. My coworkers and I discovered this place as our office moved in the area and discovering Mama’s Rice Bowl has blessed our lunchtime ?The only downside is that they close a tad bit earlier than I’d prefer but, it leaves room for us to desire their food all-the-more. Definitely going to add more details when I order from here again!*** Update:Went in person for pickup and the employees are very kind :) They’re located on the inside of their building and there’s no signage on the front of the building that they’re in. The area when you enter and are ordering is quite small but, they do have tables where you can eat your food and “dine in”. I took a picture of my food after one bite because… I couldn’t wait to eat it, sorry it’s not as aesthetic “

“Sushi Howe is small but the people are extremely friendly and the sushi is exceptional. I live close and they always greet me by name and make the sushi quickly. Try the Salmon Combo C and Spicy Crunch Roll. Also the deep fried Burning Sun roll is another favourite.“

“I was happy with the food and the friendly staff. It’s always a bonus when you can choose your own style! Like for example half mozarella and pork or many other options, also toppings like sweet potato or ramen crisp. Top it with your favorite sauce and add some flakes like Parmesan for the final twist. Only sad thing is that you can’t sit in or in front of the place - so it’s mostly a to go snack.Thumbs up, I was full because it was quite a good portion of food.“

“My friends and I visit this place at least once a month! The chicken is very tender, especially their signature charcoal chicken menus, which are excellent. Other items such as their ddeokbokki, fried chicken, and sides are also superb, so please come and enjoy yourselves! Additionally, all the staff are very friendly and kind, and the atmosphere is very welcoming!“

“Opted for the tasting menu. The sablefish and sweetbreads were big highlights, but the whole meal was delicious, and reasonably priced for its quality. Also enjoyed the Wasabi Makhana, Old Quarter, and Smoke And Spice cocktails, plus a light and fresh tequila creation from bartender Kingsley. Speaking of, Kingsley and our server, Jordan, were friendly, attentive, and had good recommendations for the rest of our last night in Vancouver. Go here for a nice date night.“

“The gimbap, bibimbap, and soondae are my faves here! The owner/staff are extremely friendly and the restaurant is clean. I would even say the gimbap here is better than the ones you can get in Korea. They’re loaded with healthy ingredients with minimal rice and well seasoned. Highly recommended!“

“Food was good, nothing too crazy, they could have a larger variety of sauces to go with the grilled meat. They were quite fast for changing out the grill which was nice. The ventilation in our room was kinda slow, it got Smokey fast. Parking is tight/packed too.“

“Food was fast and taste good. Even their tiny side dishes was good. Kimchi wasn't that spicy. But it was kind of expensive for lunch. 3 dishes came to $64. Seafood pancake was good, but for $25 that is kind of expensive. Not much seafood and not much veg either. Normally not much seafood should still be a lot of veg. The chicken was good , and the udon was good too. The restaurant was full during lunchtime and there was only 1 waitress and she did everything. Answer the phone for takeout, waiting table, serving the food........ She was a one man band. And we still able to finished our lunch within the hour, impressive.“

“Went here to try their dakgalbi as I was craving for it after I returned from Korea. I wasn't disappointed and it tasted like what I had there.Foods were amazing and staff are friendly.I was specially surprised at their cream onion chicken. It was really good. Crispy, jiucy, and HUGE servings. And the SAUCE and the ONION were delicious! My new favourite Korean place.“

“I liked it, however it misses some vegetarian options. I had to stay with corn cheese and rice as there wasn't an option of vegetarian barbecue with veggies or something similar. I would say it is "tá bom" (it's good) but it's not "tá ótimo" (it's great)“

“Excellent bibimbap and a good portion for the price. The place is a food court so not really nice to sit down. Better to take out unless you want the hot stone meals. I'll come back for the gimbap and japchae. The service is very attentive, they should just be careful adding sauce - some people can't have them because of gluten, not spicy levels!“

“I can't give them anything less than 5, just because of how friendly the staff are and how incredibly delicious the chicken was. The radish was also absolutely amazing as well.Good job to the people back in the kitchen. The only downside was that they did not put any fork, joystick or napkins in the bag, even tho it was take out. C'mone guys, how much are you saving with doing this?“

“The owner is very friendly and explains very well the different options. Food is tasty but the serving amount could be bigger. Notice that if you're not used to spicy(hot) food even the food that the owner claims is not spicy at all will be very spicy for you.“

“We were looking for a place late at night that serves high quality healthy tasty food at a fair price, and we were delighted with this. The handsome server was doing everything himself, serving, cooking, and everything else. The kalbee beef short rib and tacos were incredible. He even made a glass of hot milk for my friends daughter after she had a cry. We will be back.“

“Don't let the exterior fool you, this is a gem of a hole in the wall. The ramen was delicious and well spiced--the flavour and umami of it is great! The chasu and smoked pork are so tender and absolutely fantastic, the pork really does just melt in your mouth. I think the only thing I'd like, is if they were part of a delivery service.“

“Seen many Korean street side chicken places on You Tube. Decided to give this a try for the first time . Went to the location on Canada Way. Ordered the family Sweet Soy Chicken & Fries Took awhile to prepare the food (15 mins) No wonder ,huge amount of chicken box was packed full. Large pieces very flavorful, not greasy at all like Churches grease feast j chicken . Fries were amazing .I found a new go to place to buy chicken for a game . A tad pricey, buy I assure you very well worth the money . If this place franchises, they will give KFC & Churches very serious condition . My first time there , highly impressed. I highly recommended you try this. Will not be disappointed. Very pleasant staff. Simple decor, but the service & food will amaze you . Thank you so very much for an amazing meal. I will definitely will be returning . Added a picture, this is after 3 people eating Big pieces and loads left ... Go visit this place . You won't regret it !!!“

“Excellent location to grab some delicious Korean-style fried chicken for take-out. The seasoning and texture for the original flavor are just right, tender meat inside and not overly crunchy skin outside. Recommended to call and order ahead of time to avoid waiting for up to 20 minutes in your car.“
“yes yes yes! I’m in the neighborhood and I suggest this place to everyone who stops by. they make everything fresh so it takes a little bit of time, but they warn you ahead of time and recommend calling before! this means that all the food is perfectly cooked and delicious when you pick it up fresh. the fries are super good and the chicken is so juicy! every flavour i’ve had has slapped and I will continue to give rave reviews to friends!Kid-friendliness: Picky eater options“
