“Last evening two friends and I dined at Orto. It was our second visit. We do not need a third dining experience to persuade us that we have found our go-to restaurant to celebrate special occasions or just being together. Thank you for our superb meals and for looking after us ! We look forward to our next visit with you!“

“I just had a great experience tonight. Delicious dishes and very pleasant and respectful service. EMMA who is one of the staff there is so friendly and experienced in her job. She offered me the best meal I have ever had. I just want to say thank you and I am so glad to see such a successful business around the city.“

“The staff is so disrespectful! We arrived at this place around 12:35pm and the hostess said they would have a 35 min wait list. We said ok, got our names in the wait list and left. After 35 min I came back for a time check and the hostess said more 30 min wait. We have a toddler and 1 hour wait would be too much for the toddler. I asked to talk to the manager but the hostess said there was no manager on duty that day. I insisted since that wouldn't make any sense. After begging to talk to the person in charge, finally someone showed up. The manager was even more disrespectful than the hostess - she kept this ironic smile all the time and said that the hostess removed our names from the list by mistake but nothing could be done, not even offer us the top of the wait list and we had to go to the bottom of the list again. She also said they were doing the best they could - I left without saying a word since keep discussing was just pointless - when I walk out the door I just heard "and please don't come back". Just don't come here.“

“Sushi was great. Ingredients were fresh, and everything was assembled and plated well. The service was even better. Every staff member worked collaboratively, was attentive, and very pleasant. I never had to ask for anything to be taken away or refilled, and my food always came quickly. My only 2 gripes about this restaurant is that they have limited seating and their prices are probably 50% higher than most other sushi places.“

“It was our first visit to this restaurant but not the last. We found this place by chance. We were starving and did not have a lot of time as we had to catch ferry. the staff person was very polite and understanding about it and our dinner was served super quick. Everything that we had ordered was delicious. My husband and I did not expect it to be this good. the staff person was very respectful. I ate good authentic Indian food after a long time. If you happen to be in North Vancouver and craving for Indian food, this is a place to go to. Nice family run restaurant. We will surely be there next time I am in North Van.“

“Within North Vancouver and West Vancouver there are very few options for plant based eating. The Workshop Vegetarian is the only restaurant I know of on that side of town that is a dedicated Vegan/ Vegetarian restaurant. I am so happy that I finally got to try it! (And I got to use another plant based deals coupon for it too!)Spicy Tan Tan RamenMiso Glazed Eggplant Veggie SandwichCroissant Breakfast SandwichMarinara Grilled Cheese SandwichPumpkin Spice LatteBeetroot LatteMochaMy husband loved his Spicy Tan Tan Ramen, and when my meat eating husband eats something plant based and actually likes it, that is a sure sign of good food. He tried the Miso Glazed Eggplant Veggie Sandwich and gave his seal of approval to that as well.I don't know what it is about Breakfast sandwiches that's got our daughter hooked on them so much but I am definitely not complaining about it as she's learning to widen her taste palate and eat foods she's never really eaten much before, thanks to her new love of Vegan breakfast sandwiches. This one at Workshop Vegetarian was no exception to the rule. She loved this one, and the greens were not a detterent!Grilled Cheese Sandwich is a simple dish that I could make at home so I don't usually order it, but a vegan version of it is a real treat as we don't often have Vegan cheese at home. I absolutely loved this Vegan Grilled Cheese Sandwich. The cheese was just as ooey and gooey as a regular Grilled Cheese Sandwich and it tasted so good with the Marinara sauce! They also have a fridge and freezer section where you can buy ready made food to go, or plant based foods to cook at home. I think I may do a bit of shopping on my next visit! This place is my new favourite on the North Shore, and I can't wait to go back again!Where are your favourite spots on the North Shore for plant based eating?Service: GoodParking: Free parking on the streetLocation: 296 Pemberton Ave., North Vancouver, BC“

“We were lucky to get the last 2 seats at the bar on very busy Saturday night. We started with the oysters which were a fantastic BC variety. In Ontario we almost exclusively see PEI oysters (which are great) but it was a nice briny change of pace for me. The grilled octopus starter was also superb. Sliced wafer thin and crispy it was hit in both flavour and texture. For mains I had the special, Halibut in beur-blanc and my wife had the seared scallops with squash ravioli. I'm not sure who won that round.. both were terrific. We rarely order dessert but I'm sucker for poached pears. They did not disappoint, it was really superb, served with house made coconut ice cream. The berry payola was also excellent but the poached pear outshone it.Service was very efficient but friendly and personal and we had a nice chat with the bar staff as they shucked shellfish and some regulars who were also dining at the bar.We found Fishworks by Google search. We happened to be staying at a hotel a block away. It had one of the highest ratings and best reviews of the restaurant in walking distance. Glad we found Fishworks, we will recommend it to others and we'll be back again. Thanks for a memorable meal.“

“Higher quality food than other breakfasts I’ve had in Vancouver. Wait times can be a little longer on the weekends. Friendly and polite staff. This was my second time at Catch 122 Cafe. First time I had Huevus Rancheros and I liked it better than Pulled Pork this time.“

“Really there's nowhere better for indulgent, gargantuan takes on old school western classics - lumberjack breakfasts, loaded burgers that throw in the kitchen sink, and so on. Vancouver's oldest restaurant keeping it real and keeping bellies full since 1926. Fun gimmicky design, doesn't take itself seriously at all. Whatever the opposite to pretentious is.“

“A lovely and satisfying brunch experience. They serve real fresh squeezed orange juice that’s very refreshing and the food was delicious. The Dutch Pannekoek is a must get here and you can choose whether you want to pair it with savoury toppings like eggs, sausage, hash, Debacon, etc. or sweet toppings like fruit and cream. Not only is the size of these Dutch pancakes amazingly large, but the taste is even better! They are soft, squishy, and chewy. Extremely satisfying and pleasantly filling. The stroop syrup they give you is tasty too like a molasses tasting syrup. Would definitely return for more Pannekoek.“

“Absolutely delicious. I ordered the Chilli (without the sour cream and cheese), big yummy chunks of meat and was the perfect size in my opinion. The garlic toast was also fresh and house made garlic butter. My husband ordered the beef brisket burger and was just as happy with his meal. I also ate some of his fries, heavily seasoned but sooo good.“

“Liked the burger, even though not the best ever, a decent one. The patty is a bit thin, one would expect a meatier and a juicier burger. The kale salad was also decent. Nice and helpful staff, well decorated floor.Parking: Street parking an option“

“The food is delicious but the new staff need a bit of work to come up to scratch. We've had lunch and dinner several times here since this location opened off Lonsdale, replacing the one further up the road. The sushi is always terrific, a nice blend of classic and inspired creations with fresh ingredients. We noted some unusual items not usually on a traditional sushi menu but variety is the spice of life, so why no?The atmosphere is bright and new with lots of windows and an outside patio with heat lamps (once the weather dries and warms up) but the tall divider made it a bit hard to see the door from our seats. We mentioned we were expecting friends to join us and we had stand up each time someone new walked in order to see over the divider. Minor annoyance; we'll ask for seating on the other side next time.We understand good staff are hard to keep but new staff need a bit more awareness training. The table we were lead to wasn't cleaned before we were seated and we weren't offered tea. (Tea came in ordinary mugs; I miss the nice china teacups.) After the food arrived, we had to ask for small plates and the extra wasabi we requested when we ordered.During the meal, we had difficulty getting the waitress's attention (for more tea) and to clear the empty plates. She didn't inquire if we wanted anything else before she brought the bill. We might have... Small tweaks make the difference between mediocre and very good service and a larger tip.Overall, a nice spot for sushi conveniently located in North Vancouver, worth the short walk east from Lonsdale Ave, at 15th Street, across from Lions Gate Hospital. Limited street parking during the day but usually available within a block or so after 6 pm.“

“Had the Salmon and Tuna Chirashi, which was reasonably priced at $16.95. While the sashimi was more thinly sliced than at other establishments, it came with 4 of each fish, as well as some tamago and avocado slices. Was a filling enough portion for dinner and came with a generous bowl of miso soup (double in size from what I usually get at other Japanese restaurants!). We found the Chicken Yakisoba to have a good portion of battered chicken, but it was too saucy for our liking. It was quite liquid-y and thinner than what we're used to. The California Roll was good, it came with lots of imitation crab meat in the ratio to cucumber/avocado. Service was fairly prompt and food came out in a timely manner. Would return if in the area!“

“Alloz Grill may just be the single best place to get brunch in Vancouver. The place is run by a very wholesome filipino couple that clearly knows how to do things right. For just $16, you can get 2 eggs, a crazy amount of garlic fried rice, and perhaps the crispiest, juiciest pork belly (lechon) you’ll ever eat! My girlfriend got the beef tapa, which was just as much food and somehow even more flavourful! It’s a 45 min drive from my place on a busy day, but still, I might just be coming back every weekend for this. The photos speak for themselves. Highly recommend, easy 5/5.“

“Let's call it 4/4. Why not 5 stars? I haven't tried the pizza yet from their forno oven, so I can't fairly give it 5.Great spot to meet friends and colleagues after work or for a little date night. There are a few TVs but the set up is better for conversing. Many great beer options to choose from. Same with the food options. What I did have was spot on delicious, and the other items I saw coming out looked great (especially the burgers).Service was great! It's been pretty quiet the few times that I've been in and sometimes that means servers are busy catching up on other tasks. But we were never left without quality checks and the beverages never ran dry before a fresh one showed up.Overall great experience on multiple visits.“

“Stopped by to pick up some banh mi for our hike around Capilano. Definitely a small mom & pop restaurant. Didn't see anyone in the front when we walked in, but some people who walked in after us were obviously locals and just sat themselves. Pork and Vietnamese Ham 4/5 (basic banh mi not bad to satisfy your cravings) Grilled sliced pork 5/5 (seasoned well) Goi Cuon Nem Nuong 3/5 (I couldn't taste the Nem Nuong because there were so much noodle in the roll)“
