“One of the best Thai food spots in Pasadena/Altadena- and that’s quite an achievement given the competition. Miya sets themselves apart with a well crafted menu, cozy and uniquely decorated space, and neatest of all, every Tuesday they have an all vegetarian menu with some unforgettable choices. Honestly worth checking out before the place inevitably becomes famous and the line for a table always out the door! Also huge shout out to the staff who took the time to walk us through the menu, explain how the restaurant dining choices worked, and generally went above and beyond to make the experience match the quality of the food!”

“Utterly charmed by this place. After eating an incredible, smoky bowl of split pea - which John (the owner) made on the spot on his gas stove behind the register - for $3.75, I bought some grocery staples and a few treats. While shopping, I marveled at the hand-packed "leftovers" stored in the wood-paneled refrigerator, on sale for a modest $1.75/portion instead of being thrown out. A business as personal and homey as Oh Happy Day is a marvel these days. I feel gratitude and respect for John and the space he's fostered. Will be back many times.”

“A no-frills "fast food" spot. They have a very diverse menu consisting of American, Mexican, and Chinese food. I have yet to try any other item besides the burgers and fried zucchini, which I'm a fan of. The service is quick and your food is cooked to order. The burgers are a great size and delicious! Also, do yourself a favor and get the fried zucchini. The batter is nice and crispy, and the zucchini is sliced thick.”

The yogurt bowl with their fresh granola and raspberry puree was divine! Order that if you don’t want something so heavy but yet still a great portion size and will fill you up. Coffee was excellent too.”

“The pizza and fries are soo good! And service as well, we wandered in close to closing last night (had an event nearby) not knowing they closed at 8, but we still felt welcomed and the younger blonde guy at register did an excellent job. We had a Hawaiian type pizza with dried pineapple, which sounds weird but was SO good! And fries with their garlic sauce, I'd go back for those two items for sure. We also had a supreme pizza that was delicious as well. Also, tried their freshly made lime guava lemonade, we loved it. Wish we lived closer, would be there more often!”

I was off my diet for one day and wanted tacos. Now I am thinking to extend my day off to two days. I bought three tacos and they were so meaty. And the owner was super kind and soft spoken. It is 5am and I wish I had of purchased 10 tacos. They were just that good.”

“I was visiting from out of state and had the opportunity to eat at this hidden gem. As a foodie that has visited many different countries, islands and local food establishments, this food was like heaven! The smell and the myriad of flavors spoke to my soul!! I didn't mind waiting for fresh, hot, perfectly seasoned and crafted food. If they were open all day, I definitely would've eaten there for breakfast, lunch and dinner. My only disappointment is that I don't live in the state. This is a MUST dine at spot. A special shoutout and thank you to the gracious owner for memorable meals and my friend Herb for introducing me to this place. I look forward to returning.”

“Fast service, generous portions of meat and fresh self serve condiments. What's not to like!? I enjoyed my carne asada mulita (fried quesadilla) very much. Only issue was that the paper plate got stuck to the food in some areas. All of my tacos were well packed with foil on top. They make sure to give you multiple plates so the oil doesn't soak through but I'd still be careful where you place the plates when you eat.Located right outside of Ralph's parking lot. No seating available. Pick up and go kind of place. They accept Zelle payments.”

When we had to go try cakes from different vendors, all we could talk about was the cakes from this shop. The owner was also very helpful & knowledgeable about the cakes & what could & wouldn’t work. “I LOVE, love this place. I started coming to look at the old signage and kept coming back because Kim (and most of the other bartenders) were so kind to me a few summers ago when I would come in for the AC, the wifi (RIP), and to pretend that I was the scientist version of Charles Bukowski :) It's so far from a normal bar because there are amazing patio chairs, an uninterrupted view of the mountains abutting Lake Ave, and a historical memory of the Altadena of yesterday. There is also a little lending library (but please don't take the good books home because I like looking at them). I've stopped in there every day at this point so I know which days I'm welcome and which ones still have old holdovers from a time when my kind wouldn't be welcomed in a place like this. I'm just glad that the owners Chis and his wife and the people they've hired don't behave like this. They want you to feel like this is your own little production of "Cheers" where everybody knows your name. As long as you are also respectful and pay your bill. Not sure how much longer I'll be coming here but I wanted to leave a glowing review at some point because I've made some lasting friendships here. Thanks! xx ash P.S. Don't go on Sunday or Wed afternoon (or on Monday if Kim isn't working - she's a protector) if you look and dress like a little skater punk or have loc'd hair, or if you're alone and female embodied, you're better off going next door to ACE (grab a nice seltzer or topo chico and chat with Jacob) or to Unincorporated Coffee Shop/Roasters at the corner of Lincoln & Altadena Drive, until the sun sets then you can head to the Rancho because the crown will change around 5:30/6pm in the Winter. Saturday's get busy but I rarely go on Friday or Sat because I'd rather hang with my actual friends. If you like pool or darts you can do that here. If you want to watch a big game, it's usually on. Most customers are respectful, but there are a lot who are not, so just keep your eyes and ears open if you're alone. Ladies (and some men), get some bear spray or an expandable self-defense baton if you're walking to your car alone after leaving the bar at night. I also have a carbon fibre cross-bow because you never know what people can get up to if they're gooonnne off the Titos. Anyway, I hope Chris lets me design a t-shirt or hoodie for the bar one day!”

“If you've been here, you know. If you haven't, then you need to experience this food. It's the best gelato in the world. End of story. What may not be clear is that basically every other gelato store in the US (and oftentimes, the world) ships its gelato in from a giant factory in Italy. Leo, the owner, finds that product offensive, and makes a point of producing something that is altogether from a different planet.People come from Arizona to get his pistachio gelato. I'm partial to the chocolate and sea salt, myself. But the granitas and sorbets are not to be missed, either. No matter what your tastes (or food allergies), this place has something delicious for you, and you can sample everything.Go here.”
